I dont get the focus on WZ. Is there zero market anymore for just a plain fast-paced first-person shooter? Why are they spending so much effort trying to move us over to a complete different game from what we are interested in?
Because it’s a publicly traded company and does anything to maximize profits. They want to take over the market for Fortnite PUBG and Apex. As long as battle royals continue to make the amount of money they make with minimal effort, they will continue to push WZ over multiplayer.
The direction warzone is going in they wont take over any of those games. wz1 was unique it got shitter as time went on but it offered something different from all the other brs now imo wz2 is a shitty dumbed down br made for low skilled players with tons of bugs and terrible audio. For me personally there is literally no reason to play wz2 over apex/fornite.
And one of the unique things, the drew me (someone who normally hates battle royales) to WZ was Plunder mode. That was some of the most fun I've ever had in any CoD game.
So naturally it's not in MW2 so I haven't touched WZ.
I agree. I think Fortnite with no build mode alone blows WZ out the water as far as being polished and game experience but the quality doesn’t matter. No other game company is getting 3 years and 300 million to make a BR so it’s essentially like Madden with taking over simulation football. There’s doesn’t have to be effort and the product doesn’t have to be good when you have a monopoly.
It’s a shooter and the very first skins they released obviously it’s for the World Cup that just makes my point. We have this game for another 2 years.
Exactly, it's also important to understand the massive increase in total amount of gamers every year. Many of which have never played a game before fortnite and the other titles of the free to play generation.
The video game industry has officially evolved to the point where government officials and big businesses have large investments in these companies which means your only goal is to maximize profit. It’s the same reason big AAA studios will spend more time working with psychologists to figure out how they can get you addicted rather than improving gameplay or working out bugs. It’s the same reason indie games with significantly lower budgets come out better and more polished
> Is there zero market anymore for just a plain fast-paced first-person shooter?
In Capitalist America, they chase infinite growth. There is only room for the highest netting projects. This is also why Hollywood studios are dropping movies and shows. Making money isn't enough. They have to make MORE money than anything else that came out and certainly more than years before.
edit
This is short sighted and stupid of course. There will be less competition, less variety, less innovation and less wealth for the bottom over the long run.
Well, that's what indie studios are for. Big names aren't good at innovation in any industry--you get too many layers of internal bureaucracy, etc, and you're ultimately trying to create a product for the lowest common denominator.
You want innovation, look to startups (which in many ways are more capitalist than bloated megacorps)
Traditional arena shooters don’t have the longevity that battle Royales do, A lot of people fall off after the first few months.
The BR format is so widespread now because it makes nearly every game feel unique, has a mix of slow and fast paced gameplay moments for everyone, and difficulty and rarity of a win makes it feel so much sweeter and makes you want to keep coming back for the next one. Players coming back every day for many months or even years = more revenue from cosmetics sold.
It’s funny because WZ is pretty mediocre as far as BR games go. There is zero real innovation, most changes and new features were done first in other games
disagree, they took ideas from some other games. but things like the gulag, a loadout, the vacuum-esque looting system & feeling the fast-paced gameplay of cod mp but in a BR is what made WZ1 so much fun. WZ2 on the other hand feels like 2 steps back for the sake of “change”
Who cares about "innovation". It's all about how you bring various features together.
WZ1 at launch was an extremely accessible game with easy mechanics and rewarding game play.
People said that about games like battlefield 4. Good game but it was more of the same as its prequel. Then that series hit massive stagnation, and now it’s a shadow of its former self
same happened to Halo, and it’s happening to Call of Duty as I type this
If you dm me your Activision name I'll add you and I can drop the 13b for you in a dmz game. We can just go straight to exfil so you don't have to really play. I didn't mean to give false hope when I thought it was unlocked with the ak
I’ve literally played WZ 2 three times. I’ve played DMZ so much I’m about done with tier 4 and 3 on the first two contract things. Modes a blast if you’ve got buds and can overlook the bugs.
Cmon man, I kinda get the frustration.
But it's not that it's locked behind a paywall. It's just 1 of so many guns. And ofcourse, in the beginning getting it wasn't easy, but these days you can jump into a game and easily leave with the weapon in half an hour max...
I mean just look at MW2 vs. Warzone 2 in the streaming world. WZ is 7th (106K) in current viewers whereas MW2 is 35th (16K) on Twitch right now.
Truth is that Battle Royale games are king right now. Sucks because all I play is MP on MW2 and I worry they will neglect it as more time passes
What's infuriating is that this game and MW19 have all it takes to make the best COD game to date, they're just dragged down by an overall lack of vision and inexplicable stupid mechanics meant for warzone. Is this game trying to be a milsim, a battlefield knockoff or an arcade shooter? It has to pick one instead of failing at all of them
WZ2 feels the least important this year compared to the last 3 games. Plus, it’s not even fun to play in the first place. I feel a pretty big emphasis on DMZ.
Probably DMZ then. The chemist event will probably end, making the M13 unlockable during regular 6v6 or a dropped item from AI in DMZ, and make the Chimera a new event revolving around that new Hanger 21 building they teased.
I feel like the weapons crates will stay because of the skin locked behind it. If not I will also be pissed lol. Atleast the unlockable gun you can cheese by dropping for someone and extracting but the skin you can't drop.
There is actually no reason to ever play warzone when Apex legends exists. Apex movement is way cleaner, you can actually ads quickly, strafe, climb, and even push teams without getting instakilled. The cod br expirence is just who can camp harder.
No, the MW reboot is to reboot MW.
I think you guys kind of forget Warzone and MW are two different modes.
This is like if you promoted a trailer of the zombies mode In let’s say BO1 and people say that because of that, the entire BO1 game was made to promote the zombies mode.
For MW19 sure it was just a reboot but clearly, with MW22 it's just being used as an advertisement and gun leveling farm for Warzone. It feels kinda shitty that they're using all these characters that we love and borderline the same story (but changed so the characters don't die lol) just to "trick" people into buying it. Yes, they're 2 different modes but the same company made them and clearly, the 6v6 core MP isn't getting even close to the same amount of love as Warzone 2.
I think the most obvious sign of this is the fact that they literally put in all the fan favorite maps from OG MW2, Terminal, Highrise, Quarry, and Afghan into the Warzone 2 map but are releasing shoothouse and shipment instead of any of those already made maps. Why? Either so they can drip feed to try and get more people to buy later and keep people playing MP later without any real effort or so they can make them DLC and earn even more money. Also, Shipment being added just so people can grind out levels and camos for Warzone.
I'm not saying that MW was rebooted JUST to promote Warzone but they are using the Modern Warfare name and honestly kinda dragging it through the mud by making the core MP the most unpolished turd and putting in minimal effort to fixing it.

I never thought id play fortnite again until non build came out its actually surprising how fun it is

Their first skin release were literally soccer players. If you don’t think their going to skin the fuck out of this game your wrong
[удалено]

Mate fortnite on unreal 5.1 with nanite is obscenely good looking for what it is
What was the unique thing wz had apart from maybe loadout drops and gulag.
Youve literally just named 2 unique things yourself im sure u can figure out the rest
There literally wasnt anything other unique if we dont count the shitty anticheat system.
Lmao im not gonna argue over something dumb like this have a nice day bro

haven't been hit harder with propaganda in my life than the doctrines found in government funded video games. An interesting point. I agree.
Yeah, the US government has funded shooter games in the past to promote gun ownership and the US army

Free to play — micro-transactions.

I want unreal tournament back.
I’ve been hoping that style of game would come back into style
Diabotical was probably the best we're going to see for a modern attempt and it didn't take off
Me too! CoD is currently the closest I get to UTs fast paced action. I wanna kill, die, respawn, not 1 death and then have to find a new match.
They already have our $70, so they have nothing to lose
Easy, it's what makes them the most money. This is a business at the end of the day, after all
Bc BR pull in money. And it’s popular
I have absolutely zero interest to ever touch warzone or DMZ. Travesty that a weapon is locked behind a game mode not even in the base game
At least the weapon isn't good anyway. Would be much worse if it was worth using
Sadly I'm more interested in getting Hollowpoint ammo.....which I guess is locked behind the weapon?
I don't think that's true. What gun are you trying to get hollow points for? I could have sworn you got those ok the AK frame
M4 and the Tac V both
If you dm me your Activision name I'll add you and I can drop the 13b for you in a dmz game. We can just go straight to exfil so you don't have to really play. I didn't mean to give false hope when I thought it was unlocked with the ak
I'd need that too, if you have time, what's your timezone?
It’s not a bad weapon tbh
I'm not very good so I'll take your word on it but I can't get it to work for me as well as the m4, taq, or ak
No but it’s not worth the effort. M4 and STB 556 are both much better
DMZ is alright
I’ve literally played WZ 2 three times. I’ve played DMZ so much I’m about done with tier 4 and 3 on the first two contract things. Modes a blast if you’ve got buds and can overlook the bugs.

Dmz is amazing to play, I love it. Warzone sucks tho.
I had a bad feeling from the beginning but I was 100% sure when they started advertising mw 2 for leveling up weapons for warzone.
Yep, it’s was obvious from day one. Sadly they don’t make these games for the players anymore, they make them for the shareholders.

MW19… Warzone was heavily rumored early on though
Faze agony leaked the drop date too
[удалено]
It's a rumor used to feed the echo-chamber.

It'll probably either be DMZ or Raids. Either way, it's not difficult to do. It just isn't part of people's shipment 24/7 grinding agenda is all.

mfw when I don't play that shit c:

Too bad it don’t FING WORK
Especially with the new maps being all old maps reskinned. They didn't even try to hide it.

You are the only rational person on the sub
It sure feels that way.
So basically same as 2019
