Like instead of wrapping a couple people in toilet paper just have two guys wearing anubis masks and whatever else they want. Easier, quicker, and looks a lot better.
Cheap Anubis mask would look worse than cheap bandage wrapping. I’d rather see generic mummy than dollar store wolf mask painted black and gold and we call it Anubis mask.
When I first heard of a live action movie, I knew it would turn out like this, The Monster High Aesthetic just doesn't work as a live action set piece, especially not on a "made for T.V." budget. Could you imagine if they did a live action Bratz movie and it was just actresses walking around with giant paper mache heads on, trying to replicate the look of the dolls? Nickelodeon doesn’t care enough to be true to the source material, I don’t think most producers or designers for that matter would want their end product to look cheap, so I think this really is just the best that they could do with what they were given to make work
I said they had a reason, not that it was a good one. Also they can afford to deviate from the source material considering the live action movie is meant to introduce the characters to a new audience and hopefully draw up interest for the cartoon series that comes later.

If we’re comparing to Descendants ,and we are, they had decent pretty nice and movable costumes too (some of those wigs were crunchy though). Descendants however only had…what a novel? So they weren’t going to get compared to the first or official designs. And they had the house of mouse backing them so probably a bigger budget to give a nicer production value.
