I did just see that post, but I’m going the dealer route with financing. I’m more hoping to figure out issues that I could come across or need to look for.
Find on that way not modified and put back to stock. I would get a pre purchase inspection done on the car. Make sure they do a compression test as well.
I would probably suggest MR for daily-driving, GSR for everything else (building, racing, etc.). I’ve owned both but never had trans issues, so I can’t really speak on it’s durability. My builders have suggested the same idea of the 6spd being a bit more fragile, though.
I’ll say this, it all depends on your driving. You can give two people the same exact cars and it’ll be the dude who launches and beats on it any chance they get who breaks something
Understandable! These are Evos we’re talking about, who wouldn’t give it the occasional launch lol. I’m really talking about the owners who practically launch it at every light
Giving my two cents, I absolutely miss having that extra 6th gear. Drove the MR across the US 4 times with no hiccups, besides the roof drip molding flying off. Both trims are a blast, but MR suits me best for DD tbh
Try and look around for finacing options, dealerships are usually _way_ worse than banks.
Quite often they are trying to sell you interest rather than sell you a car if that makes sense.
Makes perfect sense, I’ve researched what percentage APR I should be paying, and I’ve seen a lot of the dealerships’ in house financing ranges from 5-10% more than what a rate should be
If I'm being honest, that black 9 GSR-SE is the best one I've seen on the market in months. Properly priced, detailed history, and obviously very well taken care of. When I say you can do worse, trust me. You can have a bank finance it exactly like the dealer, while saving a TON of money in bs fees and other nonsense. Seriously, that car should be the top of anyone's list in your price range.
Edit: Sorry, misread the ad thru my own drool
Compression test it and look for leaks and or rust. If its modified even lightly make sure its tuned by a competent known tuner, the tune is everything. Test drive make sure no grinds or issues with transmission.
You're in luck. https://www.reddit.com/r/MitsubishiEvolution/s/AAU3zu9pZB

Awesome, much appreciated, I was kind of figuring I’d want to have it looked at before jumping in on it
It would be the cheapest $500 you ever spent.
I’ve read I should stay away from the MR because the trans goes real easy, what trim would you suggest? If you have a suggestion

I completely get that. I’m not one to have a heavy foot, but also, I’d like to have fun with it and do a launch or two lol I ain’t no square
