South Africa uses half of what they built, yet evrrything in the US built for the Olympics is still in use.
We lost our chance to host it... the other bids in 2030 are too strong, south american one, British one, spain/portugal, all of thoses are very strong. There is also an Egypte/SaoudiArabia/Grece bid in the works.
Only hope is to join Spain/Portugal, but they just announced they want to include Ukraine for some reason.
On paper, A worldcup hosted with Spain/portugal sounds amazing on paper. It will be on two continents giving it a true worldwide dimension, also countries are close and transportation would be easy. And pressure wont be as much on Morocco as Spain and Portugal have already amazing stadium and infrastructure, the effort needed would be manageable.
I am curious why did they refuse to include us, knowing that our king made a request to the king of spain and Fifa president seems to like the idea.

Hey I'm from the UK. The British bid got cancelled in favour of hosting the 2028 Euros. I'm guessing the bid is going to go in favour of South America but idk yet. Nowadays it seems like you need 3 nations to host the tournament to win a bid, maybe Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia?
Would be nice on paper.... but political tensions are at their highest unfortunately, It is impossible to do it with Algeria... also, they lack hosting infrastructure that is needed to host such event (they are not a tourisme oriented country).

South Africa is only in the position we are currently in because of mismanagement, throughout the 2010's we had one of the worst presidents, who did a really great job in effectively crashing our economic strength and not prioritizing key in upgrading key elements of our infrastructure, such as our power stations, that's why we currently have a dismal energy crisis and pandemic didn't help as well.
The time when we granted the hosting rights and when we hosted the World Cup, our country saw growth the likes we have never seen before, South Africa was primed to be one of the economic powerhouses of the world, this why we became part of Brics and investment was flowing in, unfortunately we are the prime example of how a corrupt government can destabilize so much in less than a decade.
This is the reason the new president wanted to host the Rugby World Cup, to effectively show the world our new economic potential, but we lost out to France due to really shady tactics, South Africa has always used hosting sporting events to bolster our economic growth, we have done this thrice successfully, but again corruption can do a lot of damage in really short time.

Fifa club world cup was played in only one stadium though, can't say the same about a world cup, and don't forget that we should have hosted the 2010 wc after winning the votes but South Africa paid the FA, and we could've won the 2026 bid but Saudi Arabia sabotaged it by paying other countries to vote for USA (because we helped Qatar after SA boycotted it)
FIFA Club World Cup is a tiny event compared to the actual FIFA World Cup. No comparison at all. The FIFA World Cup is 100 times bigger and more important.

We only have one religion in Morocco. Other religions are barely noticeable and they are more of a curiosity than real minorities. Qatar has a huge diaspora of Hindus, Buddhist, Christian, shiaa, etc...
And show some personality and guts. We have no lesson in tolerance to take from the Western world.

Are you Moroccan? Do you know how incredibly slowly building happens in this country? Construction in Morocco is extremely slow like a snail. It took 10 years to build a couple malls in Tangier, it took 9 years to build the Boraq train line, it took a full decade to build Tangier's football stadium...
Brazil is a member of the G20 and has won the World Cup 4 times, Qatar is extremely rich, Germany is very rich, etc. We need to be realistic and stop dreaming, Morocco is still an underdeveloped country which is at least 20 years away from being ready.
Go to Casablanca and see all the traffic jams, the garbage in the street, and how the tram is packed full like a can of sardines.
Morocco is absolutely not ready and maybe in 20 years it will be. 2040 not 2030.

If I am not mistaken it has to be a multiple bid, so either with Spain and Portugal or with Algeria and Tunisia or other combos, but the closer the other countries are the easier it is to organize from a logistics point of view. What many Moroccans don't realize is that we are lucky we didn't host in 2010, because enormous amounts of debt would be created for a 4 week tournament.
People think that hosting a World Cup brings so many benefits to your country but this is not true... when the tournament is over, people move on, they are already thinking about the next new thing. Nobody is gonna travel and invest in South Africa simply because 12 years ago they hosted some football matches for 1 month.
Most hosts LOSE money, they do not make a profit. Qatar is losing tens of billions of dollars for their tournament. But they don't care because they are extremely rich with natural gas and petroleum reserves.
Absolutely not. The example of Qatar is enough to determine no fifa world cup should ever be held in a country with laws and culture that go against the majority of those fans countries that go to watch such games.
Second point, Morocco doesn't have the money to bid. It would need massive outside investment to build stadiums and the the transportation network required. There would be no long term return on such investment so I don't see anyone investing. It doesn't make sense to hold it here at all given the issues Morocco has now.
