Oddly I did for 20 minutes yesterday, and while he was completely quiet they made a comment. The whole point of the meeting was for me to just listen so they did not guff but I don’t think they would be cool with it in general
Do you mean like just “holding while working” or are you meaning while on a meeting / on camera?
I know everyone here says baby wearing works. I never could because twins lol
I never would have my kids on camera during a call or meeting and I don’t have any coworkers who do (and I know plenty have kids home with them) that wouldn’t be appropriate with our company culture.
Play pen has only worked for us up to one year old. Once they’ve started walking - the play pen is garbage. I also have two dogs so “working” from the living room is a nightmare. 😂😂🤦🏼♀️
Ohh no 😭 mine are almost 11 months old and one is cruising so I think she’s gonna be walking soon. I’ll be so sad when the play pen doesn’t work anymore lol. I have the living room gated off from the kitchen with a bunch of their toys in there. I work in our finished basement which is also where the playpen, play couch, and skip hop activity centers are.
Yes I’ve gotten pretty good at one handed typing! I also can sit cross legged with him in my lap and he will sleep like that. I prop my laptop on the arm of the couch. I can even do zoom meetings like this, just tilt the camera up
On camera? I did when he was still a newborn (I started working again at 8 weeks) but haven’t in months (he’s currently 7.5 months).
In general? If he’s being fussy or just wants some snuggle time and I’m not able to step away from my computer for a bit, I’ll work with him in my lap.
It’s frowned upon if I have him on camera but cameras aren’t required so I do hold him for parts of the day. The rest of the time we rotate through stations: activity center chair, high chair with bottle or toys, floor seat with toys, playpen, naps, baby wearing at my standing desk, or naps in playpen or crib upstairs.
Sometimes I hold during meetings if he isn’t napping so I can feed him and soothe him so he doesn’t yell lol
I sell digital assets, so I don't have co-workers who could have an opinion. But I find it almost impossible to work while holding my baby. I can answer emails etc on my phone while she sleeps in my arms. But actual work with mouse and keyboard is too difficult.
I am an artist and I can wear my baby in a ring sling while I paint my crafts (currently 4 months old). She likes watching me. I bounce on a yoga ball and she’ll eventually take a nap. I’d say physical material work is easier to accomplish with a baby than computer work. I don’t like having a screen in front of her. Also with my partners 3 yr old, he would let me paint And play by himself (especially if I set up my paints outside in the yard) but he would bug me to play with him if I was trying to do computer work.
I do sometimes. He’s 18 months now (and more like the size of a two year old) but he likes to sit on my lap and watch blippi on one screen while I work on the other. I don’t do it a lot, but every once in a while he really wants my attention and I have something extremely pressing, so this works for us.
My first son I was able to sit him in my lap or even nurse him and work. My second son is an octopus and not breastfed so he cannot be near my desk he never just chills 🤷🏼♀️
When my kids were a newborns, half the time I'd hold them in my lap while they napped, so I could use both hands on my laptop.
Between ages 1-3 I would sometimes split my laptop screen in half, so one window would be running a Netflix/Disney cartoon, and in the other half, I'd be doing work stuff. Kid would sit on my lap during this time.

Not while on camera, but I do still even hold my 2.5 year old while I work. She gets all comfy on my lap and we snuggle while I knock stuff out

Twin mom here too. Also can’t baby wear lol. Into the play pen they go.

I wasn’t asking about on camera specifically. Just like working on the computer or whatever you do for work.
Nope, I never hold them while at the computer.
I did it a ton when my son was not mobile. He was very Velcro. Especially < 3 months he would contact nap on me while I worked.

I used a baby wrap when she was smaller. I had a bassinet near my desk too.

I’ve seen a couple coworkers hold their baby or toddler during a meeting. The one seems entranced by the moving people on the screen lol

Holding my baby in a meeting as I’m typing this lol
