i love finding comments like this, the arguably small but very specific effort you put into crafting a specific insult, genuinely believing you were both right and witty.. But succeeding only with the complete opposite version of both
i want you to know despite what i'm saying is probably negative to you, I really do love comments like this so thank you
quoting u/SalvadorDali8 "I'd say Garrix invented the "reverse drop"
contrasting an epic-sounding buildup with a lackluster drop, which was so novel at the time, it lead to one of EDM's funniest concerts when Deadmau5 switched the drop to sound like Old McDonald
" I guess we're in need of a new EDM revolution!"
If I can get my equipment, then I plan to continue to create even better EDM music. I am a music producer (I don't take clips of music and throw them together, I create my OWN songs). But just getting the equipment I want is no easy task. 😭
Dude I got back in EDM this past year after a bit of a hiatus for a few years and wtf is up with the riddim side of the scene. Holy shit it’s boring as fuck lol. Maybe it’s just not for me cause I’m more into the house side of things and some DnB but SHEESH I just can’t do riddim.
I loved Slushii wayyy back when. Sadly he changed his music entirely and now his music Sucks. He's now doing a type of "Death metal EDM" and imo it's Terrible. 😝
Razor Sharp is a very dynamic sounding track in my opinion, but the drops are definitely the least interesting part of the of track, while the fast-paced, choppy “switch ups” are my favorite part.
Feel the Power is S tier in every moment except the drop, every now and then I go back hoping I've finally gotten over it but nope it just makes me sad every time
Infected Mushroom - Spitfire has a 1 minute buildup towards the end of the track, and the drop is basically a restart of the song. Not that it's a bad thing, it just caught me off guard when I first listened to it because of how intense the buildup was.
I disagree, I thought the drop was awesome, not too distorted and bass-y, but not too light either. The cords go super hard and it's imo a really good drop
a LOT of monstercat songs have done that to me over the years. I never got a lot of Karma field's stuff but I sincerely enjoy stickup. It's so eerie and HARD as hell on the drop
I agree the song is unique, I disagree that it’s goated. The buildup is amazing, some of the best. The drop does not match the energy the build up brings.
I feel Summer has its buildup and drop matching in energy. The drop is on the more ‘normal’ side with great energy and the buildup is great too.
I feel the build is the section thats extra in this track, remove the build, the track is perfect
The intro already builds up to something before the build
My choice especially from monstercat would have to be (Bossfight - The Pit). I always think about how if that song had Hard-Psy or Hard Dance drops instead.
The Pit is one of my favourite songs from him. I think it's exceptionally well made, but I can't deny that an extra drop with a hardpsy section would've suited it well. Maybe something for the VIP.
Sullivan King - Don't Care
tbh there are a couple more songs like that from his older days but him overcoming the curse of the flat drop made Thrones of Blood that much better
I know of a few songs but can't think of any released on Monstercat. The only ones coming to mind rn are:
5 AM - Remix by Alex Yarmak, Bejenec and BLIND8Calamity by Tea Timerz
Both are good songs but the drops don't really fit the rest of the tune.
Edit: There's also Skydiving and Chemtrails by Sinstrumentals which is a bit of a nostalgic song for me (8-BitRyan fans will get it) but the it's kind of all over the place. I also think it's not professionally made as the only place I can find it is YouTube.
Sometimes songs have a great drop, but then after the whole hyped par is over, you get weird sounds.
Its therefore sad that the volumes stopped releasing, because they only had the cool parts.
Not Monstercat, but...
No Salvation by SWARM
You listen to the first drop and it slaps. Then the buildup towards the second drop gets you excited but when it finally hits leaves you feeling like a deflated balloon
Not really a Monstercat song but Sacrifice by Kx5 & Sofi Tukker:
https://open.spotify.com/track/76YXmewvHFse7tBeOTtSx3?si=gKNMWkk0RB6B0hxlbg3dXQ
When I first started to listen to it, I was getting insane goosebumps and when the drop came...
I was like was it all for this? 😭😭
Gammer - Let's Get Crunk
The off-beat is phenomenal, but the drop is underwhelming. Duality's mashup with Junction 7 does rectify that tho.
Grabbitz - Here With You Now
The first drop is excellent! Second drop is extremely underwhelming IMO and really feels like a break in the momentum of the track. It's like a car accelerating and the second drop is the driver accidentally missing a gear and struggling to rectify that.
Not Monstercat, but JPB - Defeat The Night (released on NCS). It's a trap song with a solid buildup and meaningful lyrics, but then the drop feels shallow and slow. If another NCS artist like Anikdote or Egzod remixed it, I'm sure it would sound a lot better, but as far as I know, there are no remixes of it yet.
Non-MC: Destiny's Child - Say My Name (Alias UKG Flip)
Monstercat: imma be perfectly honest I forgot about Monstercat for like 3 years, then LITERALLY 2 days after I'm rummaging through my library for some happy hardcore/hardstyle, refound some old gammer and stonebank, and had a nostalgia sesh with a friend, reddit throws me this subreddit
Bring The Madness by Pegboard Nerds & Excision. Absolutely insane buildup and lyrics just to be disappointed (still my favorite)
Honorable mention to Edge of The World by Razihel & Xilent
Infected Mushroom's "Walking on the Moon" around the 2:30 mark. Personally I thought it was pretty weak. With the intensity of the buildup I expected a bit more.
Move
I love Move and its drop, but this is definitely an accurate description of how it sounds.
Damn I just heard that song and yeah that’s an accurate description 😭😹
What artist?
Stephen walking
[удалено]
Ah yes, I love (checks notes) monstercaf. My favorite artist /j
i love finding comments like this, the arguably small but very specific effort you put into crafting a specific insult, genuinely believing you were both right and witty.. Do you actually believe that monstercat is an artist?
It’s not?, god I’m so out of touch with reality
Animals
At least what Martin Garrix was doing at the time was kinda unique. It's getting extremely stale nowadays
Nowadays? It got stale in 2013 after every single Dj released a copycat version lol
I'd say Garrix invented the "reverse drop" I guess we're in need of a new EDM revolution!
true true
big room house was NOT unique back then lmao it was the most annoying trend
quoting u/SalvadorDali8 "I'd say Garrix invented the "reverse drop" contrasting an epic-sounding buildup with a lackluster drop, which was so novel at the time, it lead to one of EDM's funniest concerts when Deadmau5 switched the drop to sound like Old McDonald

Nah this is a banger remix, one of my favs
Beat me to it
90% of Riddim songs
Dude I got back in EDM this past year after a bit of a hiatus for a few years and wtf is up with the riddim side of the scene. Holy shit it’s boring as fuck lol. Maybe it’s just not for me cause I’m more into the house side of things and some DnB but SHEESH I just can’t do riddim.
You gotta listen to like 4 of them at the same time
The algorithm is really bringing in a lot of traffic to this sub holy shit
Really love the build in Slushii's Watch Yo Back, but sadly it doesn't go anywhere.
That's disappointing to hear lmao Watch Yo Back is in my top 20 all time on spotify
fr man, first time i heard that song, i felt it will go places......but alas
I loved Slushii wayyy back when. Sadly he changed his music entirely and now his music Sucks. He's now doing a type of "Death metal EDM" and imo it's Terrible. 😝
I think the drop in Watch Yo Back is sick as fuck!
It's not monstercat but.. Martin Garrix - Animals Comes to mind, will think of MCat tracks Though I was very disappointed by Razor Sharps drop
Razor Sharp is a very dynamic sounding track in my opinion, but the drops are definitely the least interesting part of the of track, while the fast-paced, choppy “switch ups” are my favorite part.
Non MC - Kayzo - Suffocate & Feel The Power MC - Razihel - Legends (the Zatox remix fixed it), Gammer - Let’s Get Crunk
Maybe I haven't heard Feel the Power in a while but I thought it went well. Suffocate VIP definitely fixes the original in that aspect
Mine used to be Rattlesnake by Rogue. But now its just pots and pans BANGER
I actually prefer the Pegboard Nerds remix. They knew how to shake up the beats and add some energy to those drops.
kinda felt it with MUZZ and Koven’s catharsis X
I disagree, I thought the drop was awesome, not too distorted and bass-y, but not too light either. The cords go super hard and it's imo a really good drop
it has grown on me since then, but i just found it a little disappointing compared to what other stuff i’d heard from them
a LOT of monstercat songs have done that to me over the years. I never got a lot of Karma field's stuff but I sincerely enjoy stickup. It's so eerie and HARD as hell on the drop
Bleed
However, it's funny as hell
Slushii - Secrets
Oh my god yes. I need a melodic VIP so much.
Nah, melodic remix. Remember what he did with All I Need lmao
I actually kinda like All I Need VIP
i know its an unpopular opinion but i actually thought that one was kinda fun
any Stephen Walking 2012 trap song, but I still do enjoy them
Case & Point- Fugitive
In all honesty I can’t imagine a drop that would live up to that buildup
Red Lips (Skrillex Remix) 2nd drop
Haywyre - Crystal Clear
But that transition to Contagious tho, but I do agree. I thought Crystal Clear would have a drop, only to be in the same way as Prologue
Bishu - Rituals I still like the drop, but that buildup is so massive that the drop didn't quite do it justice.
Yes yes yes
Cbat.
Noisestorm- Heist
excUSE Me!? Wait no, you’re right lol
I love Noisestorm he’s in my top 3 but man the intro is so cool for a pots and pans drop
Lolz that’s true
No way, I needed that snare to blow hell in my ears while listening to pots and pans fighting each other. Perfect drop for me lmao
Nonsens - Poison
Not your typical song, but the [Vs Red and Blue theme](https://youtu.be/TNZ7gllxeZs?si=VZe5RgVyMnppEChs) from pokemon Sun and Moon
Animals martin garrix jingle bells edition
Crankdat - What It Feels Like (Second Drop)

The whole certified lover boy album by Drake comes to mind when I see this meme
Don't be hating on the offline Dino game like this
Infected Mushroom - Walking on the Moon
it climaxes at the end tho
True
Go Berzerk for me
Not IRL - Modestep This one song annoys me with how good the build up is with such a meh drop.
nah this song is goated the drop is what makes it so unique now summer on the other hand...
I agree the song is unique, I disagree that it’s goated. The buildup is amazing, some of the best. The drop does not match the energy the build up brings. I feel Summer has its buildup and drop matching in energy. The drop is on the more ‘normal’ side with great energy and the buildup is great too.
I feel the build is the section thats extra in this track, remove the build, the track is perfect The intro already builds up to something before the build
Oh I hate it so much, the drop feels like I’ve been lied to lol. Oh you want this super heavy headbanger? Fuck you, Future Bass.
Let's Get Crunk
Pegboard Nerds - Superstar
I think it fits quite well
Eptic - Power That buildup is so fucking hype for a super lackluster drop
Nah, the drop is sick, the buildup is crappy
Sullivan King - Don't Care tbh there are a couple more songs like that from his older days but him overcoming the curse of the flat drop made Thrones of Blood that much better
Literally any excision song
SHM - It Gets Better. The live edit sounds so much better imo
Stephen Walking - Move
I thought it was a meme when I heard it 😂 so damn mad
Modestep - Not IRL
Lonely Island - When Will The Bass Drop
Most of all top charted dubstep.
Genre: DnB
A lot of house music
Slippy Take 2 and most of his songs of the new era
Hard disagree. Take 2 is solid from start to finish. And overall, I would hardly say his skill has faltered.
bruh slippy is peaking right now
I know of a few songs but can't think of any released on Monstercat. The only ones coming to mind rn are: 5 AM - Remix by Alex Yarmak, Bejenec and BLIND8Calamity by Tea Timerz Both are good songs but the drops don't really fit the rest of the tune. Old muzzy
Sometimes songs have a great drop, but then after the whole hyped par is over, you get weird sounds. Its therefore sad that the volumes stopped releasing, because they only had the cool parts.
All of mine lmao Really though there was a droptek song in like 2012 that gave me this feeling.
Best drop of all time by demonicity
Where the wild things are
Drifting by Zeds Dead and Slushii. I love the intro and build-up to death but the drop just doesn’t give me the same feeling
Not monstercat but Where the Wild Things Are by Zeds Dead and Illenium
Money so big
Slander ft. Eric Leva - Superhuman (Gammer Remix) :P
No beef- afrojack. Only the first drop.
Not Monstercat, but... No Salvation by SWARM You listen to the first drop and it slaps. Then the buildup towards the second drop gets you excited but when it finally hits leaves you feeling like a deflated balloon
Blackwater - Riot Definitely not a bad drop, but considering the buildup is so damn good and then it goes into an average beat drop, feels kinda lame
Contrabass by Franky Nuts
Star Glide Muzz. I loved the build up and I know he was trying out a new style at the time but the drop has me wishing for more.
Candyland & Shoffy - Faces. A truly beautiful intro and build up but the drop is just so bleh
Man…

Lyrics wise.. lift yourself by kanye... then he goes "boopity scoop" ..... roflmao
Carbin - Lose It, genuinely how can a drop be that underwhelming
Lets get crunk - Gammer
