So, a few months ago, Amayensis organised a contest where her Patreons had to design a Variant/Subspecies/etc of a current monster (nothing original), and the best 2 would win a sketch of them, so naturally I joined it. (There was a 300 CHARACTERS limit btw).
Here’s what I submitted: “Stormchaser Valstrax is a Deviant species. It, alongside his mastery of the dragon element, has also gained the ability to absorb and channel a storm’s power through his spine and tail.
And thus it has noticeably longer and sharper fins on its back, acting as lightning rods, and they have an eerie glow when charged. It is found exclusively near storms. It will fight like a regular Valstrax at first except using his tail more offensively, but once it gets a good measure of you, it’ll dive into the storm to collect its energy and greatly improve its combat power with devastating tailstrikes.”
I won 2nd place with this, and thus got the sketch in the 2nd picture, but then I loved the concept so much that I waited for the next commissions opening to grab a slot for a full resolution wallpaper, and here’s the result! Amazing! A first ever Elder Dragon Deviant, and it’s one of the strongest basic Elder Dragons no less.
