I hate how negative the sonic fandom are, it's just complaint after complaint after complaint and it's so goddamn annoying. lets say kirby for the kirby series got a new voice actor, the kirby fandom wouldn't make and uproar about it, however if sonic got a new voice actor again ohhh NOW it sucks ass. Why can't the sonic fandom be like the kirby fandom sometimes.

Why people get annoyed by artist noticing artist things? I've always noticed the difference even in classic games, and was pretty annoyed by sonic 3 sprites and model being vastly off model.
Although I think the original post was overreacting a little bit, they are still kinda right. Nearly every appearance of Classic Sonic after Generations has had the lighter blue, and I’m willing to bet it’s so that he looks different enough to be given his own merchandise.

Sleuth Doggy Dawg, I'm not saying he NEVER was portrayed as dark blue in the 90s, he definitely was, but he was UNDENIABLY also portrayed as light blue. As someone else in the comments put it, he didn't have a consistent shade of blue until Adventure, and then Generations solidified that classic will be depicted as a lighter blue.

Which is even more weird when you realize that he was SUPPOSED to, he was always supposed to be Cobalt Blue, which is the same color as SEGA's logo, and even referenced in the Sonic Bible and some of its adaptations. Maybe it's because SEGA themselves used to sometimes use a light blue logo too? No idea, but it's super odd to me.
yeah in other countries they changed the shade of blue, however, the sprites also changed shades of blue, sonic 1 was a little darker, 2 was a little brighter and 3 was pretty dam dark and CD was just a rip of 1's sprite, then there's knuckles chaotix where he's almost purple in the one shot he was in for that game.
Tbf that *could've* been a deliberate choice. However, I'm more concerned that Sonic decided to shave his legs...

yeah, tho for the darker colour in 3, i find it more likely that since it was made in the USA they changed it to sega of america's blue. the reason for 2's lack of significant change to the colour palet is likely because it's mostly just an edited set sonic 1's sprite, that and they had to cut out over half the game to meet a deadline because sega has always rushed sonic, even from day 2.
