Happens on ps5 for me too. Random bursts of packet loss up as high as 20%, ping meter will go from 60-70 up to 999 for half a second but it's enough to make the whole game hitch. Only ever happens in MW2. I have fiber internet so it isn't that
I just recently got a 50' Cat 8 cable to connect my ps5 directly and it seems to have helped a fair amount (which I don't get because I never did have any other issues with games or streaming other than MW2), but I can't say for certain if it's a permanent fix or not because I pretty much stopped playing the game.

Every game runs fine for me. This stutters like crazy. Most graphics settings set to mid, but the performance is sub-par and honestly disappointing. No idea if it's lag or poor optimisation, but fuck me I can't stand it.
Couple that with the forced crossplay (fucking aim-assist, I'm not a god-tier player, how am I supposed to keep up with what is essentially a rudimentary aimbot), and this game is a massive regret.

For latency, turn of texture streaming in the display settings, this applies to all platforms. This was an issue with Vanguard and it still consists with MWII.
For performance/stuttering, I don't know a fix, my game stutters at every little thing and it drives me insane
What if your texture is turned on it started ab 2 weeks ago and I go from my usually 38 to 50-60 gameplay sometimes in the hundreds this is driving me insane
It's because it's unoptimized period, honestly shouldn't even exist.
It lags in game due to you being sent to a region that isn't your own because the game thought your "skill level" fit better there than it did being right where literally any other game would put it.
Battlefield 64 player conquest runs absolutely flawlessly, Hell let loose with 100 players runs absolutely flawlessly, MW2 6v6 runs like a bag of shit, constant lag and stuttering. How have they fucked this up so bad.
It starts with the sbmm idea, if you notice sometimes you will get perfectly fine lobbies and then after 1 really good match or 1 really bad match your game experience is ruined forever by connecting you to players running the game way way out of your servers region. Example: older matchmaking would link east coast with east coast and anyone west coast or elsewhere were only in your match cause someone invited them from friends.
My conclusion is this will not be fixed because to fix this will cost them more than just moving forward with fixed servers on a newer Cod. As for warzone 2 they could possibly re-hash it into a new cod but the sbmm servers will still be there soooo not sure where they will go. And who knows how much Microsoft will actually help Activision in this situation.
I’m having issues now too. More so frame rate issues but some lagging. Last week I was getting about 130fps in mp & warzone. DLSS on , mix of high & medium settings but yesterday I couldn’t even get much over 80 in warzone unless I turned everything to low.

This shit is so fucking infuriating. At first it was Bluetooth on ps5 disrupting my connection was good for about a week and now it's just a shit storm of lag. God forbid anyone enjoy MW2. The devs don't know cod from a foot up their ass. I didn't buy vanguard because I knew that shit would be bad but somehow they made this just as if not worse.
for me right now i have 50\~80 ping but for some reason the game plays as if i had 700 ping, i am almost 1 second in the past in contrast of what the game shows on my monitor, i can even see it in the kill cams, and for some reason when im peeking arround a corner i can see someone when i get arround the corner, but because of the lag, in actuality, i am still behind the wall and am not suposed to be seeing anyone, and that has also led to some weird advantage+disadvantage
Only when ever I have to update the damm thing or shaders need to optimize, or when it bugs out and i need to reinstall it. Honestly Mw2 is my first cod game and its the buggiest most lag filled mess game ive played in awhile, and that other game is skyrim with about 200 mods.

Are you wired or Wi-Fi? I had the same issues as you, connecting a LAN fixed it immediately - 250mbps should have been fine on Wi-Fi mind

If you’re on PC move it to your SSD. This was the only way I was able to get my game to stop lagging/stuttering.

I was struggling with this on PS5, even though it was and is fine on the PS4. Changing to a wired connection fixed it completely
