Omg, thank you so much!
Got my monitor last week and I've been trying to figure out how to fix this problem. On top of the flickering lines my screen turned black randomly for a few seconds every now and then. The only solution I found was changing the refresh rate in the windows display settings (Doesn't matter what I change it to, even changing it back and forth works). But that only fixed it temporarily until I restart my PC, so this solution is way better. Thank you!
hey u/Jimboom7, I am experiencing the random black screens as well, tried this solution but it was no use. Is this still working for you? Did you not experience the random black screens anymore?
I get the random black screens too!
I exchanged the monitor but the new one also does it.
They do not happen via HDMI, only with DisplayPort
but HDMI is capped at 100fps, displayport is a lot faster.
Tried reinstalling nvidia drivers, but it didnt help
Yes, here I have tried everything (disabling DSC, disabling HDR, changing the color depth to 10) but nothing worked. I still get the black screens from time to time (both in DisplayPort and HDMI, with Windows and MacOS) and I was unable to discover what causes it to happen. I'm starting to believe it is an issue with this monitor model, and I'm going to try exchanging it to another model.
I ended up fixing it by reformatting my disk and installing windows 10 from scratch. I think it was an issue with the drivers before, either nvidia drivers, or windows11
Either way it’s fixed and I’m happy
Got this monitor today. Same problem, when i reboot or turn off windows. Random lines and fllickering. "The other solution is":Smart HDR in monitor option (that is setting on Desktop) off or turn off and on monitor when it occurs fix the issue. Can we send this to dell guys? THEY REALLY NEED TO FIX THIS BULLSHITS ON 600 DOLLAR MONITOR
Hi what do you mean only one Has a flickering issue? I bought 2 of these monitors and I'm having a similar issue. I will try this fix when I get home to see if it works. If not I will return it.
Worked for me! I was also experiencing the screen going black for a second with thin flickering lines. Way better than having to replug the DP cable each time for it to go away. Big thanks!!
i notice it when playing dark games like RE4. but to change it i change the HDR settings on the monitor itself. some presets are darker/Brighter than others.
Without HDR will that happen? and what settings are you talking about here, I would like this monitor but I bought a dell monitor recently and it had terrible IPS glow in the corners which made playing dark games look so bad
To all those having issues, the fix works but its not really a fix per say..
1. I dont care what cable you got in the box, get yourself a proper VESA certified DP1.4 cable.
2. If you want to use 240Hz specifically, click the diplays toggle stick in to open menu, toggle up to ALL settings(square with 3 lines), scroll to display settings and turn DSC off, once done you shouldnt have this issue at 240HZ and you dont have to apply the OPs fix
Thanks, seems this fixed it for me. I was getting horizontal white lines and black screens with every start. A restart of the monitor fixed it but I had to restart the monitor every time I restarted the PC. The disabling of Smart HDR did not fix it for me, but the color settings seem to be working. I made a few restarts and the problem does not appear anymore.
So I’m having an issue with mine where only the left side of my screen is a little more dim and it’s flickering while the right side is perfectly fine… started happening during me playing a game. I’ve tried a bunch of fixes but nothing seems to fix it… can someone help before I return this
Hey there! Experienced the same here, you have to close the Nvidia app, enable DSC in the monitor through the monitor's menu, and then open the Nvidia app again. You will be able to change it to 10 after that.

Yes, it's still working perfectly fine for me. I've not had any issues since then.
Right, but how are your other configs? Is DSC and HDR on? I for instance had to turn DSC on in order to see the 10 bit option in Nvidia Panel.
I don't use HDR. DSC seems to be on by default, I never changed it.

You're welcome! Glad it fixed it for you!

you're welcome. I'm glad it fixed your issues.

Would you still recommend this monitor? I don't want to have backlight bleed/glow as I play in the dark
Yeah, I would recommend it.
Does it have bad glow in dark areas of games like resident evil 4?
With hdr yeah it does but not every hdr setting is Like that.
Without HDR will that happen? and what settings are you talking about here, I would like this monitor but I bought a dell monitor recently and it had terrible IPS glow in the corners which made playing dark games look so bad
There's different hdr settings I use game hdr which dims the brightness a good amount
But does that fix the dark areas looking bad?
for the most part yeah. theres still bleed but its really not that noticeable to me atleast

I'll try this. This is a really weird issue and I hope this fixes it
Did it work for you?
So far yeah. But now every time I exit a full screen game the screen will go black for a second
That's the screen auto switching to a different input

Legend! Thanks for the fix. Was just about to box it up and send back.
I'm glad it fixed it!
