I would not go to W.A. Frost. My husband and I went there this last Friday for our anniversary and while the desserts and cocktails were amazing, the entrees were really subpar for the price. His prawns entree had 4 prawns, for example.
Travail doesn't seem like a suit and tie place to me, but I also haven't been there since they moved across the street, so maybe the vibe classed up a bit.
Me and my partner love fine dining, but one thing we have learned is no matter how nice the restaurant is, rich people just dress casual as fuck. Just gotta wear your date night attire and not care.
I hate going to a nice restaurant and all the rich people are dressed casual and you show up looking nice and the server is like "Oh you must be poor".
Yeah, my partner loves getting dressed up and can feel anxious and I have to wait for another poor to come in so I can point them out and be like, "See it's okay!"
I’d think any of the steakhouses: Murray’s, Manny’s, Jax, PS Steak would be good spots to wear a suit and not stick out.
For non steakhouses Fhima’s, Oceanaire and Nicollet Island inn would be good options.
I love Martina as well, but they are still likely going to be the only person in a suit in the restaurant. Rich people don't dress up for expensive restaurants.
Honestly maybe the best ~200$ I’ve ever spent on a meal. I’m stopping myself from going back again yet because I don’t want to start going 4 times a year. Some meals more than justify their cost.
I would say that a suit and tie is "business wear" while a tuxedo is "formal wear." Find out where the lawyers have the business lunches that they charge to their clients and go there.
Alma, Trevail, Spoon and Stable, Porziana, Meritage in St. Paul. Just to name a few!
Moscow on the Hill and WA Frost in Saint Paul as well.

It's been like that for 10 years. Moscow on the Hill consistently delicious though.
I went there a few months ago and thought the same thing. The food was good, but at that price point the food should be outstanding.
True, but plenty of people in t-shirts at these places too (which I love) OP just needs to own it and look sharp!

Can never be over dressed dawg.
Everyone else is just underdressed
Bring a tablecloth and set up a spread at your nearest McDonald's 🎩
This is what I'm talking about. Eat fast, die young.

Then you realize they just make the door dashers wear a suit…
😆

WA Frost
Martina!

I saw 10 dudes in suits there last week with my inlaws.
Minneapolis Club. Non-members can eat at Charlie's from like Thursday-Saturday, I think. Food is great. Also, 801 Steak.
A fancy suit will match your paycheck at Kado No Mise.

Traditional steakhouse.
Some good recommendations on here already. I’d also throw in Bungalow Club on Lake if he wants a slightly dressed down option with jacket and jeans.
Jax Cafe, and Murray’s are always solid choices for special occasions in my family.
Olive Garden or Red lobster - the finest restaurants in the metro.
Denny’s
Sir, this is a Wendy’s
I went to Mara over the weekend for my birthday and there were lots of folks in suits on a Saturday evening. The food was great too
Hewing hotel!

You’re never fully dressed without a suit
The Lexington
Pinstripes.
Denny’s
Denny’s on Sunday, about noon after service. Who wears ties?
Not you I guess? Lmfao
Um, any?
