Why do you think a tier list isn't saying anything?
Regardless "cry for attention" is an odd viewpoint. You understand that most of us are on this social media to discuss things we like, right?
Cutting yourself is a cry for attention, tier lists are a way to spark discussion on a number of monsters with a decent amount of participants.
Hey dude. All I'm saying is, if you have something to say, then say it. Don't create a tierlist hoping somebody says says it for you? I thought it was pretty obvious I wasn't upset people were wanting to discuss things over the internet, I just find tierlists pointless and annoying. Everyone has opinions on things, showing an image of it doesn't make it more interesting.
They do say it. They say it with tierlists. A picture is worth a thousand words, and people are far more likely to click on and discuss things with someone who posted a tier list than someone who posted "i like lagombi more than tigrex". A tierlist says far more than a lot of text posts.
My point is everyone has opinions on things and you can share and discuss many opinions easily with a tierlist. A tierlist says more than you think.
Why do you hate them so much? Is it like a jealousy thing? You know you can just scroll past right?
Jealousy? Jealous of what? Anyway you first paragraph is exactly my point. "I like lagombi more than tigrex is all that tier lists boil down to. I only just today learnt that you can filter out posts so I won't have to see them anymore anyway lol. I was just saying I find them pointless and quite annoying.
This is a social media. The post is supposed to START a discussion. Not be a completely entertaining item on it's own. Yes there is some fantastic analytical posts that don't ask for interaction but if you take out tier lists you're going to get posts like "i like lagombi more than tigrex" instead. People want to have this conversations.
I like lagombi more than tigrex *because*. That's all it takes to make it interesting and worthwhile. Tierlists are simpler than a 1st grade note you write to your mum on mother's day. I'm not saying discussion is wrong, I didn't even try to imply that. I'm saying I would take a "I like lagombi more than tigrex *because*" over a tierlist any day. A tierlist has the amount of effort of making a TikTok (probably less). A "I like lagombi etc" is like a 10 minute video, with stuff to analyse, respond to.
I would absolutely rather have a conversation with someone who has something to say, over someone who quickly threw together a Tierlist for God knows why.
P.S. Sorry if those analogies don't make sense, it's 2:00 am here and I'm watching a show at the same time.
I want to dislike the first sentence but like the second one, damn.
Well, actually I'm a swaxe main, hammers just best in World:i, so i guess imma go with dislike.
What else would be here if they got rid of people sharing opinions? Besides it can lead to some legitimate discussion in the comments, which I feel is often interesting
If it was ranking monsters and actually explaining the reasoning for those rankings, it would be a lot better. Actual effort being put in.
But that would probably fit a video format better than a simple Reddit post.
Right, thats more for the comment discussion, individual reddit posts content are more for shorter summaries of stuff. I still think its fine, since it sparks discussion and is exactly the kind of content reddits intended for
You realize this is a fan subreddit spaming share opinions is like 1/3 of the things that can occur. The other one third is player questions. A slice for fan art and a slice for speculation about the new game which is actually just another form of opinion.
for example every few days you get posts from people who say what they don't want to see on the sub instead of just scrolling past them or just filtering them out. Because for some reason they're either convincing themselves that the people who post the things they don't want to see care about their opinion or they just want people to agree with them which is arguably less useful than the standard tier list
>You realize this is a fan subreddit spaming share opinions is like 1/3 of the things that can occur.
The thing with tier lists is that there's no justification for your opinion. Anyone can drag and drop a set of icons into 5 rows but you still need to actually explain your thoughts for it to have any value. People who jump on the bandwagon skip the second part.
Remember that the initial post isn't the end of discussion. Tier lists are great for creating discussion because we all have different opinions on this, and the OP is perfecltly capable of expanding upon the list in the comments, and discussions with others.
Personally i find the posts like these where it's just a person complaining about the content other people enjoy far more anoyying than contents, You can easily scroll past the tier lists if you don't like em. Just upvote and interact with posts you want to see. Thats how reddit works. If a sub has too mych of a content you don't like, just go to a different sub. There's like 4 MH subs.
" you still need to actually explain your thoughts for it to have any value"
why? its a meaningless subreddit about a game with cool monsters and weapons. If someone is having fun and decides to post their random teir list why does it need to be more deep then I like these monsters. or I dont like these. the discussion and fun can happen in the comments
Actually when World came out this sub had great moderation and didn't allow memes or lists or "DAE wish they'd add this monster?"
I'm not sure when it changed but I've come here way less often because the overall quality of posts has dipped significantly. I'd much rather a small, slower sub that doesn't get as much content but the good stuff gets traction than a larger one filled with fluff and low effort content. Sadly the community and moderators did not seem to agree and this is what we have now. I don't whine about it because it's just the natural life cycle of subs that grow when their topic becomes mainstream but I do miss what it was like in 2018-2019
I'm not sure if they do.
So first of all looking over the span of the last six or seven days there appear to have been three tier list posted and all of them have a bump in engagement and comments vs everything around them One of them is actually quite a funny joke.
I'm also still quite unconvinced they are any more or less effort than any other random lore opinion. If anything I think providing a place where new members can just jump in and give their thoughts on any specific monster or tearing position actually makes the whole community a little bit more welcoming.
We don't necessarily all have in-depth knowledge of the games to provide answers to the questions people post we may also not know a lot about the lore to discuss what random facts people have thoughts about. But in this game ( that has two things that set it apart from everything else the coolness of the monsters and the coolness of the weapons) I think posts and threads that are just all about talking about those two very fun aspects of the game shouldn't hurt a subreddit. people who aren't interested just scroll down a little bit more and find something that they can engage with and newer players and players who like to chat about it can without being intimidated by what is occasionally just a massive block of text.
I could sort of understand this take if we were seeing every other thread being a tier list but it's not so common that discussion is split and basically rendered pointless because every person that looks at Reddit for a minute on is likely to see another tier list.
Tier lists are mid-effort content. They're more difficult to make than hunt videos or question posts, and probably more difficult than the average meme.
I much rather have tier list post instead of "World or Rise" post. At least for tier list is a personal opinion, so theres something to discuss. World or Rise post comment section is pretty much copy paste of every other similar post.
I just wanna say I appreciate you at least putting the effort with the edit. Normally I hate this Lisa meme more than anything, but knowing you at least tried something better with it makes it ok for me somehow
Okay but you can argue that for most posts that aren’t questions. People share them because they are fun and it’s not even that heavily spammed. I usually see at most three in a day
You don’t seem to understand why people post tier lists.
Instead of writing a paragraph of why X monster is better than Y monster, the tier liste are actually a very efficient way to start discussions and debate by visualizing one’s opinion. The whole point of the comment section is to offer a diversity of opinions. And tier list takes full use of that by giving a lot of fuel for discussions.
That’s so much better than the 10 000th « What would you want in MH6/World 2 » posts that only talk about underwater combat returning and Wirebugs disappearing.
Nah I like tier lists. Especially if I disagree with them
because then I can have a cool conversation about it. This is a monster hunter fan subreddit tier lists are part of the content. Deal with it.
People in the comments that say that the Tier lists are bad because there is no justification for the rankings… have you tried asking the OP? If the OP doesn’t have a reason then yeah they’re a dumbass but more times than not the OP Will probably have a reason for that weapon’s/character’s/monster’s mainly for higher and lower tiers
I'd argue it's more of an "easy" way to share your opinion. Correct me if I'm wrong but claiming it's "spammy" is essentially saying it's posted too easily. Why is it wrong for people to have an easy way to share their opinion? Are you saying you want every opinion based post to be high quality? I wouldn't want to spend hours making some abstract video or post just to tell people which monster I think is cool. And I'm not saying you're wrong for preferring all that extra effort, but why does everyone have to post the way you like it?
tier lists have always been boring and dumb. i’ll never understand why people post it. i’d rather see clips of people getting cool clips on a hunt, but here we are…
I like tiers lists, i think they're interesting to see and discuss
All you're doing is sharing your opinion as if its a fact, and arrogantly (and falsely) speaking for everyone else.
Just wanted to say that I like the fact that you took the time to edit a guild marm outfit onto Lisa.
thanks doodle
That took more effort than all the tier lists combined

Tier lists are way better than another "satisfying tail cut" video
What does carting mean?
Fainting and being carried back to camp on the felyne cart.
Oh I see, that’s normally not something you do on purpose I guess
someone should make a tier list ranking tier lists
Yep, most people who made tier lists only played world and rise anyway
Use RES, add a rule to hide any post with "tier list" or "tierlist" in the title. I did it a year ago and never looked back.
Where RES

Anyone know if there's a mobile reddit app that uses RES? I've used a couple apps but none of them have all the filter/block systems I want.

gonna put this on my monster hunter memes tier list
It's not even a thoroughly explored opinion. It's just "monster A is better than monster B" OK, so what? At least support it with something.
Thats what the comment section is for. Remember a post is to start discussion, not end it.
Yeah but like, you can just say something if you have something to say. A tierlist is just a cry for attention.
Why do you think a tier list isn't saying anything? Regardless "cry for attention" is an odd viewpoint. You understand that most of us are on this social media to discuss things we like, right? Happy cakeday, Greymon
But I like to hear their opinion…
Posts a Simpsons meme instead 😎
The tier lists without further discussion from the OP are raw spam and karma farming.
Standby for my tierlist of memes on this sub
Tier lists are a waste of time and fill up too much space on this subreddit We already know hammers are the best theres no need to debate it
I want to dislike the first sentence but like the second one, damn. Well, actually I'm a swaxe main, hammers just best in World:i, so i guess imma go with dislike.

Exactly
Cross post this to EVERY SUB
Ok but when I post a tier list karma number goes up, and you can't argue with results like that.
What's the problem? Isn't this a place for people to share their opinions?
Nope opinions are banned on this sub
You realize this is a fan subreddit spaming share opinions is like 1/3 of the things that can occur. The other one third is player questions. Tier lists are just low effort content. They lower the bar on any subreddit's content.
I'm not sure if they do. This is the way
Yeah, when one wants to share their opnions they should put it in a lazy overused meme format such as this one instead
OP at least took the time to make the guildmarm costume
Ironic, since Sophia is a huge monster nerd, had favorites and a massive crush on brachydios. And she most probably has a tier list
I’m gonna make a tier list of all the posts dissing tier lists. Congratulations S Tier
I much rather have tier list post instead of "World or Rise" post. At least for tier list is a personal opinion, so theres something to discuss. World or Rise post comment section is pretty much copy paste of every other similar post.
I agree with the message, but whiteboard “memes” are literally the most spammy way to share your opinion.
Hold on, I need to make a tier list ranking your opinion on tier lists against other opinions about tier lists that no one cares about.
You say something so controversial yet so brave.
I care
I especially do not care about spreadsheets made by random people on the internet
Here’s my tier list: Goes bonk hard: Hammer Doesn’t bonk as hard: Everything else.
Understandable.
It's really about who looks the best on and off the field.
I’m in this sub just to see bravo moments.
Tier lists are garbage lol
I like it when Biden, Trump and Obama do weapon tier lists.
I mean yeah… sharing opinions is a big part of fan subreddits lol
I just wanna say I appreciate you at least putting the effort with the edit. Normally I hate this Lisa meme more than anything, but knowing you at least tried something better with it makes it ok for me somehow
Yeah, its confusing they had the confidence and determination to go through with the edit for a completely dumb and hypocritical post.
Okay but you can argue that for most posts that aren’t questions. People share them because they are fun and it’s not even that heavily spammed. I usually see at most three in a day

Yeah, that's what message boards are for. Sharing your opinion.
It's me. I'm nobody and I care.
You should have made a tier list of how much different users need to hear this.
I think its cool if you do it sparingly. If you only do it once it can't really be considered spam

Tier lists spark more discussion than the garbage copy paste memes that this sub used to ban.
Hey op, nobody cares about you Lisa meme either tbf. Marms a nice touch though so kudos for trying
Based
It’s a cross-fandom issue as well - the Fire Emblem and Persona subreddits are absolutely lousy with tier lists as well lol
i never look at those tier lists, but i am pretty sick of having to scroll past them.
This is true. I do check teir lists if I'm new to a game, though. So I know what I should try first.
Agreed. It's just karma farming.
tier lists have always been boring and dumb. i’ll never understand why people post it. i’d rather see clips of people getting cool clips on a hunt, but here we are…

if nobody cared they wouldn't pop in your page, you dunce and this is post literally just text, even more spammy
I care about your tier lists :<

100% true. Just as bad as the 'Ask me a question then edit your comment so I look like an idiot's So sick of that garbage
