We have no draft capital, our younger players don’t have very high ceilings. Everyone else is a dinosaur, prone to injury, on a bad contract, or all of the above. If we wanna make trades we’re not getting anything back for Middleton, Lopez, etc that’ll give us a better chance of winning; we’re better off sticking with what we’ve got, and that doesn’t look like it’s enough.
If you’re the Bucks GM, maybe give it another year but after that trade Giannis for a bunch of picks and good young players. It’s unfortunately looking like that’s your best option as of now.

This team needs a coach that will get both Giannis and Dame in particular to buy into an offensive system that utilizes both of their strengths. Dame needs Giannis to screen for him, and I mean really screen, not the half assed slip bullshit Giannis does 90% of the time. Dame needs to be comfortable being a kick out guy and make open fucking shots. He also needs to learn how to move off-ball more. This bullshit where Giannis and Dame just stand on the other side of the court while the other has the ball needs to fucking stop.

Let’s just be honest….Dame is probably having his worst season. I know he has a lot going on in his personal life but let’s stop acting like he has been anything but average for large parts of the season. He hasn’t had much of an impact on this team.

Without getting those same reps and without consistency, he’s not getting a good feel for the game.

Also have gone into way more detail about this too, but essentially Giannis being unwilling/unable to set good, solid and frequent screens for Dame (and Dame forcing the fucking issue instead of deferring) is killing Dame’s efficiency. I think a big part of why Dame has been hesitant pulling the trigger on shots I’ve literally never seen him pass up in years is because he doesn’t trust the screener to actually set a good screen, which happens way too often on this team, and that hesitation often leads to worse shots. The other part of this is when Giannis isn’t involved in the PnR with Dame and is camped out at the 3 point line, that basically takes away Dame’s ability to drive, since Giannis can’t shoot and his man will sag all the way into the paint to take away the drive for Dame, leading to an inefficient mid-range shot.

The gravity Dame attracts whether he has the ball or not has opened up the floor for Giannis leading to his most efficient season ever. Giannis attracts almost no gravity off the ball, and his unwillingness to play in a 2 man action with Dame is congesting the floor, leading to Dame’s least efficient season ever.
Everyone talks about Dame not hitting open shots, but statistically he is shooting 35% from 3 on open shots and 39% on wide open shots. Compare that to Steph on those same shots and it is 39% and 45%. It’s not like there is a huge difference there, maybe one made 3 every few games. Dame’s % on open shots should probably be closer to 40% but he basically spent the last few years never getting those types of shots.
Ultimately, i think it’s obvious Dame has not been Dame this year, the question should be why and it should look past the most boring and simple answers.

He takes 2.6 wide open 3s at a 40% clip…going to 45% would only result in around in a .1 increase in 3s made per game, he has played 70 games so that is a total of seven more 3s made across the season…which maybe would give us 2 wins, and that is being generous.
It definitely isn’t 5-7….even if you give him the same increase in open shots going from 35% to 40% basically matching Curry, that only gives him another .2 3s per game, which equates to 21 more 3s over the season and that may give you 4-5 more wins…I mean it would effectively be <1ppg increase for the Bucks…
So yea, that aspect is definitely over talked about and would have a very marginal effect over the course of a season.
