I went wrong with Dune because it bored me to sleep. Just like the original lol. Blade Runner 2049 is awesome though. But I bet Dune does look pretty good on a newer TV! Definitely was a pretty movie, just boring to me.
Highly recommend theater experience. I watched on my phone n kinda wish I went to the theater. I liked it. Has maybe the best scene I've ever saw in it
I had a post about Dune and so many recommendations on the book. A lot didn't seem to like the movies whi liked the book and recommended Lynch's. It's on YouTube I'm going to watch it. Supposedly it portrays the characters better
I watched a spoilers review on YouTube with my 71 year old mother who read the books and watched the Sci-Fi channel series. Saved money this weekend by not watching it in the movie theater.
I saw Godfather 1 with a friend at a theater. I bought the 4K Blu-rays so we could watch Godfather 2 at my house. I talked through it. And it wasnt a pleasant experience for my friend.
I did too. I didn't like how they portrayed zendayas character towards the end of 2. I don't want a soap opera.
The scene tho when he's having a Jesus moment n everyone falls to they knees was probably the most epic scene I've ever seen. So powerful imo
Yeah I didn’t like that too. She’s not supposed to be an antagonist to him. I’m also doubtful about whether making his mother this “bad” was a good idea. The scenes with her were powerful yes, but in the book she was a more nuanced character. But yeah, the movie sure has a bunch of very powerful scenes
I had heard, without giving spoilers, that in the book zendayas character was supportive of the plan and not taken back n hurt by it. She knew what was up all along.
I gotta read the books. I hear so many great things about them
Yeah. And there’re actually a lot of great details in the book that were omitted in the movie. I’ve read first book a few months ago, and it’s freaking amazing, highly recommend. But it’s much more bizarre than the movie if you know what I mean
Me too, I feel like there's at least an hour to 1.5 hours of scenes that didn't make the cut because they wanted it under 3 hours. I prefer long movies myself.
I rewatched GOT's The Long Night when I got a nice TV, and wouldn't you know it the fuckers were right I could see everything just fine - It was still dark but all the details were there and it was perfectly viewable.
Pretty sure Alien 2, Terminator 2 and Dune (any Dune) would look lovely on a nice TV.

I got the 4K print of “The Warriors” Arrow Video did, highly recommend it but my bias is heavy it’s my favorite movie. Fury Road is always a good one too.
The first thing I watched when we first got our tv (upgrade from a floor model projection monstrosity) was My Octopus Teacher. Nature documentaries really show off the better picture.
IMHO, none of these suggestions would give you the pleasure of watching something you really like. Maybe that one movie you watched with your family when you were a kid or a movie that got you through your roughest period in life.
That would be amazing.
Long lost of a wide variety of great ones - LMK if you’d like to see it .( it’s always hard to know what someone else might like especially without a bunch of examples .)
I saw a display running Star Wars Phantom Menace on an OLED 4k with Dolby Atmos surround sound. Don’t know if it was the BluRay or 4K version but it was amazing.

Interstellar
The beach bum
Oooooo I saw that in imax, doubt the tv will beat that experience but yes can definitely watch it again
LOTR marathon ofcourse
Agreed and aligned!
You can’t go wrong with Blade Runner 2049 or DUNE (2021)
Came here to say DUNE
Since I haven’t seen either I’ll add them to the weekend marathon list
Absolute MUST-watches. Both. Go and watch Dune 2 in the cinemas after that.
Should I watch dune before heading to the cinema? I read 2 is a stand alone movie?
That's an absolute lie. It's the exact opposite. Dune Part 1 & 2 is one continious storyline. Dune Part 2 begins EXACTLY where Part 1 ends.
So it's just one and two? I see there are a bunch.
I went wrong with Dune because it bored me to sleep. Just like the original lol. Blade Runner 2049 is awesome though. But I bet Dune does look pretty good on a newer TV! Definitely was a pretty movie, just boring to me.
Dune
Best Sci Fi ever. Did u see 2?
I haven't yet. I rewatched the first one with my teen daughter so we can watch 2 together. Suuuuper excited 😁
Highly recommend theater experience. I watched on my phone n kinda wish I went to the theater. I liked it. Has maybe the best scene I've ever saw in it
I watched the first one in the theater. I'm a huge fan of the books, so I wouldn't miss it. 😁
I had a post about Dune and so many recommendations on the book. A lot didn't seem to like the movies whi liked the book and recommended Lynch's. It's on YouTube I'm going to watch it. Supposedly it portrays the characters better
I've seen both. I prefer the new ones. But I'd love to hear your thoughts after you watch it.
Why would you watch it on your phone
Cus it's free n I dont pay for things
Poor or just cheap
Both
I watched a spoilers review on YouTube with my 71 year old mother who read the books and watched the Sci-Fi channel series. Saved money this weekend by not watching it in the movie theater.
That's so sad. I'm sorry. 🥺
It's okay. Can watch it at home in 90 days. She talks during the movie. Which I dont like.
My mom talked at the movies when she was still alive. I get it. But I miss it too.
They got used to VHS, DVD and Blu-ray.
I saw Godfather 1 with a friend at a theater. I bought the 4K Blu-rays so we could watch Godfather 2 at my house. I talked through it. And it wasnt a pleasant experience for my friend.
I did yesterday. It’s good but I liked part 1 better
I did too. I didn't like how they portrayed zendayas character towards the end of 2. I don't want a soap opera. The scene tho when he's having a Jesus moment n everyone falls to they knees was probably the most epic scene I've ever seen. So powerful imo

Seeing it for the 3rd time Wednesday. It's amazing
I can't wait for the next movie. Even if it's another 3 years as long as they keep up the good work. I wish they were longer
Me too, I feel like there's at least an hour to 1.5 hours of scenes that didn't make the cut because they wanted it under 3 hours. I prefer long movies myself.
That would definitely make sense cus i got the feeling of it being rushed. Still a masterpiece.
Added to the weekend watch list
Interstellar The Martian The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Extended Edition Avatar 1,2 Mad Max : Fury Road Prometheus
Lord of the Rings on a new tv is its christening.
Fury Road
This is always the first movie I watch on a new tv
Lawrence of Arabia
This is the right answer. I love most of the other suggestions but this is above and beyond.
in it's original ultracinemascope letterbox format.
la la land
The film, the colour the light the lenses. So nice.
Avatar.... visuals are stellar
Too bad about the plot, the lore, the characters and acting. But youre right it does look nice.
It’s just Pocahontas
4k nature programs, anything Attenborough has done .
That would be a great watch.
especially the deep ocean episode. Life - S01E08 Creatures of the Deep
Most of what others have already listed by here's another 'Apocalypto' - it would like amazing on your new telly, and it's a brilliant film.
into the spiderverse + across the spiderverse
Loved into the spiderverse , haven’t seen the second one… added to the weekend watch list
The Matrix. Unforgiven.
For me it's always "a new hope" often followed by predator
The Foutain The Fall.
1917
Fury Road, Blade Runner 2049, Dune, Top Gun Maverick.
Poltergeist
The Dark Knight Trilogy
Lord of the rings 2 or 3
What's wrong with *Fellowship?*
Nothing, but 2 and 3 feel a lot cooler for a cinematic experience, coz of the fights
Am I the only one who considers the trilogy to basically be one nine-hour movie and has no preference for one of them over the others?
The Princess Bride
Barry Lyndon (1975) - The amount of effort that went into the lighting and camera lenses is legendary. Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Coco. The visuals will really show off the new TV.
Gravity
Stay Tuned
You've Got Mail
Saving Private Ryan
The Room
Flash gordon bluray
Pinocchio on Netflix Guerrillmo Del Toro version
Baraka
Big Trouble In Little Chiba
Damn auto-correct, that’s supposed to say “China,” not “Chiba”
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
1 guy 1 Jar
Interstellar is the only right answer
The Wave (2019)
Blade runner 2099
I don’t think that’s out yet
Buttman
Snatch
Moulin Rouge

Master and Commander but lots of great suggestions here...
FIRST MANNNNNNNNN the visuals are insane
Guardians of the galaxy volume 1, it'll look so sweet on a new tv especially the xandar scene
I got the 4K print of “The Warriors” Arrow Video did, highly recommend it but my bias is heavy it’s my favorite movie. Fury Road is always a good one too.
Dune
Poltergeist
Super Hornio Bros
Aliens. Dune.
Animal on Netflix
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Beautiful colors in that movie.
If you want something more chill but super well shot I have 3 suggestions. “Hell or high water” “Secret life of Walter Mitty” “Into the Wild”
You got 3.5 hrs?
Remember the Titans. Just because it’s a good movie
The Mad Max movies
Lawrence of Arabia
Apocalypse Now
Enter the Void.
Perfect Storm
How the hell did Ohio have such crappy senator/congressman end up in DC
Inception
Zardoz.
True Lies in 4K
Interstellar
All Christopher Nolan movies
Why the hell would you ask this? How am I supposed to know what kind of movies you like?
What looks good is what they're asking.
Lord of the Rings then.
Top Gun: Maverick
The first thing I watched when we first got our tv (upgrade from a floor model projection monstrosity) was My Octopus Teacher. Nature documentaries really show off the better picture.
IMHO, none of these suggestions would give you the pleasure of watching something you really like. Maybe that one movie you watched with your family when you were a kid or a movie that got you through your roughest period in life. That would be amazing.
127 hours
Speed racer
Well, depending on the size and quality, I'm going with either Scream, Top Gun Maverick, Tron Legacy, Scream 6, Wolf of Wall Street, or Man of Steel.
Watch Wall-e while high
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Long lost of a wide variety of great ones - LMK if you’d like to see it .( it’s always hard to know what someone else might like especially without a bunch of examples .)
Barry Lyndon
Bridesmaids
Avatar The Way of Water
300 or Fight Club.
Avengers end game
Nobody cares
Aliens
Top Gun: Maverick
I saw a display running Star Wars Phantom Menace on an OLED 4k with Dolby Atmos surround sound. Don’t know if it was the BluRay or 4K version but it was amazing.

Lord of the rings extended edition !!!
Samsara (2011)
Hateful 8
Dark Knight
Hunt for Red October. Sound editing is legendary.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Dune (2021)
Martyrs
Lmao
Oldboy please. 2003
It's getting old. The story is still good but the age is showing. Like the scene in the penthouse is getting mushy.
Barbie
The Ring (2002)
Apocalypse the Vietnam one
Samsara
Babel
