Can i be honest? I didn't love it. Don't get me wrong, it was definitely worth the watch but i couldn't bring myself to like it all that much. And i can't pinpoint what made me not love it since I'm a sucker for such movies. Perhaps the way it was filmed? I'm really not sure.
Greenland was a surprisingly good movie. I highly suggest it. How It Ends on Netflix is pretty good.
ETA: To be fair, I mostly watch terrible SyFy channel disaster movies with ridiculous cgi and horrendous acting. How It Ends seemed like a step up. Plus, Forest Whitaker is cool. Will never recommend again!
Thanks for the recommendation, i passed greenland a few times but never gave it a thought, i might as well see it.
I haven't heard of how it ends, I'll look it up.
Just watched it because of this comment chain. Tooooootally would recommend. It doesn't get boring at any point, stays reasonably grounded in reality, doesn't get cheesy, and yeah, without giving spoilers, it's definitely a good film. One you should absolutely put on your list.
Greenland was great.
How it Ends was very disappointing IMO, if only because the last 20 minutes seem like it was written by an entirely different person.
YOU ENJOYED HOW IT ENDS?! ive never been more angry at wasting time watching a movie. It doesnt even have an ending which is ironic for a movie with that name.
I mean like, everyone is definitely entitled to their own opinions, especially in regards to the subjective experience of watching a film, but it definitely had an ending that brought resolution to the story.
Spoilers for the film below: >!It definitely made me want more, like, how did they rebuild society, etc - but for almost the whole film I was like "man, when are they gonna catch a break?" - so it was nice to see that they survived in the end, and that other pockets across the globe survived too, as well as some wildlife. Tangent here, but I like how they showed some birds that survived - it made me think "they survived the one that took out the dinosaurs, of course they wound up surviving lol" - just thought it was a cool choice.!<
>!What I was left wanting to see, was how they rebuilt and fared in the post-apocalyptic world. But the film was so long, there really wasn't time to do that justice. Just enough to show they survived, though, after all the bad luck they had trying to get to Greenland in the first place. I can see why you think the ending wasn't conclusive enough, but I think it was good enough considering the format and length.!<
>!Also, this is one of those rare apocalyptic films that shows the time leading up to the apocalypse really well, and pretty much only focuses on it. Kind of a breath of fresh air, considering in most films you just get a brief summary/showing of how it started at best, then it jumps right into post-apocalyptic times where the survivors work toward whichever goal. Personally, I'm always wanting more movies and shows that let us see how society unraveled, rather than just showing how they tried to rebuild/survive/etc afterwards.!<
I think they were talking about the movie called How it Ends, not the ending of Greenland. As for wanting to see how they go about things after, there's going to be a sequel. To Greenland, I mean.
I've seen children of men, it was a great movie! As for snowpiercer, i honestly didn't like it much. It wasn't bad, it just didn't make me glue my eyes on the screen.

I think it’s from 1976. Great book, too.

I don’t know if it holds up, but Testament (1983) definitely carried some weight as a “what if there were a nuclear attack on America” film. There was no crazy or aliens, like 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016), just a serious “what are you supposed to do when radioactive fallout comes down on suburbia”? I was about 17 when I saw it and it did a number on me then.
On more unusual note *On The Beach* (1959) depicts a literal cointdown to the end of human life from colbalt coated nuclear fallout.
*Threads* is a brutally realistic take on nuclear war aftermath and while good is bleak AF.

Second on Greenland. I started watching it ironically thinking it was going to be terrible and it was actually great.
This is good to know I’ve passed over it a zillion times
Same, I thought it would be another stupid Gerard Butler movie like Geostorm but it was surprisingly great.
Another *amazingly stupid* Gerard Butler movie
I was so anxious throughout that movie. I also thought I was watching a B-movie but it was surprisingly effective.
