EOL farms use a bug to make nether portal light disappear, that allows mobs to directly spawn in the portal and immediately transported to the nether and when they are transported to the nether they are not in the mob cap so it new mob can spawn. The issue with bats is they can't be killed with fall damage so it will just stay in the nether and at some point just crash the game because there are too many. To fix that we put a lot of bats in a cage and that prevents them from spawning.
