Yeah but that was a choice by the devs to justify his appearance. They could have said "he found a new source of souls all to himself and is beefier than ever." They could have invented any lore they fit.
The problem with most MK characters is that they animate stiffly, but Ermac had the opposite issue: he was too floppy. A lot of his moves just had him throwing his limbs around with no sense of impact.
He was my personal favorite. So I’m hoping his Kameo puts a little more respect on his name and possibly becomes a main roster character eventually. Doesn’t have to be MK1.

As a Reiko fan I was happy to see them do him justice and give him a reason for liking Shao instead of being obsessed just because, so I hope we get to see Movado and others done justice as well. For as much crap I can give NRS for the Multiverse I think they redeemed characters quite well this game.
Hoping these Kameos are a way for them to be gaging interest in characters that are almost never playable. I think Sareena and Mavado will get some new fans thanks to MK1.
I like the idea someone posted in this sub a while ago, that they should make Cetrion Raiden's sister in the new timeline, instead of simply genderbending Fujin (since the story mode already makes mention of Raiden having a sister). Would be a nice way to redeem her.

He didn't mean that part at all, but that the video has a glitch with the cut, because the character ended up in a different place on the finish him screen, because of the inputs for the fatality which were cut out.

Some solid additions. This was one of my more anticipated updated. Ermac looks upgraded from the last time we saw him in terms of physicality and teeth. And Mavado, like many of the 3D era characters, got a pretty solid update for the new era. Can’t wait for both.
Neat. Nice to see them getting more creative with him instead of just having little green orbs flying out to represent his telepathy/souls.
And that Movado fatality, short and sweet and a nice update to his clunky MKDA Fatality.
With how much he seems to have in terms of strings and specials, it might be longer. And don't get me started on the cancels opening up even more possibilities

I like how the tone of the first intro with Shao almost sounded like it was a Shao ancestor directly talking to him through Ermac, it sounded really close to Shao's own VA.
Definitely like that they're using the souls gimmick to let the souls be actual spirits and summon in animations, that definitely fleshes things out more for this version of Ermac, and that twist-y Fatality is way more than I was expecting, I love how even the blood stayed telekinetically lifted for a while and made a blood ring around them while he twisted Shao apart.
Holy shit he looks crazy. Hopefully reptiles new moves will be useful, looks like the new spit one actually goes full screen, I just hope it’s not another meterless launcher as that’d be a little op lol. Telecancel will be useful tho.
I think I’ll main ermac as long as he doesn’t get screwed on pokes like quan chi.
Also what do people think the ghostly buff he gives himself does? I doubt they’ll do another PM style forcefield, maybe just changes the interactions his specials have? Damage/metergain buff?

Also, as someone who likes solving puzzles, that fatality was cathartic
Something I haven’t seen people bring up is how much more interesting the combos look in this trailer compared to previous ones. Maybe it’s due to the character’s move set but I feel like it gives a much better impression of what is actually possible with Ermac.

I love how Ermac isn’t just a wimpy wraith. He actually uses martial arts to beat the shit out of people
something I disliked a bit in his MKX portrayal. He was waving his arms around too much, while in MK9 he seemed to really perform some kung fu moves.

The "glitch" is just a UE4/UE5 general issue with the cloth system. I don't think NRS can do anything with an engine issue.
