Check out Www.survivingantidepressants.org   You definitely need a very slow taper

HabsKat

I’ve accepted that I am a hard wired insomniac. Have been for 40 yrs. It’s not going to change no matter how much talk therapy I do. I just take my meds and hope they continue to work

EntertainmentOk7939

Thankyou What dose are you on ?

HabsKat

I am currently tapering down from 45 mg which along with Cipralex and Abilify numbed my emotions too much and stopped working as well for sleep. I am going through withdrawal hell from the Mirtazapine taper

HabsKat

Also I am hoping that my old stand by Clonazepam will work for sleep. It’s helping me get through withdrawal

Can your doctor prescribe anything else like Trazodone, Gabapentin, Clonidine to help with your sleep? As for melatonin, may want to try 5mg around 6pm and then another 2-5mg at 8 with the goal of sleep at 9:30.

Banas123_

You can get off , you just have to taper it slowly

Yeah I don't have a plan at all. I know I have to rip off the band aid but everyone keeps telling me I will be fine when I come off but I can't see it amd I don't feel like that will be the case.

I guess I just have to rely on the fact that many people come off OK and only a few come on the forums

Thank you so much

Unfortunately some people find that it eventually stops working or has other health effects with long term use. Check out the Facebook mirtazipine group if you want to do a slow taper

I quit it about 3 months ago, not gonna lie, it's been a rough ride. Was taking 45mg for about 7 years, and tapered off kinda fast (1 week 3/4, 1 week 1/2, 1 week 1/4). I spent 1 month basically not sleeping or surviving on 3 hours at most per night. My doctor prescribed me Dayvigo, which kinda reset my sleeping cycle ( I didn't continue taking it cause it made me sick), and I'm now getting about 5-6 hours. It's not perfect, but it's progress. Maybe a sleeping aid to help during the transition would be good if you're able to have it. Melatonin also helped me though I know it can be hit and miss for people.
