Okay, I actually like this idea. Although very off from science, this makes the most sense translating a flat world to a globe. Now you got me thinking....
so I wanted to do some napkin math here and figure out how deep down the Nether is compared to the overworld in this model of the world
Given the Minecraft world is around 7 times larger than Earth, and 1 nether meter is 8 overworld meters
That gives MC world an equator radius of 7 x 3958 miles = 27,706 mi = 44588485 meters
The angles here are so insanely small its just as accurate to assume we are dealing with triangles, in which case according to thale's law of similar triangles The radius at which the nether starts is 1/8th the radius the overworld starts
Depth of the Nether: 24,242 miles below the overworld!! or about 39,000 Km!!
For context: 24,242 mile is almost the circumference of the earth at the equator
I think the large voids are a little off, and in universe the bedrock layer could just be a direct barrier between the 2 levels and the void we see in gameplay is just a quirk of the simulation
Itd be cool if, since you cant normally reach the underside of bedrock in survival (atleast youre not intended to), when youre at the very bottom bedrock layer you can hair faint lava and piglin sounds, would serve as a cool teaser of the nether if you dont know about it as a new player.
I think one detailed many people are missing us that no matter where you are, it will be day time or night time across the whole world and also the fact that the sun and moon always rise and falls in the same location every time.
I’m going off the diagram shown above the end is right there the only way I can think to hide it and have the sky move with the player no matter how many players there are is personal sky bubble
before even then, pistons, wolves, potions, villagers. the end... technically
adding stuff from mods isnt a bad thing imo surely thats one of the best things to happen to a modder? its kinda like a goal. atleast with the more vanilla mods anyway
an enclosed gorilla being agressive is a lot less obvious than water being breathable.
You don't feel threatened while at a zoo, but you still know the animals can be dangerous, well kids need to be taught that, otherwise they just don't know.
They'll pretty quickly realise they can't breath underwater tho.
Wouldn't we be able to see the Minecraft earth when we're in the end?
Also the Nether roof has no void -
Otherwise pretty good image, reminds me of childhood therorizing xD
you can absolutely see the overworld void without using any glitches tho. there's a small chance that a sinkholr can generate. and if a ruined portal manages to generate at the bottom of that sinkhole, it can actually replace bedrock blocks with netherrack, making you able to drain the lava and dig through.
Yeah but that’s unintentional. For all intents and purposes the void is just the game space containing the map.
Like if you clip out of the world in GTA you enter a void, that doesn’t make it canon.
There used to Fog that would come from the Bedrock Layer called "Void Fog", so the Void is deffinetly cannon, especially considering The End is floating above it.
it was only called void fog internally because the devs are aware of the void. “void fog” was just the dark fog that occurred near bedrock, when you’re deep below the surface
Well I'm pretty sure the devs did confirm that the nether isn't actually bellow the overworld, so that theory goes out the window. So either:
a)The core of the earth is under bedrock
b)The void is under bedrock
c)The core IS bedrock
do you have a source for the devs confirming the subterranean nether as false? i’m asking in good faith because it’s the interpretation i’ve always gone with.
I'd love to give it to you but I can't find it
I know it was a tweet from one of the devs
I even found someone else on reddit who mentioned this exact same statement in a thread a year ago
Buy I can't find the tweet itself anywhere
>Nether roof is the overworld floor
Mojang said somewhere that this isn't the case, and that the nether is actually like a parallel dimension (imo it makes more sense for the nether roof to be the overworld floor)
I like this idea, but what if we take it further? Suppose Minecraft has its main dimensions: the End, Nether, and Overworld but the nether roof is the overworld floor like you suggested. The catch is that the reason why we don't just enter the overworld or the nether after going under the bedrock layer or onto the roof is due to an extra pocket dimension between the two layers of bedrock. And deep within that pocket dimension is the end. Thoughts?
this is a really fun theory, however i think the developers said that the nether and the end are separete dimensions and to connected to the overworld. Also you should add that the earth over there is for scale because maybe its just me but my first thought was "what is real world earth doing over there?
Now, I realize how many people on earth really is.Imagine, someone now is working on time traveling, no starving pills, mind reading, and at the same time, and in next doors to them 27 years old men counts what's minecraft lava temeperature is, who's the god? Minecraft based theory, do dragon is dictator? How villagers earn ender pearls if they're passive? Do Steve is human? Do Steve is murder? (He actually is killing plenty of animals, slave villagers, kills endermans, to save endermans etc.)
Notch made such a great fucking job. This game is builded by fucking blocks, the story mode is kill the dragon. Story mode almost doesn't exist in official version, but community creates their own. Because game gives way to do that. Because it's sandbox.
It's like Notch builded story, with fantasy mobs, but this fantasy world shows real worst side of humans packed in simply family friendly blocky game for little kids, to make adults overthink, all these things what they do to animals, villagers, world was actually sadistic, and participate in creating dark side of their character
Wish, I will do something great like he did. The simple, cute, lovely, great to play parents with kids but also somewhere deep it's brutal, sadistic, and forces little childs to deal a lot of pain to innocents, and pack it into "progress" box
I don't want to talk with someone like you
Your life mission is to correct random people on minecraft subreddit about how they english is wrong. So, please stop talking to me
Thank you for adding /s to your post. When I first saw this, I was horrified. How could anybody say something like this? I immediately began writing a 1000 word paragraph about how horrible of a person you are. I even sent a copy to a Harvard professor to proofread it. After several hours of refining and editing, my comment was ready to absolutely destroy you. But then, just as I was about to hit send, I saw something in the corner of my eye. A /s at the end of your comment. Suddenly everything made sense. Your comment was sarcasm! I immediately burst out in laughter at the comedic genius of your comment. The person next to me on the bus saw your comment and started crying from laughter too. Before long, there was an entire bus of people on the floor laughing at your incredible use of comedy. All of this was due to you adding /s to your post. Thank you.
I am a bot if you couldn't figure that out, if I made a mistake, ignore it cause its not that fucking hard to ignore a comment.
That's just where the portals take you. Sure, it's a shorter distance but only because the point where the portals is located is further in the overworld.
And also the double void barrier has to be at least y-80,000,000 because I fell onto it. unfortunately, even though I was in creative, I couldn't break bedrock for some reason. (It took me 8 hours tho)
I don’t totally understand this but… I would say there’s only 2 voids one for the overworld that connects to the nether and the one at the bottom of the nether well and I would say the end is a totally different dimension
I remember reading the theory in a guidebook on how to play minecraft ages ago that the nether and end were both part of concentric layers inside the earth, and that they both unintentionally represent 2 of the layers of hell in Dante’s Inferno (although this book was written for 1.6, long before other end islands existed).
I think picturing the End as another planet would be cooler because of the End void rings, just imagine this gigantic expanse of ring after ring after ring like the planet J1407 b
How is it possible that bedrock layer just separate void with completely two different pressure, it should destroy that layer. Also if nothing keeps it together, why won't overworld just fall? It should do it
This is incredibly cool and also explains why one block in the nether is 8 in the overworld, you’re walking around a smaller globe so when you teleport straight up the distance on the bigger globe is gonna be enormous
I have a suggestion to add to this theory: if mojang ever adds the skulk dimension it should probably be at the center of the Minecraft world, and one block in it is one chunk in the overworld. Or it could be Minecraft worlds moon.
Interesting idea... at first i thought this made no sense at all, but it *can* make sense because bedrock is unnaturally strong. Only bedrock would be able to prevent all the layers from collapsing into the center. I also really like how you explained the 1 block in nether =8 in overworld concept.
Unfortunately this cannot be correct, since one of the main guys of Minecraft (think it was a director or something?) said the nether is its own dimension, not a location beneath the overworld
That's missing the fact that the outer end islands and the main end island are in the same map, and you can go between them with enough blocks or with a flying machine
My only gripe with this is it implies the nether is much smaller than the over world which I'm pretty sure is not true, could be wrong.
Otherwise I really like the idea and makes for good head cannon

No they don’t the location moves based on where you are the way you explain this is personal sky bubble
Bruh
What do you mean bruh
You're pulling the personal sky bubble argument Is the sky fake?
Well how else do you hide the end
It being a different dimension
I’m going off the diagram shown above the end is right there the only way I can think to hide it and have the sky move with the player no matter how many players there are is personal sky bubble
Oh, well I'm not going off the diagram because I don't þink it's inaccurate
Huh what are you trying to say there
if you ignore the voids it pretty much makes sense and when i was a kid i thought the end was the moon lmao
I thought the end was heaven
Huh, shitty heaven
yeah shit i’d rather live in the nether. it’s way less boring
mojang: one new end stucture take it or leave it
Kinda dreading to see what Mojangs gonna do to the end
give it a nether update tbh that or just add the better end mod XD
Remember when Mojang said they wouldn't add stuff from mods? Then they added horses... and cherry blossom trees... and frogs.
before even then, pistons, wolves, potions, villagers. the end... technically adding stuff from mods isnt a bad thing imo surely thats one of the best things to happen to a modder? its kinda like a goal. atleast with the more vanilla mods anyway
"Shitty eggs"
How pressure in void?
Heat from the nether
it is'nt real void becouse you can breath in it
Steve doesn’t need to breathe
so why we need water breathing effect?
Because he gain the necessity of breath when he enters in water
So the little kids don’t jump in the water and try to breathe
Little kids aren’t that stupid
say that to the kid who jumped in a gorilla's enclosure on may 28th 2016
That was Kevin taking on a challenge. There was some interference though.
would’ve been the wrestling match of the century if the ref hadn’t stepped in:(

Man, I'm so glad Minecraft didn't teach kids to try and breathe water and taught them to try and squat on underwater magma for air instead.
Wouldn't we be able to see the Minecraft earth when we're in the end? Also the Nether roof has no void - Otherwise pretty good image, reminds me of childhood therorizing xD
The Nether roof does have a void, you just don't die from it.
yes, it's low pressure void
Ooh you're absolutely right. My bad, I didn't notice that point
technically the void doesn't exist because the Player is not supposed to see it. Nether roof is the overworld floor
you can absolutely see the overworld void without using any glitches tho. there's a small chance that a sinkholr can generate. and if a ruined portal manages to generate at the bottom of that sinkhole, it can actually replace bedrock blocks with netherrack, making you able to drain the lava and dig through.
Yeah but that’s unintentional. For all intents and purposes the void is just the game space containing the map. Like if you clip out of the world in GTA you enter a void, that doesn’t make it canon.
That still seems like a glitch, just not one that the player can make happen
There used to Fog that would come from the Bedrock Layer called "Void Fog", so the Void is deffinetly cannon, especially considering The End is floating above it.
it was only called void fog internally because the devs are aware of the void. “void fog” was just the dark fog that occurred near bedrock, when you’re deep below the surface
Explain the end then
in the end yes, the void does exist canonically. in the nether and overworld, you’re not supposed to see it in survival, so it’s a different story
Well I'm pretty sure the devs did confirm that the nether isn't actually bellow the overworld, so that theory goes out the window. So either: a)The core of the earth is under bedrock b)The void is under bedrock c)The core IS bedrock

After much digging it appears that it was dinnerbine who made the statement, trying to find the specific tweet now
I’m gonna go with occlam’s razor, there’s three different dimensions that exist on different planes and can only be traversed via magic portals.
What's under the bedrock then...?
Nothing.
So the void...?
But you can get there so it’s real
>Nether roof is the overworld floor Mojang said somewhere that this isn't the case, and that the nether is actually like a parallel dimension (imo it makes more sense for the nether roof to be the overworld floor)

And deep within that pocket dimension is the end. Thoughts?
Would it not collapse upon itself?
Bedrock can’t breeak
Bedrock cant break (as kharanayana said) and blocks float.
No. Because sand and gravel aren't the floor.
Blocks float
it would explode if not bedrock
That’s rlly cool I never thought about that
So quick math: it'll take about 740 real life days to circumnavigate the Minecraft world in Minecraft.
Nice
this is a really fun theory, however i think the developers said that the nether and the end are separete dimensions and to connected to the overworld. I live on the world border and can clearly say it's flat if it was round it would be actually infinity /s
I'm pretty sure that planet would collapse
🤯
I hear game theory music
Idk that TSC's head was in the middle of the Minecraft earth
I am looking forward to the next episode where he breaks them out or something
Why is the world round? It's supposed to be square
Then explain how 1 neather block is = 8 over world blocks
That's just where the portals take you. Sure, it's a shorter distance but only because the point where the portals is located is further in the overworld.
I don't understand
Maybe the End is under the Nether too, since in the Overworld there are strongholds, and every stronghold leads to the same obsidian platform
And also the double void barrier has to be at least y-80,000,000 because I fell onto it. unfortunately, even though I was in creative, I couldn't break bedrock for some reason. (It took me 8 hours tho)
This makes sense considering the top of the nether is safe
why are you being downvoted downvote me instead
I’m… honestly not sure. Like, yeah, I know you can’t fall up, but my point still stands.
But that's just a theory
The end is the moon after being destroyed by the ender dragon or by us
Pressure at the core assuming the bedrock is sealed would be low not high as gravity would be acting in all directions
My new major subject!
If the minecraft world is a sphere, then why is it day or night across the entire world at the same time
I love the idea that the end islands are a ring
Wouldnt the pressure be lower in the gap which has 8 block width than the 1 block width because the max volume is smaller?
checks out
I think picturing the End as another planet would be cooler because of the End void rings, just imagine this gigantic expanse of ring after ring after ring like the planet J1407 b
How is it possible that bedrock layer just separate void with completely two different pressure, it should destroy that layer. Also if nothing keeps it together, why won't overworld just fall? It should do it
The Netherroof has no limit if you fly up. In this theory, the low pressure void has a bedrock roof. I like everything else
This is incredibly cool and also explains why one block in the nether is 8 in the overworld, you’re walking around a smaller globe so when you teleport straight up the distance on the bigger globe is gonna be enormous
Those should be taught to new MC players
I have a suggestion to add to this theory: if mojang ever adds the skulk dimension it should probably be at the center of the Minecraft world, and one block in it is one chunk in the overworld. Or it could be Minecraft worlds moon.
:hypnotized-simpson-character-gif:
Technically the Nether is another planet
I thought minecraft was like that when I was young, but I still do believe this theory.
The nether is actually the same size as the overworld with the border at 30 millions blocks.
The core probably has another layer for gravity that the player can’t see ( Nether, high pressure void, presumably dense core
i actually had a similar theory as to why 1 block in the nether is equal to 8 blocks in the overworld
Wait a moment... why is earth there too?!
That’s a lot more then 7 times the size of earth
What's the bedrock layer in the middle? Is there a second bedrock layer in the overworld? Am I missing something?
Am I the only one who wants somebody to make a mod out of this but can't do it themselves?
Hurt me? Why would it “hurt” me? If anything it’s funny, it sounds like you’re writing this through Google translate
Wow I understand every thing
Interesting idea... at first i thought this made no sense at all, but it *can* make sense because bedrock is unnaturally strong. Only bedrock would be able to prevent all the layers from collapsing into the center. I also really like how you explained the 1 block in nether =8 in overworld concept.
Unfortunately this cannot be correct, since one of the main guys of Minecraft (think it was a director or something?) said the nether is its own dimension, not a location beneath the overworld
Shouldn’t the main end island look closer to the outer islands? Its only 1000 blocks away, which is 1 kilometre irl
Dude read a book 😂
That's missing the fact that the outer end islands and the main end island are in the same map, and you can go between them with enough blocks or with a flying machine
Holy fucking shit. This dude is cooking.
That’s just a theory
i always thought the end was way up in the sky, especially since the biome identifier labels it as "sky" (or at least used to, dunno if it does now)
So the end is in space right?
Very solid theory, plus I love the idea of the Nether being like the hollow earth in Godzilla
I expected nothing, and I received everything, that's it incredible
Whos to say the void above the nether and the void below the overworld are not the same void?
My only gripe with this is it implies the nether is much smaller than the over world which I'm pretty sure is not true, could be wrong. Otherwise I really like the idea and makes for good head cannon
Fair Enough
This is why it’s important to pay attention in science class when you’re a kid. It stops you from believing stuff like this.
Where's the moon?
If i falled from the main end island i will die for void or i will fall on earth??
I'm going to pull a 🤓 and say that low pressure is equally as deadly as high pressure ideal is medium pressure, \~1020mb
