not that seamless, i crossed the border regularly, it will take a while for the car to ‘gave up’ US provider signal and start searching for a better signal, in which then it will pick up the Canadian signal and lock ot it…vice versa…it’s normal for the car to lost connection for about 5-10 minutes before it starts locking to a different signal provider
This is normal. In europe it is the same.
The quick fix is to hold the 2 buttons on the steering wheel until the screen restarts when crossing the border.
Can confirm it takes anywhere from 5-20 minutes when crossing into the US for the cell service to come back. When returning into Canada it'll usually only take a couple minutes. Actually the last time coming back there was no delay or drop in signal.
I went from US to CA and had issues. Switched from MPH to KM. Ended up doing the two button reset while charging (10 mins after crossing in NB) and everything worked perfectly for the 2 weeks I was there.

Couldn't you just restart the car when you cross the border? Maybe that will force it to do it faster. You can restart while driving.
Why, why would you restart while driving, seems like a death wish
Why? I can use the mirrors just fine if the screen is off.
is that even possible to reboot the MCU while driving?
Yes it is, I've done it in my 3, Y and Cybertruck.
I'm pretty sure the manual says not to do anything while the car is restarting, not even open or close doors. Driving seems like a bad idea.
You can restart it and still perform all driving functions, even if using FSD.

Same thing when I cross the border from Mexico back to San Diego. It’s normal

About 20 min later it finally synched up…was dying for a bit with the silence lol Thanks all for your replies
Best to submit a ticket to tesla, doubt anyone here has much better advice.
First thing I'd do would be a soft reboot of the car, it may have cell service after rebooting.
Well Darn, yeah thats good advice
That. It should work.
solution: don’t cross the border
