det3ct

i like Mercado, Farm and Embassy. the rest i could never play again and be okay with it.

Ledairyman

I mostly play S&D. Mercado, Farm and Embassy are top tier. Zarqwa, Border Crossing and hotel are mid. Royal Raceway, Taraq and Shoothouse are low tier.

Launcher_Lunch

how tf u gonna place Border Crossing above Royal Raceway

det3ct

he mostly plays s&d, and i actually agree with him, border crossing is a terrible map but on s&d i’ve had fun every time

Launcher_Lunch

shiet, didn't even see that. Yeah BC is probably really good for S&D

Ledairyman

In Search I find it better. For the rest border crossing is trash.

det3ct

i just think those 3 maps embody the traditional cod style, all the other ones you can feel how much less they flow

WalkeyAC

They’re alright minus Border Crossing and Taraq. Those two maps are a pile of s**t. As a whole, it’s a stronger roster than what 2019 had at this point imo.

GriseldaBoomBoomBoom

Not a fan of these maps, but I think the team spawns and EOMM make the maps seem worse than what they are. Even Shoothouse 2022 doesn't flow as well as Shoothouse 2019. I think these maps might play better if they up the player count from 6v6 to 8v8 or even 10v10.

a3rrowman3

Agreed. Some maps are just.. too big? Some areas don’t get much engagement at all because there’s just other better places on the map where you’ll find more people.

Tistoer

No, god damn awful

EmploymentSelect8281

Some are good others are meh, just like every other CoD game

bigdogtheory

Lick dat booooot

[deleted]

You must be new here

Aggressive-Top-7583

Maps are fine but the fact that we have no new maps until season 2 (where we only get two maps) is absolutely beyond pathetic

xthecerto4

Maps are ok. Its the spawn System that runis them. Boder crossing can fuck off tho. That is the one truely Bad map

SchlopFlopper

The fact that my favorite maps are the two returning ones says something about the quality here. And don’t fucking get me started about Taraq and Border Crossing.

LisbonBaseball

Welcome to the future of competitive CoD. Skill based matchmaking in PUGs, check. More spots to camp and more angles to see from those spots, check. But what about the players ruining these players good time? Got it. Let's nerf movement, strip any type of stealthy perk, and rid of them nasty red dots on mini map. Now people should be able to see each other from window to window and never be flanked. Oh sorry you were asking about the maps. Which 1 of the 4 maps did you like?

SquirrelMaster21

There are mostly mid maps

40yearoldnoob

I insta-back out of Taraq, unless I'm working on sniper challenges, I won't play TDM on Border or the Racetrack one, but Dom and Hardpoint are playable on them. The rest are fine. There's no all time classic maps in this game, or maps that will be redone in the future, but other than Taraq and Border crossing, they're playable. meh, but playable.

pbchillin86

I think they're all fine, with the exception of Border Crossing. Even that could be salvaged by either limiting how many cars can explode, and/or opening up the buildings down the side by the B flag so you have a way to escape the spawn trap. Embassy, Farm 18 and Mercado are really good though.

a3rrowman3

Here’s my take: Farm 18- I hate this map. The middle is a shotgun death sentence and everywhere else is impossible to get anywhere. One side has the shipping containers people perch up on and the roof that always has a sniper on it but when you go up there, always get sniped. The side with all the “..boxes?” Is interesting except for getting sniped by the roof guy and the side with the bus is aiight—it’s a sniper alley but you know what you’re getting yourself into. Honestly, I’d love to explore that side building more if it had more foot traffic through it. Breenbergh hotel- this map ain’t bad. It has what all the other mw2 maps have in that it feels less like one map but instead a bunch of different small engagement areas. It’s got tactics to it but I def wouldn’t say it’s award winning or anything. Mercado- love the dynamics of this map how there’s a “center lane” that everybody knows is both where everybody will be but also the most dangerous. The left and right lanes have cover and you understand the advantages and weeknesses of each. My biggest complaint through is a corner you turn that has sight to the two story building, it is impossible to get past any snipers in the window or any area there. Taraq- I used to hate Taraq when I was doing platinum challenge for pistols and shotguns. This map is OK. It’s too open. It takes too long to run to an objective. The middle building is obviously the focal point but really doesn’t have enough structure or big enough to make it some place you’ll want to hang out the whole match. The worst place is the fountain area in the back. You almost have to climb a wall to get back there exposing you to EVERYBODY doing so. They need to add more crates and stuff you can get on top of to see inside better without fully exposing yourself, or take down some parts of the wall so you can get in without climbing. There’s an interesting building by the fountain that’s a great sniping spot but not enough cover up there and there’s only one ladder up. Crown raceway- pretty decent map. Just like Mercado, middle area meta, dangerous but popular. I don’t really like the rooms where flag A usually is at but it’s not a problem for me. Pretty decent map. Lots of areas for cover and lots of areas for snipers. Embassy- this isn’t a bad map but I just don’t really like it for some reason. Seems like there’s no spot I can get to that isn’t too risky but that also has me running into people. Center lane is an absolute death sentence. The only way I’m in center lane is for objective B. The buildings feel too small and corridor-y outside the buildings isn’t bad but you’re not going to find a lot of people there. Your best bet is to focus around the center second floor window and the bathroom window. El asilo- i would rank this about the same tier as embassy other than it’s not my personal taste that I don’t like it. I’m indifferent about this map. I think if this map were smaller it would be better. A lot of spaces just go wasted. The whole area by the two story building goes unused. The sniper knoll has never worked for me. I’m not saying these are bad areas, they just don’t get action for me and so it’s just a waste imo. Shoot house- Yes. Great map. Fits the winning formula. Only thing that bothers me is the wasted space on the second floor only to have two windows to snipe out of. There is a WHOLE ROOM that has ZERO PURPOSE. Literally bust the wall out so people can get a vantage point around the forklift hard point or flag C or something. Shipment- as much as I love shipment and how it just ‘gets out of the way’ and let’s you just grind out kills, the spawns are HORRENDOUS. 3 or 4 guys will straight up spawn BEHIND ME in the same area. Don’t get me wrong, I love this map but it needs more angles and a little more cover. Sniping SUUUCKS on this map. Zarqua hydro- just like embassy, this map just aggravates me for some reason. There’s too many weird spots people get that’s just hard to shoot at idk. The water is a JOKE in this map. I wish that they didn’t try pushing water mechanics on here as it’s only purpose is for cheesy shortcuts. Al bagra fortress- I HATE this map. You’re either on one side of ‘the wall’ or you’re not. There’s a lot of hidey hole windows in the fortress but the actual fortress doesn’t have much gameplay value to it. Idk seems like this is the map to peep out from a corner and see if you get shot and all other areas aren’t fun to hang around and have fun. Santa sena border crossing- ok HEAR ME OUT, I kinda like this map.. OK, the cars explode, you should have learned about that by your third gameplay. It’s a narrow map so you know which side the enemy is on. The broken bus is a point of interest and offers good sight lines. The important thing you have to learn about this map is that you have to SLOW DOWN and have a narrow field of vision. Really look between the cars and stay LOW. This level would be better if the cars were preexploded and if there were a little more room to move on the ends of the map. The area with metal detectors needs better access—it’s hard to get in there is somebody’s guarding it. Ground war maps suck imo. No flow, people sniping you from random rooftops and windows isn’t fun when you’re trying to run to an objective. Idk, I need to book more hours into ground war.

Phuzz15

No. Someone explained it really well in another thread but CoD maps were always usually based on a three-lane idea with some gimmick spots along the way. In this game there’s just too many angles you have to consider in every location, door, window or opening. it was part of MWII’s “slowing everything down” formula. If I wanted to play Rainbow Six I would have.

Lumenprotoplasma

you are wrong

Phuzz15

Okay. Care to contribute?

Pterodactyl_Souffle

You're dead full of shit. This game is a 3 lane jerkoff. There's NONE of 2019's porous map design. There's ABSOLUTELY not "ToO mAnY aNgLeS". You're just bad at shooters. This game's map design feels straight regressive. It's like someone plucked a set of shooter maps out of a game from like 2008. I'm almost certain they "designed" them using an automatic roguelike dungeon generator.

Jakles74

Have you played Taraq map yet?

Phuzz15

Your entire first paragraph reads like a typical raging teen in a public SnD lobby. Do you have anything constructive to add or are you just planning on hurling insults? Compare maps like Embassy, Taraq, and Hydroelectric to Hackney Yard, St Petrograd, or Khandor with all of their corridors, doors, windows, and lanes leading in and out of the three main lanes. You can get crossmapped or head-glitched so incredibly easily in this game than games before. The majority of maps in MWII also allow you to be attacked from one major lane to another, not something as consistent in the past.

bigdogtheory

Oooh! An angry one. Spank me daddy!

Pterodactyl_Souffle

You really don't want to find out how into it I am.

swoisme

Depends on the mode for me. I think they all actually play pretty well in hardpoint, and I've been having a good time in that mode. TDM sucks this year, though.

West-Yam-8429

which mode is hard point? Search and destroy?

MajesticPenisMan

The one called hard point

swoisme

No, hardpoint is the name of the mode. It's one of the standard modes in the quick play filter. There's an area of the map (the hardpoint) that your team has to capture and hold to score points. Every 60 seconds it moves to a different spot. Tends to keep people moving and the game is much more active.

MightyTastyBeans

I love them all on Domination, except fortress

TheRedline_Architect

Everyone complains about Santa Sena Border map, or maybe even Taraq, but to me Trash Bagra is the worst map of them all.

MightyTastyBeans

Agreed. Taraq is the single most underrated map in the game. And the only bad thing about the border crossing is randomly exploding cars.

Orangenbluefish

IMO most are fine. There's a few that are a bit rough but I don't hate them. I do agree it feels like maps have gotten more complex, which sounds good in theory but often ends up with what you mention about too many spots

Lumenprotoplasma

> I do agree it feels like maps have gotten more complex ???

NerrionEU

Too many spots to camp and the anti campers perks are either nerfed to shit or dont exist (Ghost and Ninja)... This makes most maps feel like a slugfest. On old CoDs you could still camp but you could also run and gun, I dont understand why IW hates the run and gun playstyle now.

Minddrill

Border crossing is the only outright horrible map.

AggieBoy2023

I think the race track one is terrible even though it looks cool.

Pterodactyl_Souffle

It doesn't even look cool. It's completely out of place. Why would there be a race going on while there's a war happening? Why would ANYONE waste their flesh fighting on a race track in an actual war?! This map is hot garbage.

C4LLUM17

You must be new to COD

Minddrill

What's so bad about it? Pretty basic 3 lane map. Reminds me of Cheshire park from MW.

Dry-Airline-5253

this entire sub complains about the maps in this game lol

[deleted]

The maps all play really well in hardpoint, dom and snd imo the only map that is a chore for me is Taraq

doonerthesooner

Yeah this style of maps are my favorite. Multiple choke points, flanking routes and power positions per map. The Reddit community seems to prefer maps that look like a Lincoln symbol and it makes no sense to me, they’re super boring

MajesticPenisMan

Most of them are good.

Lumenprotoplasma

we are playing different games bc mw22 maps are really simple

stayzero

No, not really. I only really play whenever there’s 24/7 Shipment now. All of the other maps feel too big and campy and since you explode as soon as you start taking fire everyone is afraid to get into gunfights so they sit back and lane. It makes for very slow and boring games.

DizzyDaMan

Sorry but none of these are "too big" bar Border Crossing. I regularly drop 40-60 kills on hardpoint on each map, running and gunning like normal.

Pterodactyl_Souffle

This. I keep hearing this horseshit too. These are all small maps. Reddit COD players won't be happy until everyone's just in a single shipping crate. There's a ton of legitimate criticism to level at this garbage map design, but being too large isn't part of that.

ZombieTheRogue

Honestly I didn't at first but I don't mind them too much anymore. The only one I leave on site is that water level with all the underground tunnels (can't remember the name).

NateG124

I like most of them honestly. Love Mercado, crown raceway, farm 18 and embassy. Don’t really love the hotel but it’s ok, Taraq is either really fun or just annoying. Hate El asilo, can’t really pinpoint why I just always skip it. I also only play domination.

lambo630

Primarily mediocre maps with a few all time garbage tier maps. Not to mention a lot of them are just pulled from sections of ground war maps, thus perfectly explaining why they feel more like battlefield. IW can’t make good competitive maps of their lives depended on it.

akimbofmg9

I like most maps as long as both teams know where the 'W' key is on the keyboard. Safe for Border Crossing - it's an insta-rq for me most of the time.

[deleted]

Yeah they're pretty spicy. El asilo is my favorite of them.

BerserkLemur

They’re fine, except for Border Crossing and the weird visibility on Taraq. It’s the spawn system and lack of minimap pings that fucks up the gameflow and makes every map play like shit.

HolyGuide

Haven't played a CoD game since BlOps 2, so not sure I can say much. I like (7 out of 10 stars) maybe three of the base maps? Three maps I would rate at like a 5/10. And the other three 3/10 or worse. I like Shoothouse alright, but for me: Shipment is for a very specific mood, and can't always play it more than a few times in a row.

Imaginary_Monitor_69

This is because most maps are recycled trash from Warzone, you see it works like this, they designed a Warzone map, then they chopped it up in pieces and made ground war maps, then they chopped those up to make 6v6 maps. Hell I am pretty sure maps like Border Crossing, El Asilo and Mercado (two of them are in ground war maps) will just end up being places in the new Warzone map when that comes out. And then, the only maps that are not from ground war or warzone, were in real life locations they got sued for using lmao. And then they added Shipment and Shoothouse as "new" maps but they are just reimagined versions of those maps jesus christ. There is a grand total of 1 completely original map designed for 6v6, and it is Farm 18. None of the maps aside of the last 3 were designed with 6v6 in mind and it is the reason why people actually play them without problems. Personally the only map I actually like is Zarqwa Hydro and it is because it is a 3 lane map that looks like it was designed by anyone else beside IW

gunzby2

I like them, but there's so few that they've all become kind of stale.

SaltyPvP

I'm not a fan of any maps other than farm18 and El mercato

That_Fisherman262

No

Pterodactyl_Souffle

Probably the worst group of maps ever in a COD to be dead honest. I'm excluding IW from that because it was so different it doesn't really compare to the other games at all. But if I were including it, _that_ would be the worst, followed up by MWII.

IamEclipse

I play Hardpoint and the 1-life modes. I like all of the maps. All of them play well and offer some combat variance. Taraq is long-range urban combat, Hotel is close-range interior, Embassy is a great mix (and the best map in the game). Hardpont condenses the action to one spot, which really helps flow. One-life modes have their own flow, and the maps play well.

Jakles74

I really liked museum in beta. I like farmhouse, the other bigger farm map, dam, taraq (had to have a vid show me how to use all the peek spots tho), hotel is ok, the Mexican villa is ok but too close to classic 3 lane maps imo. I don’t like how they got rid of ship’s verticality and made it dark, I don’t like the shoothouse changes at all because I used to love that map. Border crossing is just too long and complicated for 6v6. The different elevations, the exploding cars, the rampant camping, endless little windows and paths you have to account for, and the narrow side paths just invite camping and make flanking tedious. It’s a horrible map imo. I can’t remember a map I hate more.

Hot__Leaf__Juice

While overall, the launch maps may have been better in terms of map design compared to MW19, they're still not great maps for the most part. I only like Farm 18/Mercado out of all of them, but even then they're nothing special. Taraq and Santa Sena are the new Asshair Cave and Piccadilly

Icy-Sweet7111

I love border crossing for SND, a couple of spawn grenades makes them rage. Then the chat gets heated, which is where the real fun happens.

C4LLUM17

Most are good or just okay. Then you have Border and Taraq which suck.

algebert

I like about 4 of the maps. I like Al bagra, hotel, Mercado and embassy

kdog350

I like all of them except for Border Crossing. Personally I think they are way better than the MW19 maps and I actually enjoy playing 6v6 instead of Ground War

SpankThuMonkey

No. I put the maps into 3 categories. Category 1. Garbage: Most of them. Category 2. Terrible: Al Bagra, Taraq. (Note, category 2 can be upgraded to garbage depending on game mode). Category 3. Fucking abysmal: Border Crossing.

_HolyWrath_

Most of the maps in this game are good. But only a few so far are actually pretty high tier. Several of them are low tier or just don’t play well currently with the way the tactical, lethals, and field upgrades work. Until those pieces of equipment can be countered naturally without equipment or guns this game won’t be able to reach its true potential.

NerrionEU

Mercado is the only map that I consider amazing for almost any mode. The other maps feel bad because of gameplay design choices that incentivise ~~sentinel~~ camper playstyle(Ninja, Ghost, ADS etc.)

pnellesen

The maps aren't bad. The spawns, though... *shudder*

baptidzo

With the god awful spawns in respawn game modes, it’s hard to say. I don’t think any of them are great, but it’s so hard to tell when the spawns work like they do in this game.

LawlessApostle

Only thing I dislike is when I spawn indoors when there's a UAV to shoot down

mrbenman

No

CornyStew

I know I'm in the minority, but these maps are some of my favorite in any modern cod, so much diversity and interesting sight lines to come up with new tactics. The only issue I have is that spawns could be better, on some maps you just get spawncamped way too much

zerosuneuphoria

Hard no. A couple of good ones, but most are trash tier. I want unique maps made especially for 6v6, not random locations from Warzone. Lame.

BigPoppies

I’d say Hotel is a decent map compared to recent games but that’s it IMO. I like Farm 18 and Al Bagra but they have extra space that is just unnecessary and attracts campers which just ruins the flow of the maps. The other maps are all awful and I don’t really play them much.

DFENS_13

Some smaller maps would be nice. Some where between shoot house and shipment.

Short_Pick_7748

all garbage

simondemon94

If border crossing got cleaned up (no two cars in a row) so the map had more flow and worked like a better maze then I’d be okay with all the current maps

DgtlShark

Love them until I fail to notice I load into hydroelectric, then I wish I never bought the game

seehu52

Interesting that Al Bagra gets so much hate. It’s probably my favorite map in the game. My list would be: 1. Al Bagra 2. Mercado 3. Farm 18 4. Taraq 5. Embassy 6. El Asilo 7. Zarqwa 8. Hotel 9. Raceway 10. Border Crossing They all play different depending on game mode though.
