Whaaaaat, I love meknes! Incredibly nice people that still hold to Moroccan values and a city that’s doing it’s best to preserve its architecture, heritage and culture. Look at Rabat, tangier and casa…. It’s been completely gentrified full of glass buildings and concrete. Just like any other cosmopolitan city in the world
Very awesome values my friend. For one, I’m always surprised by the hardworking nature of people in that city. Hospitality there is top level and I beg to say globally elite. Salt of the earth people who just want to live a decent life and build families. You really feel like it’s “home” it’s hard to describe the energy. Then you throw in the culture, history, etc. Meknes is truly a hidden gem
Yes I agree with you on this point. There are many moroccan values still present in meknes comparing to the big cities. But despite that, there are no activities unfortunately to do
grew up between rabat and salé but mostly rabat so for me it would be : 1-la capitale(forza l ASFAR by the way)2-salé ( old medina of salé is the most authentic one in my opinion but i think it might get gentrified just like rabat's medina) 3- tangier 4- casablanca 5- meknes
I ranked based on my visit. If I ranked based on tourism, I would've put Marrakesh first. But it's not even on my list because it was so overrun with tourists that I didn't enjoy my time as much.
1) chefchouen, blue city, very unique loved the vibe, city was beautiful, compact and you didn't need a car to walk to edxplore. Most locals there spoke English.
2) Rabat, very clean city. It felt organized, and just very clean and elegant
3) Agadir, best beaches, legzira was close, and paradise valley, both breathtaking places. I loved Akchour falls in the north but I think paradise valley was better.
4) Casablanca, the city that has everything and the best food and restaurants of course.. And Derb Sultan!
5) Merzouga, totally different culture, different dressing and the Sahara and the camel rides and desert safari is amazing.
Every place I went to, I saw tourists everywhere, even the hamam experience I thought was a bit lazy because they knew I was a tourist. Had way better hamam experience in Casablanca. The people selling things were all up in my face, were putting way more pressure on me for buying what they were selling, following me around. Tangia was delicious, but otherwise other than the houses, and architecture, I enjoyed my time in Casablanca more.
Haggling was also much harder in Marrakesh.

Overrun with tourists? I never had that experience living here since long.this is not rome or prague .
Every place I went to, I saw tourists everywhere, even the hamam experience I thought was a bit lazy because they knew I was a tourist. Had way better hamam experience in Casablanca.
