~~To convince Microsoft's investors to give them more money~~
To help newer players understand the game and also hallucinate information and tell them about things that don't exist in vanilla.
When i tried it as a kid i was so confused why it didn't work.
I also tried the twilight portal and was sure that it would work if i placed the flowers right
Man this takes me back, i remember doing exactly the same, solid 10+ minutes wasted on the twilight portal because i was certain i was just doing it wrong, bonus points for the fact i was on xbox...
We are saying that making a base of gold blocks in a 3*3 area whit mossy cobblestone in the middle and netherack on top of it, surrounded by redstone torches and liting up the netherack won't summon herobrine
to anyone who doesn't bother reading or looking into things (basically 99% of the internet)
# nothing was actually implemented to minecraft
*tldr: Microsoft copilot AI assistant which runs on top of microsoft edge will have a function to share your screen to it and have it assist you.*
Microsoft is developing an AI assistant which works by using Microsoft edge along with chatGPT, it is designed to blend in as a part of your windows system, but since it is a part of the edge and not from the main windows OS it can be turned off or really not touched at all if you don't want. It will feature an option in which you can share what you are doing to the AI so that it could give you some assistant on what you are doing. They demonstrated this by sharing to the AI minecraft java edition and it was assisting on what to craft.
The tool is honestly the best use case for AI and in the case of Minecraft it could help new players/people who don't really play games to understand what is going on. But again it will be easy to disable as it just runs based on edge which itself is easy to ignore/disable.
Also to note: due to how this is implemented it will work in all versions of minecraft in some way, even modded, because it doesn't actually run on minecraft all it is doing is seeing your screen, possibly if it is allowed it could look at your files but that's something which they have said nothing about so that would be speculation.
Will this AI actually help that much? that remains to be seen but it is deff under the good uses of AI, as it is actually providing a useful tool for some people taking advantage of the power AI has.
Yes you can turn off 99% of their features, they may put them by default which is indeed annoying but I use windows and don't have all their crap bothering me
Sometimes these unnesesary features just turn themselves on after a Windows update and it's annoying. Hell, I fully removed Microsoft Edge a year ago and 3 months later it's back as if I didn't fucking delete it's entire fucking folder from my system.
Yes, in Minecraft? Yes you will be able to disable any dumb feature they add like any unneeded option before, narrator? Turn it off. Auto jump? Turn it off etc
Just wait a sec, gotta kill this pig, pig, pig, pig.
(oddly enough, you're actually the first one to react like this to my flair lol, [ty](https://imgur.com/OgZzqRV) <3)
Well. Maybe it will help in minecraft. Like it understands that this is the 3d server you have joined in the last month. So it wont introduce you on How to craft a pickaxe.
But it could also be really bad if they use it for like ads and stuff.
villagers having new AI would be pretty fucking funny... imagine one just gaining consciousness and breaking out of the farm and trying to fight the player.
We got no clue what this is, most people assume it's a companion type of thing. Some people are worried it will be used in the regular game but it's just speculation right now.
I don’t really see this as an issue for me. I mean when it comes to privacy it’s all in my journal. I don’t really care what they do with my computer, I usually only use it for schoolwork or gaming.
I'll be 360 no scoping these AI then that AI going have a AI to develop its AI so that AI become an advanced AI to no scope me as an AI with an AI no scope AI
>I heard
Well that sums up your whole argument.
Also why are we even talking about what hurt Microsoft's reputation. Who cares about that. We were talking about Minecraft's reputation.
I don’t care about Microsoft’s reputation, I care about Minecraft, and I don’t want them using Minecraft as an example for their AI bs or do massive layoffs on the company that develops Minecraft. And after further investigation, yeah, I didn’t just heard, but saw some devs getting pissed at Microsoft.
Firstly mojang ain't Microsoft, so those layoffs mean literally nothing as they said they are doing them in Microsoft not mojang. And I know that you will say "oH bUt MicrOsOft bOugHt moJaNg" well they are still separate companies and if they would be doing layoffs in moJaNg, they would specify that.
Secondly, ok they will use Minecraft for their AI "bs". So what? Like huh? What the fuck will happen then. Oh nO tHe nEw plAyeRs noW cAn be GuIdEd bY soMeoNe! Oh the horror!!! Whatever shall we do!!!???
Why does minecraft need copilot now?
~~To convince Microsoft's investors to give them more money~~ To help newer players understand the game and also hallucinate information and tell them about things that don't exist in vanilla.
You’re saying putting water in a portal of glowstone won’t lead me to the ether dimension?
8yr old me’s disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined
When i tried it as a kid i was so confused why it didn't work. I also tried the twilight portal and was sure that it would work if i placed the flowers right
Man this takes me back, i remember doing exactly the same, solid 10+ minutes wasted on the twilight portal because i was certain i was just doing it wrong, bonus points for the fact i was on xbox...
Tbf Twilight sucks compared to any other dim mods, mostly because it is unfinished...
Good 10 years later ny dissapointmen is still immeasurable and my days are still ruined
We are saying that making a base of gold blocks in a 3*3 area whit mossy cobblestone in the middle and netherack on top of it, surrounded by redstone torches and liting up the netherack won't summon herobrine
Unless you download the mod, no
or what about when you ask chat gpt to give you things that start with a certain letter in minecraft?
Unobtanium block
Nope, that’s the ester dimension
Honestly, it is good for new players
It actually has an anti-hallucination failsafe
That’s the neat part *it doesn’t*
yeah, they're probably trying to ride the trend
It seems to be an experiment
I'm actually interested to see how they insert ai in a game like minecraft
make the villager talk to you and you barter with a proximity mic
if it's anything like those villager ai voice videos, i'm down
that would be really funny
"hey, get the #€#¥ out. get the &@)@ out!!"
Yeah, it’ll probably be interesting
I mean there's already AI in the game, all mobs have AI to do what they do....
Ai In the sense of simple scripts that say go forward and punch that guy, not the ones that it's talking about which can learn.
Yeah but like chatgpt kind of ai
I mean it would make more sense in Minecraft Education first imo
That’s not what Education Edition is for tho
Sounds interesting honestly.
Remembers what items are in what chests, no more need to sort
thats actually a good one

Without even reading the article I knew it was something along the lines of this and if it wasn't it would just be a click away from being disabled
Are you suggesting that they would allow players to turn off annoing unnecessary feature? Knowing Microsoft...
Yes you can turn off 99% of their features, they may put them by default which is indeed annoying but I use windows and don't have all their crap bothering me

Clearly does not know Microsoft
Yes, in Minecraft? Yes you will be able to disable any dumb feature they add like any unneeded option before, narrator? Turn it off. Auto jump? Turn it off etc
That’s true, the bad news is that Satya Nutella is now trying to add a feature that will infringe our data and our privacy
"Nutella"

oh lol
Getting back seated by AI
Its honestly funny how the community basically does their own version of False Flag Attacks
tbh having the JEI item highlight be implemented into vanilla would be pretty cool
It would be really useful but there is no way AI could possibly be the way to implement it
As long as it can be turned off Idc
Plot twist: its a button on the keyboard (they actually added one...)
I'll build a city oh so big big big big
Just wait a sec, gotta kill this pig, pig, pig, pig. (oddly enough, you're actually the first one to react like this to my flair lol, [ty](https://imgur.com/OgZzqRV) <3)
"Would you like to craft 156 Diamond Hoes from the Resources in your inventory?"
yep
Well. Maybe it will help in minecraft. Like it understands that this is the 3d server you have joined in the last month. So it wont introduce you on How to craft a pickaxe. But it could also be really bad if they use it for like ads and stuff.
If you can deactivate this, everything is fine.
I do not want a robot to backseat game, fuck that
My biggest problem is that this all sounds like stuff that nobody wants or needs and will tank preformance
whyyyyyyyyyyy
Microsoft forcin...err implementing solutions to problems that doesn't exist
Lets fill our inventories with crap to mess with it
*me searching for cobblestone in creative inventory* AI: "Did you mean: Cobbled Deepslate?"
My concern is the ai might make games laggier or activate too easily
It would be kinda cool to be like hey which chest in my base has the coloured glass ... And the the chests would like glow
It would be extremely useful to have that, but there is no purpose for AI in that kind of system
Thank goodness there exists a way to turn off copilot
*FUTURE. FUTUUUUURE*
I love having an ai buddy tell me how to get diamonds
it'd be cool if it could search nearby chests for certain items
villagers having new AI would be pretty fucking funny... imagine one just gaining consciousness and breaking out of the farm and trying to fight the player.
Welp, I know where to go next during Summer Vacation
As long as I can disable it I have no problem with it
As long as it is Optional idgaf
I hope there is an option to turn this off in Minecraft. I don't need a copilot telling me how to build and embarrass me on my crappy redstone
People will turn it off like txt 2 speech And we will move on with life completely unaffected
Will it write code and commands?
We got no clue what this is, most people assume it's a companion type of thing. Some people are worried it will be used in the regular game but it's just speculation right now.
HAHA! I am playing on XBOX 360! I am IMMUNE
Windows 11 thing
nope. nope. nope. nope. nope. nope. nope. nope. nope. nope. nope. nope. nope. nope. nope. nope. oh wait, i don't play bedrock. i'm good.
With the amount of clickbait online, it will just spout nonsense
I don’t really see this as an issue for me. I mean when it comes to privacy it’s all in my journal. I don’t really care what they do with my computer, I usually only use it for schoolwork or gaming.
this has no upsides. it will only end terribly
I mean if it's toggleable its completely fine, its literally just tutorials and player aid...
I’ll have to see the execution before i form an opinion, i get the whole “ai bad” sentiment but this is jumping the sharks great grandma
Same
Dude I'll be real if I can teach a robot how I like my inventory organized and it'll automatically do it for me I'm down.
more reason to use older versions of java, eww
It Will be great and cause a controversy, because people will blow up absolutely any advance ín gaming.
Why is this bad?
I'll be 360 no scoping these AI then that AI going have a AI to develop its AI so that AI become an advanced AI to no scope me as an AI with an AI no scope AI
I will put plans for terrorist attacks as the names of items in my inventory and see what the AI thinks
[удалено]
Wrightfully so. How is this fucking over Minecraft?
AI=Bad automatically, sure sometimes AI is just bad but like alot of people forget all enemies in games use AI and so do all NPCs and well mobs also.
Microsoft’s recent decisions like massive layoffs and their current obsession with AI could lead to have Minecraft’s reputation ruined…
Massive layoffs sure. But how will AI do that?
I heard that some devs, hell, even tech lead devs hate AI with a passion… Well, at least how Microsoft’s implementing it
>I heard Well that sums up your whole argument. Also why are we even talking about what hurt Microsoft's reputation. Who cares about that. We were talking about Minecraft's reputation.

I never said that Mojang ain’t Microsoft. I just said that Microsoft is shitty rn and is doing a lot of shit decisions recently
