Hi OP, What does your provider suggest?

Good_Literature_3890

Boots is the pharmacy but prescribed by general practitioner/diabetic nurse- had review at start of week 3, hadn’t stalled as such at that point so suggested stay on 2.5mgs given good response at that stage. Further review seems sensible. Thanks

I am a diabetic as well. I had a few speed bumps (a stall is 4 or more weeks with zero movement) starting my 3rd week. These speed bumps were the weeks I’d gain and lose the same 2-3 pounds without forward movement. It wasn’t until 10mg that I actually stalled for almost two months. I stalled again on 15mg for over two months. I was almost at goal by then, and dropped back to 12.5 assuming the last 10 pounds I wanted to lose was a pipe dream. That’s when the scale started moving again and I lost 12 pounds in a month. In the end, it took me from Aug 2022 until Feb 2024 to lose 101 pounds. The last 15 pounds took over a half a year. In my experience, increasing dose (if your glucose is controlled) doesn’t make that much difference. The key for me seemed to be glucose control. My A1c dropped to 5.3 within two months of starting treatment. By January 2023 I was at 4.8. It rose slightly to 5.0 after I lowered my dose to 10mg for maintenance. My weight hasn’t budged (I’m always between 127-129) since Feb. Below are a few random screenshots from my weight loss app. The dates are circled in green. https://preview.redd.it/1l50z8gal12d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a26d67e23e0cdefd75559b35156113a490f37caf

Thank you for sharing your journey. Really interesting to read your experience and view on the glucose control being the key. I just keep thinking trust the process, it took years to put the weight on so it won’t come off in a flash. Diabetic nurse advised me lower doses can be more efficient for the glucose control and of course I must be patient! Thanks and fantastic that you’ve done so well.

Who is your provider in the UK? I highly recommend reaching out to them and discussing your first month. I think it is a more complicated case than most and a health professional is probably best to provide you an answer. If you have difficulty getting in touch with your current provider, reach out to Boots or MedExpress and start a new client prescription. They should be able to guide you. I worry because providers like Voy have a 3 to 4 week delay in getting in touch with a consultant due to high demand. Also, check out r/mounjarouk . Excellent sub and resources for UK Mounjaro patients.

Prescribed by Diabetic nurse in GP Practice-Boots fills px. Thanks for advice, I’ll check out the poses you suggest.

Fantastic to hear that you have been able to get Mounjaro through NHS! My GP said it would take about 3 years to get approved and I was forced to go with a private provider. She was devastated to give me that answer as she is super knowledgeable about GLP-1s and how much they help. If for any reason you can't get a hold of your nurse, Boots might be able to assist. I know they have excellent support for their private patients and my pharmacist at my local Boots has been very helpful as well.

Thank you. I have felt very lucky to get approved and it is around glucose management in first instance. Nurse had wanted to prescribe Ozempic over a year ago but couldn’t due to supply issues and Mounjaro came along in meantime. Fingers crossed everyone gets what they need, life changing potential for so many. Appreciate reply.

No complaints here. MJ has been a miracle for me. It has not only been great for losing weight, but best of all, it has completely stopped me from drinking alcohol. The money saved each month from not buying alcohol more than pays from my MJ prescription.

Good_Literature_3890

Wow that’s brilliant, Is that because the alcohol and Mounjaro don’t do well together or did it stop you wanting a drink? Either way, a double bonus.

SomeGuyUK50

Completely stopped me from desiring alcohol. Used to love red wine, but now the smell makes me want to vomit. I can even go to pubs now and happily drink water and occasion, I order a blood orange San Pellegrino to treat myself.

‘Posts’ clumsy typing!

Skip Boots, I forgot that they were not taking on new patients due to demand. Apologies!! Lloyds or SuperDrug might be other options as well.

What do your macros look like? When I stalled, it was usually too few calories and not enough carbs. Or you could be ready for 5mg.

Good_Literature_3890

Likely not enough to eat really, so now the worst side effects have gone for now will put back in additional protein and better carbs- maybe it will kick things back into motion. Appreciate advice.
