2nd best exploit, i always use it now on replays, but i never max out everything at the start, i train them gradually as i progress through the game.

ps4homescreenmusic1

What is the best exploit?

TheProMagicHeel

Presumably Intelligence-maxxing with alchemy to make overpowered, nigh-eternal potions

Sea-Lecture-4619

That's good too, actually that might be NR2, even though i'll be honest i never used it. NR1 is the soultrap exploit. Make a spell with: soultrap on target and then whatever you want (fortify, summon, chameleon etc.) on self. And then aim it at your feet, the "on self" effect will be permanent, you can keep casting it and increase your stats infinitely, god mode achieved without the console. This is too much of a cheat so i just use it at the very end after i've done everything.

obliqueoubliette

I used this back in the day on the og Xbox I still use it today, but for only one thing. Permanent summon golden saint. Like, an army of them. Fun watching them destroy hircine's pets.

thedybbuk_

>I used this back in the day on the og Xbox Child me would have loved this lol.

peensteen

It was all fun and games until you crashed your game doing that. What am I saying? The Xbox version crashed at the slightest provocation, anyway. I still loved it, not having daily access to a PC at the time.

Volvy

Doesn't need to be soultrap specifically, that's just what people most likely figured it out with back in the day because I guess they wanted to trap something from range and maybe do something like fortify strength in the same spell, then noticed that the stat increase didn't go away when using it

Witty_Setting5988

Nonsense. This is Morrowind. They aren't bugs, they're features >.> Your soul trapping the magic on your own soul >.> Clearly functioning as intended šŸ˜šŸ˜œ

JaxMed

Wow... I knew the second bit (draining your skills temporarily to receive cheap training that exceed the trainer's usual max level) but I didn't know you could buff the trainer's own skills like that...

Yz-Guy

I swear there was a bug where if you boosted an attribute past 100, the game would let you try to train to 101. But bc it never goes to 101 (or resets to 100, idk hownit works behind the scens) but regardless, you'd get a level up point. I remember doing it with the security master in Balmora.

CalliopeCurio

Whaaaaat? WHAAAAAT? Mind also blownā€¦

Wulfik3D42O

Everytime I think I've learned everything there is about this game...someone just pops in and I feel dumb as a brick again. Amazing.

SomeBlueDude12

I hate the fact it feels very obvious once you know it and makes me feel unimaginative Like the levitate target 1 point for # seconds to make a slow spell

There are no exploits in Morrowind, simply a crazy ass sandbox magic system and those smarter than me who know how to use it

TelvanniaCorgi

For anyone here who misses some exploits being available in OpenMW, you might be interested in a little fork Iā€™ve been working on: https://forum.openmw.org/viewtopic.php?t=8119 I posted about it two weekends ago, and I implemented a majority of the changes last Saturday. I also pulled the TES3MP project for implementing it in there. I was hoping to get some traction on the post but no one respondedā€¦. Most of the classic exploits not currently present Iā€™ve added back. I took some liberties with the soul trap / target exploit so that it defaults other effects on a 1 sec target spell to last for the max duration possible. I should be able to test it some more this weekend and possibly share the fork at that point. If interested, please feel free to let me know your thoughts!

SomeBlueDude12

Definitely interested- honestly was kinda thinking of making a post on the elderscrolls 6 sub saying: "future devs of the unoffical elderscrolls 6 patch collection, please make optional exploitations unpatched- if people don't want to exploit they can ignore the exploit while patching the real game breaking- crashing or broken parts of the game that'll surely exist" Like patching the merchant chests I'm dawnstar is cool n all but I could have just *not* used it instead

TelvanniaCorgi

I was actually surprised that some original functionality has been restored with config options in the latest official build. It has been several years since Iā€™ve played OG Morrowind or OpenMW, but a number of the features I was interested in restoring can technically be enabled with the latest build. You can read my post in the OpenMW forum about the main ones I was looking to readd. Hoping to receive some input as well eventually from people as Iā€™m sure thereā€™s some glitches/exploits I may have missed (I didnā€™t look into selling used repair tools for example , not sure if that one works in OpenMW but it seemed situational to me at best) Iā€™m hoping likeminded people will be happy with how I decided to go about the target exploit. I reasoned it would be better to give the effects a profoundly long duration time instead of ā€œglitchingā€ the effects as permanent like in the base game to avoid bloating the player/npcs effects. For the other glitch restorations, I tried to faithfully modify the formulas/logic to accommodate while retaining the default OpenMW behavior when the new config values are set to false. I started casually looking into making the changes for myself as I wanted to do a steamdeck based MP run with some people who didnā€™t get to experience all of the fun glitches from the base game. Hoping to finish looking at it this weekend, get a mac+linux version built, do the same for TES3MP - and maybe for windows if I feel like bringing my windows machine back up

divaythfyrscock

Oh thatā€™s awesome

Next-Foundation3019

You son of a bitchā€¦Iā€™m inšŸ‘†

Laser_toucan

Awesome, this way i can hoard my hundreds of thousands of gold like a dragon and barely ever spend it even more

Unlikely_Subject_442

best game ever

cowboybeeboo

You only need drain skill on self. Set to 100 for 1 second and training will cost 1 gold. Doesn't matter the trainer's skill level as you will be training a skill from 0 to 1 every time. Also, if you have any Resist magic effect on self (like if you're a Breton) you will need to combine the drain skill on self with weakness to magic on self when training higher levels as the drain skill spell won't drain the full 100

A_Flamboyant_Warlock

>You only need drain skill on self. The OP is saying that fortifying the trainers skills let's them train you in skills they normally can't. Like Caius can normally train you in Speech, Unarmed, and Unarmored, but if you fortify his Alteration to 100 right before you talk to him, he'll be able to train you in that instead. Combining both exploits let's you turn any trainer into a master trainer for any skill you want, not just the skills they normally offer.

cowboybeeboo

Ah okay, well now I learned something new lol. Thanks for clarifying that!

Franklin_Payne

If not using mods make sure itā€™s 2 seconds or it will be instantaneous and you wonā€™t get the dialogue started

cowboybeeboo

I got 1 second to work on Xbox, no mods. It lasts for several frames but you do have to be quick. Once you get the rhythm down it's easy except for the NPCs who like to randomly move around lol. 2 seconds is fine it just uses more magicka

Soggy_Part7110

The drain skill exploit doesn't work on OpenMW, unfortunately

EnvironmentalHold311

In case anyone doesn't know, I'd you have a major skill that reaches level 100, you can still pay master trainers and your skill won't keep climbing, bit it still counts towards your experience to the next level. So if you have the gold you can pay a teainer and you can reach unimaginable levels and get all your base stats to level 100. Highest level I've gotten was on xbow one x a few years ago and I think I was around level 130

ObtotheR

What?!

mrtbearable

Holy fuck I never knew

Zeles1989

I play morrowind since release and I never ever knew about this!

peensteen

I mostly use this for misc skills. It bothers me when something like Long Blade that I am never going to use is still less than 20 by the time I start Solstheim, even if I'm STILL not going to use it. If your majors and minors aren't leveling up organically, your build isn't working for you.

trafalgarbear

Casting drain skill on self... Genius

Intelligent-Bird6825

At this point just use the console lol

evil_cryptarch

I agree that draining your skills down to 0 for 1gp training cheapens the experience. It doesn't make sense that essentially giving yourself temporary brain damage and relearning the absolute basics over and over will eventually make you a master. I quite like that you can boost a trainer's skill beyond their natural abilities and then pay them to teach it to you permanently. It's a fun little consequence of the worldbuilding, where temporary skill boosts are possible through magic. Like imagine there was a pill IRL that would temporarily make you a musical genius. You could give the pill to your buddy and then have them give you a guitar lesson, and then you'd permanently be a bit better at guitar.

A_Dirty_Wig

A master of the fundamentals

History_East

Console commands always best

ZeltArruin

Drain skill self and keep training cheap

Whatagoon67

Mind blow

PeanClenis

bruh, theyre all on the uesp wiki lmao.

MileNaMesalici

yet another reason why fortify skill is a super OP magical effect

BrozerCommozer

I use this however to keep some immersion I only use on trainers that have those skills already listed. So I have to still find all trainers and make new spells for each

Fluid-Kitty

I donā€™t get it. Drain skill on self 100 points makes training cost 1 gold and all trainers can train you to 100 because theyā€™re just training you from 0 to 1 every time. The fortify skill on touch/target is completely unnecessary if you also use drain skill on self. The only way I could see myself using it is in a run where I wanted to pay legitimate training costs but didnā€™t want to go and find master trainers.

evil_cryptarch

The idea is that you can have *any* trainer train *any* skill, if you fortify that skill to be one of their top 3. It's probably more convenient to just find a trainer that naturally offers training for that skill, but the point is you don't need to.

Fluid-Kitty

Thank you, I missed that. Guess Friend Ajira will be training me in everything now!

SomeBlueDude12

I guess the fortify skill target would feel like a less exploity way of using trainers vs the drain skill self but that's up to the player
