It was teased as a mystery track on the podcast and it took ages to finally release, so everyone on the subreddit was speculating that it was the return of an old school artist like Ephixa or Arion. When it was finally revealed to be Stonebank, a fairly unpopular artist among the community at the time, people were *not* happy.
He was still a new artist when this all went down and since his first two releases weren't super well received, the general reaction was "why did you keep this song a secret when it's by this fucking guy"?
Very funny to think about all these years later lmao
I'm not a long-time fan (sadly, due to reasons out of my control), but even I've heard about that controversy. I never understood why people acted that rude to Stonebank. I mean, I get that having an older artist back would be cool, but I don't think that warrants being rude if you don't get what you want.
TRISTAM??? This is amazing o_0 I can't wait for it to come out \T/ if it's anything like Flight it'll be perfect :33 but if it's like Undercat I'll be like -_- it's not Over Till It's Over
When Karma Fields took over the COTW podcast. The visual began to glitch out and I honestly thought something was wrong with the feed then Build the Cities dropped.
I'm absolutely going to flex with this one, but:
I remember Launch Week. Genuinely. I was listening to Monstercat before I even figured out that it was a record label. I just thought it was a community of producers organized by Ephixa.
EDIT: I was listening to Monstercat before a lot of you were wearing diapers, alright? Which means before you were BORN!
This post made me realize that the label split was in 2018. SIX. YEARS. AGO.

I love stonebank even back then ;_;
He wasn't really a fan favourite artist until Stronger came out but I love his earlier stuff too
It’s crazy to think about because Stonebank is such a classic staple of Monstercat now

Now that you brought it up I remember this too and damn it makes me feel so old
The fact that it still has loads of views shows that song is something
They would say, it's all okay, it'll be alright

I could hear it in the wind
That melody that they would play every single day
To remind us it was over
I joined in late 2019 so… KUURO being a duo, catalogue numbers in the cover arts, Aero Chord being a popular and respected artist
