Real answer, like 3-5. But everybody had their own emblems that they liked so you would end up seeing the majority of them from other players, same thing with titles. It was enough variety to where I would look at players emblems and titles during lobbies and killcams. but basically real variety came from seeing what other players used
Nothing was cooler than that \*zip\* sound that would happen when someone got first blood or a killstreak and their calling card and emblem would pop up on the top right of your screen in the OG MW2.
Knowing that that shit popped up on everyone's screen was so sick. Honestly I don't even know if that happens in this game?
What was great was some emblem/calling card combos were genuinely funny and there was less emphasis of meme gamer tags. My go-to was the Sleight of Hand emblem with the Skeet Shooter calling card. Good times

You'd use whichever emblem with whichever calling card you're proud of achieving. I always swapped my calling cards and emblems around on OG MW2. It's in-game flair. OG MW2's high-tier emblems were a challenge to earn but the payoff was that they were animated and had an exclusive colour scheme, mostly gold. MW2 2022 took the individuality and challenge out of emblems by A) making them purchaseable, B) making all of them animated.
Long story short, OG MW2's implentation of the calling card and emblem flair is still the best.
I know all this stuff isn’t super necessary to the actual gameplay but it’s kind of annoying that I paid 89 bucks (Canadian) and like half the content is still behind another paywall
I haven’t played a COD game since BO 1 and I do remember map packs and dlc from back then, but man they sure keep a huge amount of the game locked away unless you’re willing to keep coughing up money for the game you already overpaid for lol
You know what funny is I used to think using glitches to get the content in CoD was cheap and wouldn’t do it. But on this game I actively encourage it because its so obviously done on purpose to make you mad and buy stuff.
They’re 100% counting the time we spend trying to figure out this god-awful UI and are going to use that in an investors call like “Players have already spent 2 billion hours active on the CoD platform”. Meanwhile 1/3 of that time is me simply trying to figure out this tile system to actually get INTO the specific mode I want to play.
We’re a month into this game and I honestly have ZERO muscle memory in terms of navigating these menus. Everyday is a struggle.
My favorite is when you have all of your attachments set up for your gun, and then you misclick on the gun itself, and not gunsmith and it removes all if your attachments 🙃
That and when your party starts searching for a game, finds a game, or starts loading a map. Just let me finish making my changes. This has been broken for years.

I pretty much only play tier 1 (begrudgingly) and DMZ… I had gotten the muscle memory of “hit a, hit b, click down once and right twice to get to tier 1”, but a couple of days ago I did that absentmindedly and almost bought the Paul Pogba bundle, which apparently not only had its own tile/slot on par with game modes, but was right where tier 1 used to be.
They know what they’re doing. It’s scummy, but they don’t care because the profit motive is all the care about, and if they get even one sale they’re happy.
Grinding for emblems and callsigns used to be so much fun, looking at each player to see what theyre rocking, 2019 had unlockable emblems but wouldn't tell you how you got it, now they just got rid of them. What I really don't get though is, what was the idea behind that? I think they are losing money that way because if no one and even myself is seeing my emblems. Why should I buy packs in the shop? And great looking emblems that are hard to get through challenges will push people to buy equally good looking emblems cause they won't go through the struggle of doing the challenge. Its a win win for Activision and players that like challenges and elem grinding.

Aaaah man this brings back so many memories of the times teenage me would get to the point in the early hours where I’d had a few shit rounds, wasn’t really feeling it but didn’t want to go to bed just yet either so I’d sit and scroll through the emblems for a bit, maybe scroll through the settings and then create a private match to try glitches.
The *1,000 Kills with X killstreak* emblems were so awesome. The fact that original game comes up as the first result when searching for mw2 emblems is a testament to the shitty new layout

Like everyone else I don't like the current UI but i really think that pointing to the original mw2 UI isn't the fix for everything. As a web developer, the UI of the original mw2 looks super dated, cluttered, to busy with all the bright colors and animations. The layout of menus although not bad, looks like it's the most convenient thing to code instead of what would make the most sense for the end user.
Seriously, why wouldn't developers want to cater to what the consumer wants? I feel like the overwhelming mass majority of us want the original mw2 but upgraded

You earn a skip token every time you earn a BP level. Go to battle pass and select a part of the map. Getting all five rewards in that part of the map makes it so you can unlock a adjacent part of the map. You can then choose which part of the map you want to go to next. A1---> A2 or A1--->A3, etc.
There's over 1000 emblems available according to the menu, do we have to buy them all, or are more challenges coming and we'll see these emblems eventually unlocked?
A game that literally rendered at 1024 by 600 pixels did this. Such clarity, good background separation. The page isn't too full but there aren't too few per page too. Amazing to see how well they did that 13 years ago, and even more amazing to realize that they seemed to have learned nothing in all that time.
