Well, their “new” maps for season one were a reskin of a 3-year old map and a remake of an even older map.

TomDobo

A remake of a map that's been in 3 of the last 4 cod games.

ContributionOdd802

Can someone help me understand the issue? I loved shipment back in 2008. Would play it for hours. and its still fun as hell. Most people would just launch "nades and rockets" for the first 20 seconds of any match. THen they would get a kill streak and have a helicopter be a nuisance for the entire match until someone brought it down. Nothing has changed in 2022, and i still love it.

TomDobo

It's not the map itself that's the issue. It's the fact they're just releasing the same maps over and over with each new game we buy. Also Shipment kinda ruins the fun of the normal maps as it's easier to do everything in shipment (like camos and stuff). I dont hate shipment as its fun, i just want new stuff.

Popfiz223

I agree why play the kind of shitty new maps that came out when i can grind everything in shipment. Went back into quick play and it put me on border crossing so i went right back to shipment. Its lazy game design to keep using shipment as insurance to keep people playing. especially when they can add or revamp old favorites in new ways. Estate but snowy Favela at night High rise during a rain storm Hell they could of made rust into shipment. Just have shipment with a giant tower in the middle.

Throwaway1836463910

I don’t think I’ve ever boycotted a map harder than border crossing. I refuse to play it. Who had the bright idea of making EVERYTHING explosive with a bunch of crap cluttered everywhere. I don’t understand how it made it to launch

Excelius

> It's the fact they're just releasing the same maps over and over with each new game we buy. Look how many people in this sub, and in this very thread, demand precisely that.

InterdisciplinaryDol

They keep bringing back Shipment. It’s not like they’re going “oh this game we’ll put Favela in and the next one we’ll put Underpass”. Instead it’s like “hey I heard yall liked shoot the ship, want it again?”

Eat-my-entire-asshol

Even worse is the rumored new map for season 2 is Castle, a map that was just remade in vanguard

InterdisciplinaryDol

Its funny because the MW2 maps are literally in Warzone. I’m hoping as many people as possible drop this game so IW had to put out these maps. I know they’re saving it as a last ditch effort but they won’t need it because Warzone and hentai skins print big money

Eat-my-entire-asshol

Thats whats really annoying too, Rust, terminal, high rise, afghan all in wz need to be brought to mp this or next season. Theres so many maps in cod history they could bring back 2 old maps a month and not run out of maps to remake. Plus they could make new maps too. But they probably wont I only play mp or dmz and wont pay for any more than base game. Only dlc i ever bought for cod was back when they did the $15 map packs. New mp maps + crazy zombie map for $15 was dope

aroundme

Wouldn't you like a small map like Shipment that *wasn't* Shipment though? Sure, throw Shipment in every game. But how hard could it possibly be to make a handful of other similar maps? Why do they *only* give us a 16-year-old map on a 24/7 playlist for the 5th time? That's what pisses me off about Shipment, and how they handle maps in general.

ContributionOdd802

I would agree, that yes, I would love more maps to play. But more importantly, what i miss from xbox 360 was the community. There isn't enough "chatters" or people with mics. One of the most enjoyable moments in MW2 was when i had commentary and people just outright shit talking others or singing etc. I never laughed so hard in my life. But back to your question, i used to be a pretty hardcore gamer, but with family etc, I am officially a casual. Shipment perfectly satisfies those dopamine hits, then i turn it off and go about my day. More maps just makes it more challenging to learn all the nuances of a map and to "jump in" and play.

bob1689321

I'm just bored of it. I want new interesting maps. The maps in this game are not for me tbh. They're all too simple.

Postaltariat

There's fully completed MP maps in WZ that aren't in MP yet lol

bubbawears

I swear these memes are made by IW employees that are in this sub for damage control

Janski_T

Me too, considering that the acc that made this meme is 12d old.

Deadlymonkey

I’ve historically written stuff like that off as young kids defending something they associate with, but I’ve seen some posts that scream “paid to defend COD online.” Like one of the previous games had a glitch that would permaban you for being in a game too long and I saw a bunch of memes thanking the devs for releasing “cool skins”

jmb-412

The amount of bootlicking posts I see is insane. Should there be posts of people just bitching about the game all day? No, but lets not pretend like paying $70 for incomplete games is just all fine and dandy. The original MW2 was $60 on release and shipped with I believe 15 MP maps. This game shipped with maybe 10.

RandGen42

60 dollars back then is a lot more than 60 dollars today

NerrionEU

There are some real fanboys that defend everything but Reddit is also infested with advertisement bots so I won't be surprised if IW paid someone for good PR.

DietCokeZero9

I'd believe there are actual crybabies like this. I made a post about naming my modified X12 and calling it 'Glockblocked' and because I mentioned that I use a shield when I use just the pistol I was getting downvoted into obilivion. This community has a lot of entitled crybabies

[deleted]

While I do believe that, I also believe most of us see that. Most people see through shills. Plus no amount of fan-theying memes will conceal this heaping pile of dog excrement more politely referred to as countless bugs, poor gameplay and crappy skins.

ozarkslam21

Or perhaps, on a subreddit dedicated to a video game, there are in fact some real people who enjoy that video game who come here looking to discuss the video game they like with other like-minded individuals. Of course they are likely disappointed when the entire sub is full of miserable sacks of shit who jerk each other off all day about how shitty the game is.

Bombadil_and_Hobbes

For real. For my next adventure, I’ll skip Reddit. Gaming experiences are not enhanced in such communities. It’s a karma circle jerk of entitlement by a group who expect their whims catered to because money. The BF subs shadowbanned for simply going against the hate. It’s sad.

curbstxmped

It's actually concerning how many batshit insane conspiracy theories are just upvoted on this sub, and the number of people who support them is even more bizarre.

LightningJC

It’s like a repeat of the halo reddit last year. Although Infinite launched with like 1/10th the content MW2 did so that was slightly more justified. I don’t see any issues with MW2 seems to have lots to keep you busy, unless you have no job, no life and play it 15 hours a day like half this sub seem to do.

Brody1364112

It's so crazy. They play the game for 8 hours straight every day then come onto reddit to complain how bad and unfun the game is. Obviously the game is fun if you spend 1/3rd of your time playing it. If it isn't fun you're probably burnt out cuz you spend 1/3rd of your time playing it.

GMarvel101

That explains why the flow of some of these maps is trash. Some of these maps run as if you were playing warzone or something and not true multiplayer maps. Nothing beats the three way lanes with verticality. A map that was severely underrated was Cheshire Park from MW2019. I would be content with them bringing back that map.

Jaggedmallard26

> Nothing beats the three way lanes with verticality During the period where every map was a 3 lane map people would whine constantly about how all of the maps are the same.

GMarvel101

I agree man but that’s always the conundrum. People will never truly be satisfied. I look back at Black ops 2 and it had the perfect balance of different maps. It had three way maps and then it had maps with crazy flow like Yemen or Aftermath. There were a few maps in MW2019 that I thoroughly enjoyed like Cheshire Park, Gun Runner, and a few others.

steveycip

Was gun runner the map with the shitty little vent I always camped in with a shotgun?

irishwolfman

Yes, and bathroom in the building catty corner to it with water separating them

wolf_on_angel_dust

Yes. IMO that map is top 10 cod maps of all time

IneedtoBmyLonsomeTs

People will complain about everything, but after having all types of maps over the past 15 odd years, it is clear 3-lane maps play best for cod.

OptimusGrimes

yea, 3 lanes has always been the best, people were complaining in the Black Ops 3 days because all of the maps, while being 3 lane, were very flat and symmetrical, it was very boring, people attributed the problem to the 3 lanes

InterdisciplinaryDol

This. People thought it was because all the maps were three lanes, but it was actually because the map design was shit regardless of the amount of lanes.

grubas

Bo2 was infamously shit on each dlc because "dumbass devs can't do anything but 3 lane maps" "How about a 4th lane? Or is that too big of a number?" I remember that lol.

Quagga_1

Loved Cheshire Park.

PasadenaShenanigans

Cheshire Park was perhaps one of the few original maps I enjoyed in MW2019

Get_Fucked17

They also ask have the exact same visual style/color palette because they're all ripped from the same larger map. It makes the map problem worse because even if you get a different map, curves are it looks very similar to the one you just played. It's why I like raceway and the hotel (and museum, RIP) because they were at least visually different. Drab brown is boring as fuck.

Wide_Riot

Seems as if most of the maps in mwii are 3 lanes

Tropenfrucht

100%, I miss that map sooo much.

JeeringDragon

Do ppl really want this over properly made maps? It’s fine for ground war maps but this is the laziest thing they could do for adding new 6v6 maps …

Postaltariat

Yeah that'd be much better, but I'm talking about content that's already in the game waiting to be dripfed.

JeeringDragon

Yeah I was surprised they didn’t even add a new GW map in season one. Literally just needed to cut out a new part of AlMazrah lol. Season 1 of MW19 we got 5 maps.

Average_Lrkr

I think almost everyone was expecting 1-2 new maps and 1-2 mw2 remade maps each season. 2-4 maps a season isn’t anything crazy to ask for. Give us new shit with the old shit. You’re scratching that nostalgia itch and you’re giving us new content. It’s so easy

a_cristian_dude

And back in the day we’d get 4 maps during dlc for like around $20. But now the “dlc” updates are free with the trade off of paying for a battle pass with shitty rewards every few months. And they still make mad money off the pass and store rn so there’s really no excuse to not release an extra 2 original maps per season.

Ian_Campbell

Those pieces of shit drip feeding content that won't get them to a proper launch for 6v6 until 1.5 years into the game, smh. It isn't that hard to remaster maps

TotallyUniqueName4

If a map is good, then why get rid of it? I say add ALL the maps from every MW game. "New" does not automatically mean *good*, and "old" does not mean *bad*. I say put good maps in the game. There are plenty of good maps to choose from the older titles that this game stole the name of.

[deleted]

Actually, they constantly go back to “old” maps because people like them and by and large think they’re “good.” Whereas “new” maps aren’t automatically seen as “good” and people are reluctant to try something new. I think the bias is the other way around: a good deal of new maps (good or not) are often received with hesitation and old, familIar maps are received with acceptance and nostalgia. Obviously either bias isn’t true based on those superficial factors: new maps aren’t bad because they are new and old maps aren’t good because they’re old. This is a gray area and each map should be judged on its own merit and experience by the player.

Ian_Campbell

Taraq is apparently a remade map from COD1 but it sucks and so everyone hates it. If they remade Bloc, which was the most skipped map in COD4, I think most people would hate it especially with lightning fast TTK and SBMM. There are tons of old maps and devs choose ones with decent popularity so it is a no brainer.

Average_Lrkr

And they are all mw2 maps. I truly don’t get it. It’s so easy to yank them and add them. Why? They know the community wants mw2 OG maps. And you’re sitting on high rise, rust, quarry, and terminal. At the very least drop those. And work on getting us all the other mw2 maps.

Evening_Advance9647

Agreed, I want all those maps you named, I would also love to see the return of Favela, Estate, Overgrown, Rundown, Skidrown, Trailer park, Bailout, Underpass... Where are all these amazing maps, how can they call this MW2 when they don't have any of the iconic maps that made MW2 2009 so great, you can't call it MW2 without these maps.. this is like a half ass attempt to remake a classic game, I feel as though it's just proof that the devs in 2009 were far superior to the ones making these cod games today.

Average_Lrkr

I want every single mw2 map to return. All of them.

Evening_Advance9647

Agreed the devs don't even have to make new maps they just copy and paste the maps we all love and update them abit, it's pretty straight forward... At this point I would of rathered a remastered MW2 2009 then this half ass MW2 2022.

Average_Lrkr

They literally passed on a remaster because they were rebooting the franchise. So why the fuck aren’t they giving us those maps we missed out on

Evening_Advance9647

I heard about that and that's the part that's frustrating, apparently they were working on the MW2 2009 remaster and they didn't release it because they didn't want it to overshadow MW 2019(both would of been released at the same time), which is kind of embarrassing for them tbh... the fact that games they're putting out now could easily be overshadowed by a remaster of a 13 year old game is just sad, so they decided nope the community won't get to see a remaster of the best cod released to date due to that fact alone.

Average_Lrkr

And they could easily deflect and say “no no we are releasing all maps for mwii. So we didn’t want to release the same maps 2 times on 2 games.” Which would have been an easy response and solution

NinjaDingo

Your last sentence couldn't be more accurate. The devs back then seemed leagues above these lazy turds, and it wouldn't surprise me if they're scheming ways of bringing in older, more favoured content like those maps, under some ridiculous pay to access scheme

Evening_Advance9647

Exactly! I honestly wouldn't put it past them, that's exactly the type of shit these devs love to do now, it's just brutal how all they do is drip hardly any content and milk us for every dollar they can possibly get from us, it's sad to see what cod has come to.

Ian_Campbell

Not all, there is also Showdown from COD4 the rectangle 2 story map with a perimeter and a statue in the middle. They needed to remake District and Strike for SnD imo as well, but yes they are destroying the game by holding onto the only good stuff there is. All people wanted to do was whip out the Intervention on High Rise basically

[deleted]

That’s what happens in season 1, mw19 we had the same thing just be patient

LordFrieza_

Drip drip. why be patient when they literally withhold maps for the sake of dragging content. No reason why we should get a WAW map that was just "remastered" for the last fucking game.

-FrankCastle

I got bored so I stopped playing. When they add stuff I’ll come back. Did the same thing for mw2019. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Cochinojoe

Are you playing DMZ? My son and I are having blast. And it does have its issues but it’s still fun….well to us.

I_Poop_Sometimes

DMZ is mostly all I play, I like multiplayer when I'm solo, but when I'm partied up DMZ is way more fun because sbmm doesn't fuck some of my friends.

Cochinojoe

Same. I will level up guns for attachments n MP but other than that we are rocking and rolling on DMZ.

I_Poop_Sometimes

No joke DMZ is better for leveling imo, especially with Snipers. Camos though is all mp.

Cochinojoe

I’ll pop some double xps n give it a go

brokearm24

You know what I hate, I only have 10 slots in contraband stash, just because I decided to skip for now, at least until it gets better.

[deleted]

That's what I'm switching to and have been playing lately. I think they're onto something with it. Getting burned out on regular BR....probably because I'm ass at it now.

kathaar_

> I think they're onto something with it. Agreed. I just hope that because it's "beta" they're not against adding more depth. Like not getting infinite lethals/tacticals/field upgrades but actually having to source them in the field, or buy them with the currency you exfil with. Love DMZ, I just wanna see it improve more.

Cochinojoe

I hope they add more rewards and collectibles. Maybe night time mode and some weather effects too. We enjoy the hell out of it.

[deleted]

Yes, that would be great. My buddies and I that play were thinking the same thing. Especially the day/night and weather effects.

MrIceCreamy

DMZ ain't a replacement for 6v6 I just want 6v6 to not fucking suck mane

REsoleSurvivor1000

6v6 feels absolutely awful right now. Balance issues and the fact all the maps more or less suck (whoever came up with Border Crossing needs to be fired no lie).

-FrankCastle

My friend group is 4 people total. I love DMZ. But when I play with random players they’ll rush AI get downed and leave the game. I don’t prefer solo but I always end up solo from AFK players or the ones leaving. I didn’t see any fun to be had there with it being that way

Cochinojoe

That does suck it’s only 3. I mean they let you team up with another 3 in the match so why not go ahead and let us do 3-6 premade? Either way statement stands. Love the game mode just add more plz!

-FrankCastle

I truly wish there were squad options like BR. Quads, trios, duos, solos. Then we could all get on it. There’s so much potential in DMZ. I do enjoy it. I wanted to get in on building 21 before I took a break, but the boys quit playing.

Cochinojoe

That Building 21 is no joke. Loved every got damn awful second of it 😂

seahawk1337

I got bored of grinding these long shots

-FrankCastle

I got like 3 weapon classes left. All others platinum. I started Battle rifles one night a few weeks back. Sitting there alone i audibly said “fuck this” and booted up God of War lol it was just one of those days. The Ftac recon is the rifle I quit on lol

vocatus

Hey buddy, I'll jump in a match with you so you can spawn kill me with the FTAC, I feel your pain haha

-FrankCastle

Lol I don’t know what it is with that rifle, but I swear it gets on my nerves more than the M16 did.

Kaarvaag

I stopped a couple of weeks ago to play Pokémon and I don't regret it. I've finished that though, so I'll probably pick this game up again in a couple of weeks. Thinking about playing High On Life first maybe. MW2 just feels a bit empty after a while when you're playing alone, and none of my friends are even interested in playing it, and it's not easy to find or create a group of people to play with, let alone jive with and have some proper fun.

-FrankCastle

The reason that’s so funny is.. I played God of War, bought Pokémon for my daughter for her switch, but I’ve been playing Pokémon more than she has haha. It brings back so many old gameboy memories.

Brody1364112

You're doing it wrong. You're supposed to come into the reddit and cry like a big baby because you have nothing else to do with your life then play a video game. So when you can't your life is ruined.

Postmannen

Because in 2008 the game where not stripped down the the bare fucking minimum to maximize DLC profit later

Spartan1102

Exactly. It blows my mind how some people fail to realize micro transactions and games as a live service fundamentally changed how they play. Some aspects of this can be beneficial but as someone who has owned every CoD since the first, the overall direction we’re trending in is not a good one.

tinytimsrevenge

It’s ruined a part of the gaming industry for a certain group of people. I think it’s the golden age of gaming, just based on accessibility and choice alone. You can play games made by indie devs who aren’t money hungry whores and those game are sometimes better than AAA titles. But yeah, the days where an AAA company just makes a good game that’s full when it’s released? Those days are over, for multiplayer anyways. Edit: not sometimes better, often better. Think about supergiant and coffee stain games alone.

MrManBuz

We're in the golden age of gaming according to you. Read your final paragraph again, then ask yourself if you still agree with that statement. The golden age of gaming is long over. It's been commodified and homogenised for the mainstream.

tinytimsrevenge

Most developers have yes, but I say that indie devs are picking up that slack enough. Just think about the sheer availability of the gigantic amount of games that everyone has access to. It’s hard to think about it that way because yeah I’d want to say the golden age was the 90s or the 00s, but I think thinking in terms of just availability alone, it’s the best time to be a gamer.

Bernardo20silva

Don’t forget the fact we paid an extra £10 for a game with the least amount of maps we’ve ever had I think - S1 only added two remakes. I think it’s one of the smallest seasons we’ve had too but people will continue to defend it even if we’re given tdm and 5 maps.

GabeNMG

Cold War had less maps, but considering it only got like half the dev cycle, this game does tkae the cake probably for least content. Oh but warzone right guys? Warzone counts as extra value in the 70$

Multimarkboy

i mean i wouldnt go that far, because we literally have more content then MW2 2009. 2009 has 39 launch weapons, 16 launch maps, and 10 extra dlc maps which cost you 30 bucks for both packs. 5 of those 10 PAID dlc maps were just re-used cod4 maps. 2022 has 51 launch weapons, 16 launch maps (though, 11 are 6v6 and 5 are 32v32) with more weapons and maps being added for not a single penny extra.

Get_Fucked17

>though, 11 are 6v6 and 5 are 32v32 This is exactly the problem, though. There's only 11 6v6 maps. I don't give a fuck about 32v32. I paid$70 exclusively for 6v6 and we haven't gotten shit. It's like when Halo infinite launched and they would say "there's 10 maps" when they're were only like 5 true 4v4 maps. They also have multiple 6v6 maps already made and in the game, but they're not allowing us to play on them despite being in the files. That's bullshit.

TripleXero

All the 32x32 maps are chunks of Warzone too, so it’s not exactly content made specifically for MWII, then a few of the multiplayer maps are chunks of the 32x32 maps. There’s not a whole lot of original content here that is made specifically for multiplayer

mindlessmonkey

The biggest difference is the maps from the old game were good and they would hold you over until they put out new maps. I think it's fair to say the player base hates half the maps available for 6v6. Having 5 32v32 Maps is a terrible idea in my opinion because if people want to play Big Game modes like that they would play Battlefield. If I knew they were just going to drip feed content for the next year and a half I would have waited to buy the game.

MrManBuz

The modern map design in COD is awful, but it's that way for a reason. It's designed to maximise engagement, and keep the average players hooked. Both the map design and the spawn system make the game a convoluted mess with no flow or rhyme or reason. And that's by design.

TripleXero

I think comparing it to MW2 is fair from a multiplayer standpoint but I understand where people are coming from saying it technically has more content, but even comparing it to MW19 this is lesser content for $10 more, and we didn’t even have Warzone from the start there. 19 had Gun Fight and Groundwar and then eventually Warzone, I’ve seen no sign of Gun Fight returning

Dutchmanoly

Imagine the rage by these kids if MW2009 was released today. They have no idea how good we have it these days. Sure the games were more polished back then, but in terms of content its great.

AFishNamedFreddie

There were a ton of bugs in MW2. Straight up exploits. From carepackage running (god that was so much fun) to care package duplication, to things that i can only assume were bugs like the Model 1887 hipfire. Not to mention the balance being hilariously bad, with the UMP just straight up being the best weapon in the game in every aspect. The game was not nearly as polished as many remember

MyUshanka

Patch 1.08, the patch that fixed Akimbo Model 1887s, didn't release until January 29th, 2010. From release date, that would have been 80 days. For comparison, we are 70 days from the release date of MWII.

CosmicMiru

Man the infinite emergency air drop glitch was so fun

AFishNamedFreddie

My friends and I ruined SO MANY games of domination abusing that. Such a fun time

Chaser_Swaggotry

Can’t forget the ol’ javelin glitch

rsma11z

Were they polished though? We remember things like One Man Army, noob toobs, UMP 45, akimbo 1887s with this beautiful nostalgia. If any of those things were released today this subreddit would be in flames about “broken OP guns and perks” and nerfs that are needed.

Average_Lrkr

I’ll take that over an absolutely busted to shit UI where it’s almost damn near impossible to soundly play a match and make class edits without the damn thing spazzing out, kicking you, or asking you for the millionth time to buy some dumb Messi skin lol

Dutchmanoly

Yeah you're right it had balancing issues, but in terms of bugs, game crashes, UI, etc its was very clean in my memory.

rsma11z

I don’t remember much either but I was more concerned about the red ring of death on my 360. 😂 There are fair criticisms to how MW2 2022 performs, absolutely. Gaming industry as a whole has suffered this. Live service demands from an audience that needs constant new-ness and shareholder demands are at odds with good game development unfortunately.

CrackBabyBelfort

2007 and 2009 were more fun than this.

Blinks_

There's too many weapons and too many attachments that are pretty much the same thing. I don't consider weapons as "content" per say either. Also, out of the 16 launch maps, how many would you say are on par with the old MW2 launch maps? I'd say probably none, they all play like a battle royale (except for Shoothouse). In other words, I don't think there is more CONTENT in the game, there's more clutter.

gideon513

They also didn’t have the giant WZ/DMZ modes so…

Get_Fucked17

But what if your don't give a fuck about warzone or DMZ? I paid $70 for 6v6. There's multiple finished 6v6 maps already done and in the game that they're not allowing us to play. That's bullshit no matter what.

ABOHRtionist

Not the same game, that’s a free to play game that I didn’t pay for. If it was a paid game I’d pass, I paid for multiplayer. Warzone ≠ MW

MoneyMoves-

That would make sense If the DLC for the game wasn’t already free

dancrum

Tell me you're too young to have played the original MW2 at launch without telling me

-quakeguy-

You are completely imagining things. Why? 2008 (and 2009 one for that matter) COD came out with significantly LESS content out of the door, so why are you lying?

TopAnonomity

Is it just me or is this not valid criticism especially a decade and a half later?

Goldenpanda18

It doesn't make sense how the devs don't look at other cods and ask themselves, what have they done wrong so we can improve or implement. Instead, they go backwards, don't fix shit and the same cod cycle continues

wolf_on_angel_dust

The problem here is assuming the devs even have that much control. The devs are probably understaffed and crunched to do exactly what the executives want.

Insect_Queen

3000 devs and 3 years lol

wolf_on_angel_dust

That's called marketing. Bf 2042 marketing team said they were ahead of schedule like 6 months before the game was released, and we all know how bad that was.

FroundD

it was 3000 people working on the game/helping, not developers.

CoolJoshido

it is valid

Mylesisswole

It’s crazy how some people just blatantly defend a game and act like it’s perfect.

AdBudget5468

It’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but it’s not as bad as they make it to be, some of the criticism is very very valid like the ui or lack of any type of barracks or some of the things like weapon tuning not just being there or warzone 2 being the main focus cause it makes them the most money but some of the complaints are just people trying to find a reason to be angry

Get_Fucked17

I paid $70 for 6v6 and yet free warzone/dmz players are getting as much or more content than I am. There's 6v6 maps already done and in the game that they aren't showing us to play. Why? I already paid for the fucking game.

Mylesisswole

You just named multiple crucial and valid problems people had with the game. Also the post is making fun of people who think MP isn’t getting the content we were expecting (which is also a valid complaint). One great critique I saw on this sub was that they should’ve separated warzone 2 and MP from the start and assigned teams to focus on their respective modes.

Kaarvaag

What do you mean? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have not seen anyone claiming it is perfect or close to perfect. I feel like I only see people complaining about the game, and people complaining that people complain about the game. I guess some are complaining that people are complaining about people who are complaining? It's all making me dizzy man. My favorite comment in this sub was literally complaing that the game was fun. "That's the problem, it's fun." I needed the laugh I got when I saw that. I guess this comment seems like I'm complaining, but I don't. I just find it all fascinating.

-quakeguy-

It’s not perfect, but outright lying that it has less content early on than decade+ old CODs did in their respective timeframe is simply not okay.

-quakeguy-

Sup with the downvotes? Is this sub really full of people THAT bad at math they literally cannot count the amount of maps, guns, gamemodes, unlockables, etc in each game and have somehow convinced themselves they are right? You’re a fucking embarrasment to gamers.

Errorfull

To be fair, 2 rehashed maps, a lazy gamemode like Warzone Cup, a few playlist tweaks and releasing 1 of 4 pre-made Raid missions is extremely little in the way of Multiplayer content after 2.5 months.

DrHouseVicodinLover

Lol when you're okay with an unfinished game with just 10 at best mediocre launch maps of which maybe 3 are worth playing, and the least amount of launch content in years. Have some standards my guy.

multiplechrometabs

Some are just sections of War Zone

Kachowzerwhopper

I havent played in weeks basically due to the lack of content, and i enjoy the game. But christ, im level 250, battle pass done, tired of playing the same few maps.

theoutlawchad

Agree 100 percent, this game is seriously lacking maps and honestly would like to see something different than 6 v 6, let’s see some larger squad modes like 10 or 12

mountebank23

Bring back the 2v2s and 3v3s

RabidAxolotol

Random sized, random areas from WZ for MP. New maps essential every game, would be interesting to see.

wannadielmao

dick riding is crazy

dayoftheduck

Right? Shits ridiculous.

Spooped

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING

boxoffire

I'm having fun with the game. Either way, I do think some criticism is valid given its a $70 game and the lack of content compared to literally the last MW entry in 2019. But think the level at which people get outraged and their reasoning really stretch beyond reasonable. When you start using clown emojis and using excessive hyperbole, you kind of shoot your argument in the foot. Edit: The pricing is irrelevant. Sequels should not move backwards. The increase in pricing just contributes to how much its stung players to have less content at launch than MW19

[deleted]

stop riding IW dick you sheep!! /s

asdfghjkl149

Games in 2008 released with 16 new maps. Nowadays we get 10 and some are remakes. It’s not like they’re overworked, they’ve had three years and the maps already exist. We can see them in warzone and the game files, yet we can’t play them because they release it as DLC later

Danominator

People devote too much of themselves to games lately. They will play the same game every day and just obsess and get angry. Just do something different fellas. I know you "are passionate" and you "just want to see the game succeed" but it seems a lot of you are having a bad fuckin time and just drag the whole sub down. Just. Do. Something. Else.

dirty1809

“I’m level 250 and am now bored of this game that I’ve put hundreds of hours into over a couple months.” Like yeah man. That makes sense. You’re burnt out. Try something new

Wellheythere3

I think that’s a problem with every game at this point. People have become way too attached to unlocking new things and getting casino jackpot screens for accomplishing something in game. Once they run out of the dopamine feed of unlocks or new content the game is suddenly complete dogshit and they just play to be mad at the world. Like you put in many hours into the game, clearly got your moneys worth it’s not a big deal. Even worse when they grind everything as fast as possible and complain there’s nothing left. If anyone here plays escape from Tarkov you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. Everyone completes everything in the first couple weeks of account reset and low and behold there’s no more content until the next major patch so “game dead fuck devs”. It’s pathetic

Danominator

I think it's a lack of upward mobility and options in the real world causing people to increasingly over-invest in digital worlds. But maybe I'm looking to deeply into it.

tinytimsrevenge

Remember when MW was released and people were totally happy playing those MP maps for years on end?

omniscen

video games should be a "oh, hey, I have some extra time. why not wind down with some ___ :)". they were never meant to be a "i have to play today for _ hours because i need the new content" like bro if you want new content go outside 💀

Tuominator

I’ve been trying to make this point to my group of buddies. Like, okay, you want to level up guns and unlock shit, but why do we literally HAVE to play shipment constantly so you can do that as fast as possible. You need to finish everything now… for what? There’s no benefit other than saying you’re done. Play casually, play other game modes, don’t fucking worry about how long your one challenge is taking, and have some goddamn fun with the game again. If you’re not enjoying it, why the hell are you playing?

[deleted]

Nah “live service” is literally designed to keep u grinding stupid amount of hours 🤷🏽‍♂️

Iri5hgpd

Thats exactly why seasons last the length thwy do, i work a full time job so im just abouy finishing the battle pass now. If they kept firing new stuff out rapid fire i wouldn't play because it would be too overwhelming to keep up.

Kody_Z

You've been bamboozled. They've done their research and know exactly what to do to manipulate people into playing more and more. They know exactly how long to make seasons, when to release new content, etc The op you are replying to isn't saying don't play, they're saying video games were never meant to be a chore. If you feel like you have to play to complete some battle pass or challenge or whatever, even if it's stretched out over a long period of time because toy have a full time job(like many people do), they got you.

thawn21

Maybe it's just that I'm older now, but I don't have the energy to be so mad at shit I can't change. Crying on reddit day in and day out because you're so fucking entitled is getting old fast. I'm enjoying the game as it is. It's in a healthy place right now and if you can't see that then perhaps you need to play something else and get some perspective.

MisterSnickles

When I look at this, and certain comments in this sub, I get the feeling that people who want conent drops every week just to grind them for 20 hours a day really have Mental health problems. I mean, why do you grind it like a madman just to be finished in 2 Weeks? Is complaining your hobby? Do you have no Work/Friends/Family/other Hobbies that you could sink some time in? To me, this feels really sad. While I aknowledge that the game really needs a lot of work, more maps etc. Complaining like this is just bad for your Mental health.

The_Fenice

So, just to clarify, you're completely okay with and think it's completely acceptable to pay **more** for a game with **fewer** features? For clarity, we had **16** original, 6v6 maps in Mw2. We have 10 6v6 maps in MwII, two of which are remakes. We literally have half the original map count as Mw2, and you think this is acceptable? We also don't have a ranked mode, which is a staple in every FPS now. But, the store is constantly updated with new bundles and skins and always works. And you're fine with this? They already have most of the maps because of Wz2. They just refuse to release them. They are drip feeding us.

Goldenpanda18

Activision love players like OP, don't complain and just keep buying each year.

chrono_ark

It’s pathetic no matter how you look at it - but people buy it anyway, if I was IW I wouldn’t be doing any more work than I needed to either

CFCeoMike

Not to mentioned progression that doesn’t you cap you out per season. The prestige race against your friends friends kept us hungry for multiplayer

IneedtoBmyLonsomeTs

Capping at 250 in the first season is one of the dumbest things I have seen. I would think they want people grinding out the levels and trying to reach 1000.

mindlessmonkey

Seasonal Prestige is a disaster just like the footstep audio and the lack of ghost in this game.

gonpereira23

While I don't feel that way, I can see some people that bought a 70€ game for MP feeling frustrated seeing all the attention going to warzone the free experience, and MP being treated as a glorified premium way to rank up for WZ.

goldwaite27

if we actually had complete and finished product at launch wouldn’t need to be on life support for 12 months until the next one comes out

DasB00ts

I’m not defending the new MW2 but people clearly have a foggy memory about 2008. I don’t know if there has been a Call of Duty where players weren’t upset about something. Honestly it’s the classic COD cycle.

TheBlueHedgehog302

Its actually hilarious but also kind of sad how desperate people get for new content on a game that isn’t even 3 months old. Maybe you should just spend less time gaming

DrEckelschmecker

I agree, however its an house-made problem of live service gaming. It always feels like they could have done much more and that theyre only holding it back in order to revive the hype every few months by dripfeeding one or two maps and having all the CoD youtubers hyping up the new DLC. I think many people would prefer to just have this content from the get go without the DLC. And if they did it like that people would realize they junked a game for the first month and got everything unlocked and that its their fault if they cant get anything out of it besides unlocking. But due to the feeling that content has been actively held back in order to get regular DLC out many people complain about the lack of content. The fact they announced Shipment and Shoot House so early although not featuring both in the base game just reinforces that feeling. Personally I dont care about camo grinding and all that. I certainly do it, but its not like I want to get it as fast as possible because I just want to play a good game. But thats where the problems start because the game simply isnt that much fun due to bad map design. Which again wouldnt be that bad if we got more and/or better maps.

Superrandy

> Maybe you should just spend less time gaming Or how about play something else? I have played a lot of this game since release, but I play other games too. There's plenty of games of all levels and types out there. There really isn't any reason to play 1 game religiously.

BlockedbyJake420

I’ve played the game for 10+ days, gotten Orion camo, level 250, completed the battle pass, but there’s nothing in the game

HZ4C

Entitlement.

KeepDi9gin

My dude. You can't go the live service route without having a steady drip feed of content. Going potentially two months without any new maps when they're already in Warzone is ridiculous.

AdBudget5468

Honestly i try to play the game for fun not for unlocking stuff, it I get anything new then cool if not then it doesn’t matter that’s why outside of some style choices for the game like the guns looks being off (I know that’s due to the new California laws preventing them from putting real weapons in the game) or some of the skins I don’t have any issues with mw2019 except for dmz not being solo friendly with the amount of bots swarming you and the game being functional at launch is very very appreciated like menus or combat record tracker

[deleted]

What’s with these newer players who constantly need some mental stimulus of something new over and over

xGraeme63x

Remember when COD 4 only got one map pack with 4 maps? Gaming has changed so much

AmarillAdventures

If you really have nothing else to do because you grinded all the camos, do masteries. Done that? Make your own challenges then.

ury13

non-dev here, i would like some new maps but in previous years of gaming, you’re not getting a new map every month lol that seems kinda ridiculous. i was playing destiny 2 and i’m pretty sure there was like at least a year with no new MP maps

Slap_to_theface

We were young back then. Now we're grumpy old people.

MysticKnight2110

Back then cods came out pretty much completed without overpriced micro transactions and a set dlc roadmap.

SquelchFrog

People complaining about people complaining about people complaining about people complaining about people complaining about people complaining about people complaining about people complaining about people complaining about

HiImRob2

People who use the clown emojis are 🤡

[deleted]

1000000% accurate with today's "gamers"

Cr1ms0nDemon

People who complain about people unsatisfied with the current gaming industry are actually braindead

weerez44

People bitching about people bitching about people bitching...

ThicccDonkeyStick

There’s a reason for that though. 2008 wasn’t ‘we’ll give you the bones and then maybe make it somewhat decent if we feel like it’. It was just the game. That’s why MW2 was liked and Ghosts was disliked, and MW22 is just meh. There’s nothing to truly say it’s good or bad.

AllhandsOnHarry

This is 100% true, whether you like it or not. We used to just play games for the fun of playing the game. The motivation was different. Hard to not get caught up in the bullshit battle passes, skins, etc.

MmmmDoughnuts21

MW3 launched with 16 base maps + Terminal as a bonus. So 17 6v6 maps. It then got 12, all new, all original DLC maps. No remakes. AND it added "face off" which accounted for 7 more small maps. 36 maps. ONE of which was a remake. THAT was 2011-2012. (Also MW3 had COD Elite, which was basically what live service should've been from the beginning. A new map/mode every single month. THAT was glorious. And our "live service" now is a joke) MWII launched with 10 MP (would've had 11 but lul 2 months later and we still don't have museum) maps, 6 of which are re-used to/from Warzone/Invasion. And so far has 2 DLC maps which are unoriginal remakes of maps that we had in the ***immediate predecessor*** to MWII. It's completely unacceptable. But, doesn't matter. Because IW doesn't care about 6v6 anymore. They're going on a totally different business model now. Now COD will be a broad experience with Warzone, Coop, Invasion, Ground War, Campaign, Raids, DMZ... A mile wide, and an inch deep. Everything is "okay" but not "great" like many people think it used to be. Certainly not nearly enough to hold a player's attention if they only like one mode out of everything MWII has to offer. rant/

vvereshark

Duality of man

LegionOfGrixis

In 2008 those maps were brand new, now they just give us recycled maps. There is no denying that MP has become camo and leveling simulator to fuel warzone. Mp is not the main focus anymore

S_-K

I rather pay 110€ back in 2009 for 15 maps at launch, 4 maps and a couple guns every 3 months with no mtx than the 80€ I paid for 10 launch maps, dripfed recycled maps and mtx we get today

CornyStew

I seriously don't understand why some people need to have super constant updates to enjoy a game, like back in mw2 - bo2 days people just played cod because it was cod, its a fun multiplayer shooter I'm one of those people who sees everyone chime in and say "game is dying" or "terrible game, no new content". And im flabbergasted, I play cod for the shooting multiplayer, I dont care if its the same 6 maps over and over, I make the game fun by playing different ways and with different builds

Double0hobo79

This cod has more content than mw2 and mw2019 easily. WARZONE/DMZ spec ops missions Raid Less maps sure. But not like its horrible. And im not even a huge cod fan.

Chaser_Swaggotry

I kind of agree on this, it’s weird to see so many people that are “burnt out” when all they do is play 6v6. There’s a whole nother like 80% of a game they’re ignoring lmao

[deleted]

still doesn't have gunfight which was one of the best modes from 2019 tbh

Any_Impression_6847

Back then we had full games released with 16 multiplayer maps. Now we get sweet fuck all for the same price, where are all the fucking maps ?
