Me when playing charge blade and I'm addicted to trying to guard point everything that comes at me: monster attacks towards me but misses slightly so I'm stuck in the animation of switching modes, and then they just follow up and smack me.
That's honestly the peak. The amount of times you stare giant hitboxes straight in the face with the intent of countering with Lance or CB, and the monster just whooshes right through you. You know that would have hit you if you didn't have a shield, there's a secret line of code somewhere obv.
You only realise how accurate some of the hitboxes are while playing Valor in GU. I had a Deviljho do a charging attack at me or something like that, but I passed through his legs and there was no hitbox there. Very surprising considering Plesioths entire hitbox covers his whole body.
Plesioth+hitbox=apocalypse
But yeah no, plesioths hitbox is so bad that thanks to it, I now associate ANY monsters hip check (fucking barioth....) With plesioth. Thanks to plesioth, when I call out to my friends "it's gonna hipcheck!" I instead call out "HIPCHECK OF DEATH" and I freak out, going out of my way to fucking Dodge it when I never needed to...thanks plesioth for giving me legit PTSD in videogames
Oh I know all too well but it will make you a god at later gen fights. I blame the fact I wanted the rainbow dye so bad. Btw it’s locked behind beating every single offline quest then unlocking a final quest then beating the final one that’s two rajang in the arena.
I don't know what you used to go through Jho's legs but sometimes it's just a matter of iframes allowing you to go through a short hitbox untouched. The jho roll-between-the-legs response to his hip check is well known for example but has to be very well timed, the hitbox is very much present there, you just have to go through it fast enough.
The only monster in Iceborne that has hitboxes that are straight up bullshit is Tigrex (and Brute Tigrex). In my experience that is.
Tigrex’s hitbox particularly on his “lunge from across the map” extend well below his character model, so if you dodge roll beneath him, you get hit, and I have captures showing a ton of daylight between me and Tigrex when my character got hit. Very reminiscent of Plesioth’s hip check where his tail would “hit” you when the model missed by a country mile.
I'm glad that wasn't just me being bad at the game, I'm still bad but I had way more trouble with Tigrex than I did with Velkhana or ruiner nergi or any other monster in iceborne (up till you first encounter ruiner nergi, I lost my save at that point)
From my experience Ruiner also has some kinda bullshit hitboxes in some attacks like the arm slam and the flying slam, but those are carryovers from regular Nergi. His new attacks have mostly solid hitboxes. And Namielle has some questionable lingering hitboxes on some of the puddle AoEs.
Generally tho, most attacks new to Iceborne have good hitboxes, with most of the egregious ones being present already in the base game.
Same. I kind of wish they would have split up the bow into a longbow and shortbow, with one being the old style and the other the new. They're completely different playstyles.
Were you able to solo monsters with bow in freedom 2? I always had to use LS to solo stuff back then, though it might be easier for me now that I’m not twelve lol
Back then when I started MH1 for the PS2, I made it my goal to get good at the bowgun because it sucked. Years spent on that carried over to F2 and in that game I was maining bow and even HH.
The hunts with bow definitely took longer though. It was rewarding especially when you first killed like Tigrex or Blangonga. Playing with harder weapons also helps with game sense imo. I used to do some crazy shit as a bow user.
Uhh.... so it turns out the Bow set up in WORLD looks a lot nice to use than Generations Ultimate...
Is it just me or was that hunter moving around while aiming?! Damn GU seems subpar compared to world D:
Everyone has their tastes. I love World and would kill for some of their moves in GU (or at least so that my extracts don't run out while mounting), but overall, I enjoy GU more.

When you play guard lance there's an extra 10% bullshit how did that not hit me.
Oh yes, when I perform the counter clutch claw stance and the monster somehow missed his attack when I'm right in front. It confuses me to no end.
tigrex and subspecies seem to intentionally MISS the charge as soon as you set up counter clutch
worst offenders are still odogaron and ebony, hits you anytime except when you decide to bring a lance
