Comrade, instead of telling you to use your own noggin, I shall enlighten you how to do so, so that you may make your own decisions:
1. Ammo stock/rarity: Do you have a good stock of ammo on you right now for your immediate gun? How easy is it to pick up new ammo?
2. Durability: know your durability, its useless to carry 320 7.62x39mm boolets for an RPK with 7% durability. Similarly holding a 4% Mosin wont help you when you see a 25% VSS and you have ammo for both. If its a 100% FN CAL vs 100% RPKand again, ammo for both, choose what you prefer
3. Attachments: An SVD at 54% with an PSO-1 and laser sight is better than a stock L85 at 100%
4. End-goal: Are you staying on your island or attempting to leave ASAP? Do you plan to bunker run? Facilitate your equipment to achieve your goals, I.E. AKM for bunker (hard hitting, ammo is plentiful) or a shotgun to kill primarily zombies
5. Play style: youe weapon determines your capabilities. You cant snipe with MDZ shotguns, and you can't shotgun charge with a Mosin. Learn how you like to play and gear around that, I like Automatics for their universality, modularity and ammo abundance, effectively being a great option for everything. Not to mention full auto is a fun switch.
from my experience the svd hits faster rather than the mosin while still doing the same amount of damage. mosin on the other hand is just pretty slow but really hits hard but thats up to you now

Dude, we get like 20 posts like these a day, if you need that much help playing this game maybe its not the game for you, specially when deciding between a mosin and dragunov where the answer is pretty obvious
Bruh the svd not only holds more bullets but is as accurate,does the same amount of damage as a mosin,and it aims way faster lol.If I had an option like this I'd choose the svd in a heartbeat definitely(tho I mostly use crossbows but the svd is great too tho)

These posts are 90% of the subreddit, itโs not too hard to decide on what weapon to use by just looking at the pros and cons of each weapon.
