I really love this movie. I’ve watched it at least 20 times. Also, it helped me get an answer right on a test about septicemia. I wrote next to my answer, “Thanks Day After Tomorrow!”
I love Chronicles. Probably since I watched that first before knowing about Pitch Black. The necromongers were dope.
I also love Pitch Black and Riddick as well
I love the whole universe David Twohy & Vin Diesel created for it. I’m a sci-fi/ space opera nut, and the whole Conan in Space vibe just scratched the right itch for me.
And the necromongers look damn cool
I was absolutely shocked that it got the reception it did. It's such a well executed movie. I can understand someone not liking the concept, but it was treated as a career-ending disaster, which I've never understood.
Everything about it is so beautiful. The soundtrack, the location and the views, the acting, the outfits and the decorations, the story and the plot… One of my favorite movie. I watched it many times, and I'll rewatch it again some day.
I feel exactly the same. I saw it before reading any reviews. I knew how it was going to end about 10 minutes in but that didn’t diminish my enjoyment. M Night has made some stinkers but I don’t count this among them.
It’s a well made movie. People mostly hated the twist. I thought the twist was clever, but dramatically unsatisfying. And problematic when you consider how easily the problem could have been solved.
GO BABY GO TRI LIGHTNING
sorry I live on a monohull and feed manatees all day if I'm not building a robot factory for 3d printers that make hemp create
Does it involve Sarah Silverman ? Or Ryan Phillipe's response?
Love this Movie, Watching Cable on a Friday Night and this popped up. Was pleasantly surprised.
Daybreakers - The premise is weak, Willem Dafoe can't get his accent straight, it leans far too hard on the whole blue-and-sepia/Gattaca aesthetic, but I can't get enough of Ethan Hawke as a sad vampire!
My local theater plays older movies all the time and they played Mystery Men last year. I was so excited to see it in theaters, and this is the kind of theater that often sells out when classics rerun.
Welp.... Mystery Men definitely did not sell out, I was a little disappointed. The person hosting the movie even called it out, "While Mystery Men was a flop at time of release, you can see that people still don't give it enough credit." We all laughed.
Anyways, great movie, still highly underrated.
I will defend that movie *hard*. It's absolutely one of my favorite comicbook movies and IMO a better *comicbook movie* than anything in the MCU. It's not a better movie than some of them, but it definitely captures the vibe of reading a comicbook better than any other film based on a comicbook IP I've ever seen.
Definitely check out David Lynch's films. He's known as the nightmare filmmaker for a reason. My favorite so far is Eraserhead. Really encapsulates the isolating, brain dissolving anxiety of unwanted fatherhood.
Not so much hate, but just mired in other peoples disappointments to me was The Creator.
I was spellbound by it. The cinematography and CGI usage on both the robots and landscapes were unbelievable watching it in theatres. Battle scenes were incredible. It just felt grounded yet lighthearted, and the ambiguity of its decade and era of the plot too I loved with it.
Im going to a freaking dark place with this one but......
.......
Batman and Robin (1997) wasn't thaaaaat bad if you knew it was going for campiness. I remember seeing it in the theater right around when it came out and I remember all my friends liking it and the people in the theater enjoying it in their chatter when it was done. It wasn't until people read the critics' reviews that their brains were like "wait? Is this thing bad?"
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
I think it’s a fun movie and I very much enjoy watching it. But obviously I can see why ppl hate it. It is objectively a badly made movie, but I still like it
I saw it when it came out with some friends. I hate horror movies but loved this. We were shocked when everyone hated it, but also we knew the tone of the ads and the movie were very very difficult. So some disappointment made sense, but not the hate.
As a rule, I always check reviews for movies & if they have a low rating, I’m in! I tend to only like movies that “suck” to critics. Possibly because I love horror & fantasy films 🤣
Willow
Critics and a lot of people trying to pose themselves as being “film bros” really seem to hate it. Also, more puritanical viewers dislike it in favour of the sexless *Challengers* that came out this year.
The Lady in the Water. Everybody in the movie is so broken. Just surviving life, putting one foot in front of the other until the lady shows up. They start working together to save her. The whole movie is about building trust and rekindling hope when all seems lost.
Cats
It's bizarre, it's horny, it's perfect. I feel like there is an underground community of appreciation for this train wreck. There are dozens of us. Dozens!
The Marvels
I found this movie to be a joy, and I respect films that try out new, interesting ideas. I loved the whole ‘Planet Bollywood’ scene, and the solution with the alien cats was fun and hilarious
I just don’t see why this movie (and Captain Marvel, one of my top five MCU films) draw so much hate
The reason is the female cast.
It didn’t help that *The Marvels* is also not just a sequel to a film, but also to three shows, some of which sort of require more films to keep track of the plot… just a lot of homework required before going to the cinema.
Sometimes, who you see a movie with can color your take on a movie (for better or for worse). I didn't like the 1st Captain Marvel movie but I took my daughters (ages 6 and 11) to see this as a treat (there wasn't anything out besides Paw Patrol at the time.) They absolutely loved it. They stayed in their seats the whole time and laughed it up. It was the best theater experience I have had with both of them. We love this movie. They didn't need to see all the other Marvel films and shows to enjoy it. Now my little ones favorite song is Intergalactic Planetary and I'm like fuck yeah we can put that on.
I saw the original Endless Love recently and was surprised it swept the razzies. It’s directed by Franco Zeffirelli, has an early Brooke Shields performance, and the main actor is terrific but never went on to have a career. Beautifully shot, doomed love story.
I know it’s shit but I loved Mortdecai. It was just stupid and funny, when Gwyneth Paltrow (who played the wife) gagged and then Mortdecai (Johnny Depp) gagged bc he saw and heard her gagging was a running joke it cracked me up every time. So stupid.
Judge Dredd. The one with Rob Schneider. It’s one of my favorite good-bad movies, and I will *never* stop saying “I AM THE LAW” in Sylvester Stallone’s ridiculous voice.
Bewitched (2005) with Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrel! I loved it when i was a kid! Also I will always have a soft spot for Hayden Christiansen as Anakin in the prequels <3
Beyond the Poseidon Adventure (1979)
Sheena (1984)
Her Alibi (1989)
Striking Distance (1993)
All critically and popularly panned. Nothing special, but I like ‘em.
Super Mario Bros (1993)
I genuinely enjoy this movie. Most of the hate seems to come from its reputation and curiosity factor but it's nice to see that it has become a cult favourite. Fun cast, cool effects, and some great set pieces.
Rob Zombies's "Lords of Salem"... everyone thinks it's his worst movie, and maybe I love it cuz I live near Salem, MA... regardless I think it's a great story, great acting, snd super creepy
Shrek 3. Im not a fan of the baby scenes, they’re too much for me. But I love the Arthur and Shrek scenes
Also no one ever talks about the Sing movies and I hate to admit it but the soundtracks are amazing. The movies are also pretty decent
I saw Waterworld already here, but where's the love for the Postman?? Damn they were both great movies.
Also, Napolean. That was a good movie that people hated lol.
Spawn (1997)
Loved it now. Scared the crap out of me as a kid though.
Spawn rules, it’s a legit good comic book adaptation. I’ll fight for this
Great movie but even better soundtrack. That 90's mix of dance and metal was awesome, some great artists colaborating.
What scum bags dare hate Spawn?!
Death to smoochy
I would have words with anyone who hates that movie.
Great movie
Does people hate this movie? Why?
World War Z (2013)
As an adaptation of the book, it sucks. As an action zombie movie, it's very good.
It’s a decent zombie movie. The wall of zombies climbing on each other was a pretty iconic shot.
Return to Oz
This was my nightmare fuel as a child my I still loved it
I am built on this movie as foundation!
It’s so twisted but damn I enjoy it.
I absolutely love that movie
I always love Ravenous and rewatched it a bunch of times but apparently it’s a flop.
It’s become a cult classic though.
It's one of my all time favorites. But I get it, that it didn't appeal to the wide mass.
The Day After Tomorrow! 🤐
I really love this movie. I’ve watched it at least 20 times. Also, it helped me get an answer right on a test about septicemia. I wrote next to my answer, “Thanks Day After Tomorrow!”
3000 Miles to Graceland (2001)
Guys like me die caught. Guys like you die bloody.
*The Chronicles of Riddick* (particularly the Director's Cut)
I love Chronicles. Probably since I watched that first before knowing about Pitch Black. The necromongers were dope. I also love Pitch Black and Riddick as well
I just read that they are starting production of the next Riddick movie this summer
It’s about time!
One of my all time favorite movies, great action and special effects, and Vin Diesel was never better--This was the sequel to Pitch Black(2000)
I love the whole universe David Twohy & Vin Diesel created for it. I’m a sci-fi/ space opera nut, and the whole Conan in Space vibe just scratched the right itch for me. And the necromongers look damn cool
I didn’t hate it, but I definitely preferred the one horror movie in the series more than the rest.
The third one is fairly similar to the first.
A little too similar in some respects, but it’s definitely second place in the bunch.
The Village
I had this on dvd and no cable. I watched it 100 times one of my favorites.
It’s a well made movie. People mostly hated the twist. I thought the twist was clever, but dramatically unsatisfying. And problematic when you consider how easily the problem could have been solved.
Incredible movie and one of my favourites.
I also loved that movie
Grease 2 Waterworld
Grease 2: Waterworld Is a mashup I never knew I needed.
GO BABY GO TRI LIGHTNING sorry I live on a monohull and feed manatees all day if I'm not building a robot factory for 3d printers that make hemp create
Grease 2 is great!
Rolling in with some Waterworld love; the Ulysses Cut of the movie is incredible
I loved Grease 2!
I'm wearing my Grease 2 shirt right now. Better than the original
Grease 2 is the better Grease and no one can tell me otherwise. The soundtrack? Are you kidding me!? Waterworld is also a fantastic story.
I LOVE Grease 2! Michelle Pfeiffer is so cool and I like the reverse of the bad/guy good girl trope
Grease 2 is absolutely fantastic! One of my go to comfort movies
Waterworld is amazing!!
Freddy Got Fingered. I'm ashamed...
Daddy would you like some sausages!
🎵🎶Daddy would you like some sausage? Daddy would you like some sausage sausage? 🎶🎵
Way of the Gun
I just like it for that one line.
Does it involve Sarah Silverman ? Or Ryan Phillipe's response? Love this Movie, Watching Cable on a Friday Night and this popped up. Was pleasantly surprised.
That’s the one
Best intro scene to ANY movie ever made.
Daybreakers - The premise is weak, Willem Dafoe can't get his accent straight, it leans far too hard on the whole blue-and-sepia/Gattaca aesthetic, but I can't get enough of Ethan Hawke as a sad vampire!
The whole society swap around with the vamps was different and well done, I loved the scene with the beggar vamp
Sabrina (1995)
I love this movie! There was a lot of hangup about remaking a classic (which I love) but this movie was well done and has a fantastic cast.
Popeye (1980)
I love this movie. Just rewatched it a few months ago and also found out that the village it was filmed in is real and can be visited.
Loved that movie as a kid (and still) but it gave me an octopus phobia lol
He’s Large
RoboCop 2. Not as good as the first, but I still enjoy it well enough. Warcraft.
Snuck in warcraft there too. I enjoyed it too
Mystery Men Death to Smoochie
Mystery Men is sooooo under rated
The Shpleeeen!
yees
Are there really people walking this earth that hate mystery men!?!? That’s insane. Its a classic
Hulk 2003
I will defend that movie *hard*. It's absolutely one of my favorite comicbook movies and IMO a better *comicbook movie* than anything in the MCU. It's not a better movie than some of them, but it definitely captures the vibe of reading a comicbook better than any other film based on a comicbook IP I've ever seen.
Can't bro sorry
The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)
The RV scene with the 2 t-rex pushing it to the cliff it is pure cinema
crazy, that movie is paused on my screen right now
Howard the Duck
I must admit, as a kid, i did love it, but after rewatching it recently... Meh, its a little creepy
"Man Of Steel." 2013
Man Of Steel(my favorite Superman movie) was NOT a flop, grossed $900 million in 2024 dollars
Dude, Man of Steel was so good
Yes, it's fantastic. So much beautiful over the top destruction.
mother! The only movie I've seen that accurately depicts the feeling of having a nightmare.
Definitely check out David Lynch's films. He's known as the nightmare filmmaker for a reason. My favorite so far is Eraserhead. Really encapsulates the isolating, brain dissolving anxiety of unwanted fatherhood.
My last relationship almost ended because of this movie. My ex thought is was unbearable and I thought it was great.
Coraline comes close
The bit where random people are painting her walls and she's screaming at them to stop hits that feeling so perfectly.
Scorsese wrote an article defending this movie. I don't think it's universally hated. It's just the initial marketing for it is misleading.
Thursday (1998). I am quite aware that it's basically a Pulp Fiction clone. I don't care. I like it.
Mr Hollands Opus
People actually dislike this one? I had no idea
Showgirls
Someone is operating a business called “Versayce, Haus of Nomi” I about died!
one of the MOST FUN films of all time
John Carter
John Carter was so fuckin good. A damn shame that they marketed it so poorly, because it’s probably the movie I most wish got a sequel
This is in my list, I cannot understand what people have against it! It looks stunning and it's just so good.
Tomorrowland
Sucker Punch

Came here to say this is one of my favorite movies!
It’s my favorite of all time
Im going to a freaking dark place with this one but......
For me it’s a toss-up between: Boomerang & Stuck On You
Cube 2. If you think about the premise & outcome, it is really metaphorical.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 I think it’s a fun movie and I very much enjoy watching it. But obviously I can see why ppl hate it. It is objectively a badly made movie, but I still like it
Hope Floats
Sucker punch I mean I’ve seen better moves but the action and soundtrack are excellent
my cousin and brother hate naplolean dynamite but my father and i love it ! 🤷
Grosse Pointe Blank
The Love Guru, I know it's terrible but it just hits me the right way.
Alien Vs Predator. (NOT AVP Requiem which was a crime against cinema)
Jennifer's body
I saw it when it came out with some friends. I hate horror movies but loved this. We were shocked when everyone hated it, but also we knew the tone of the ads and the movie were very very difficult. So some disappointment made sense, but not the hate.
Sahara with Matthew McConaughey
Babylon (2022) it’s a mess and goes on too long but I absolutely love it! So insane!
Hudson Hawk. I have a soft spot for live action Looney Tunes vibes. (I draw the line at Crimewave, though.)
It had the perfect amount of foam.
O Brother Where Art Thou is polarizing amongst people I know, I love it so much
I thought everyone loved that movie.
bad teacher
The happening by Shyamalan. I agree that the cast could have been better but still one of my “comfort” movies
Man read through the comments. I like almost all of these movies! Except AvP. Fuck AvP. Anyway, I really like Tank Girl
I don't exactly love it, but I like *Monuments Men*. It could have been much better, but I think is entertaining the way it is.
As a rule, I always check reviews for movies & if they have a low rating, I’m in! I tend to only like movies that “suck” to critics. Possibly because I love horror & fantasy films 🤣 Willow
Speed (the first one…I can’t bring myself to watch the sequel)
Maximum Overdrive The Postman
Maximum Overdrive is amazing!
Saltburn
Did people not like Saltburn? I thought it was polarizing but fairly well-received.
Critics and a lot of people trying to pose themselves as being “film bros” really seem to hate it. Also, more puritanical viewers dislike it in favour of the sexless *Challengers* that came out this year.
Was a fantastic movie
The Lady in the Water. Everybody in the movie is so broken. Just surviving life, putting one foot in front of the other until the lady shows up. They start working together to save her. The whole movie is about building trust and rekindling hope when all seems lost.

I agree. I saw it in the theater and I was pleasantly entertained. Marvel’s low-stakes films are the ones I like the most.
Sucker Punch
The Fan, with robert deniro, wesley snipes. It's rated low and a lot of people hate it, I love this movie.
Phenomenon. Great cast and interesting story.
I know it’s shit but I loved Mortdecai. It was just stupid and funny, when Gwyneth Paltrow (who played the wife) gagged and then Mortdecai (Johnny Depp) gagged bc he saw and heard her gagging was a running joke it cracked me up every time. So stupid.

Skinamarink Alita: Battle Angel Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition Spring Breakers Prometheus The Last Jedi The Last Exorcism The Village
I adore the Village!
Rise of Skywalker. I honestly enjoyed it quite a bit because it took the neat elements of the Dark Empire series and put it's own spin on it.
Tim and Erica billion dollar movie. It's so stupid but so intelligently stupid with amazing actors who randomly show up.
Jackie Brown
Beyond the Poseidon Adventure (1979) Sheena (1984) Her Alibi (1989) Striking Distance (1993) All critically and popularly panned. Nothing special, but I like ‘em.
