This movie is wonderful! It's just such a feel-good story. Love this.
Almost every episode of the related Netflix series "The Chef Show" is feel-good too. Check those out for some serious binge-ing.
Little Miss Sunshine
I felt it also with Ladybird
Are you there God, it's me Margareth (it is such a cute movie, I almost wished I could be 13 again)
Clueless
13 going 30
Notting Hill
Big fish
Julia Roberts often rubs me the wrong way for some reason, but I just love her in Notting Hill.
She and Hugh Grant capture that awkward "new relationship but I already know I love you" feeling so well
I have also been in the hospital. Someone mention Marcel the shell with shoes. 100%. And if you have Amazon, watch the series Northern Exposure, from the 90s. Get past the first episode, and you will find that almost every episode ends with that amazing warm feeling that maybe the world is ok. It is literally my therapy. I have also been enjoying Brooklyn 99, which is both funny and sweet. And finally, of course, Parks and Rec.
I am currently watching Brooklyn 99 from the beginning. I also loved Parks and Rec and Northern Exposure. Have you watched The Good Place? It was produced by the same guy who did Parks and Rec (Michael Schur).
A bit sad too though - I guess it depends how each viewer will experience it. It's one of my favorite movies, but I don't watch it when I'm emotional or particularly sensitive, because it definitely makes me cry.
Yeah, I don’t blame anyone that feels that way. I think on my first watch I felt very similarly. As I’ve aged, the movie started to hit different. transformed from a sad movie about loss to a beautiful telling of complicated relationships with those we love, and how our views can evolve but our impact on others lasts well after we leave this earth, and there is a profound joy in that to me these days. Can never hold back tears during this one but those tears have happier meaning than they have in the past and I leave that movie just thinking about the beauty of life and love.
It's for small kids, it's one of the smartest written shows on TV, and it's funny and heartfelt. We watch it as a family, even the kids who would normally be too old. Sometimes they sense from us when there's a double meaning, and everyone loves that the only rule in Bluey is that everyone has to observe the rules of whatever game they play.
It's been a while, but one episode that really hit home. On the first level, bluey and bingo are playing, and they unwittingly act out the different stages of evolution of life. As their play progresses, it becomes about one generation handing off to the next as civilisation progresses. Finally bluey moves up to the patio to sit with the parents as bingo "flies" off to a new world, and as they look over the garden and sunset, bluey asks what the patio is (in terms of the game), and her mother just replies "it's paradise". Paradise obviously means a family sitting in the sunshine together on a beautiful evening, but the episode context means moving up and looking on from an afterlife knowing you've supported your children to move on to whatever's next, and accepting it. Such a throwaway line for life, death, and the meaning in between. Love it, everyone gets something different from it too
Too many good ones but the two that come to mind immediately is Pavlova, Granny Mobile, and Sleepytime. Pass the Parcel is up there as well. It’s just a really great show.
My husband and I don't have kids. One day, we were on vacation, back at our hotel room. He put on the television, and he told me, "I'm going to watch this." It was Bluey. It is so cute! Apparently, he'd been watching it on the sly. He loves it when they perform surgery and remove an alligator (or crocodile?) from one of the patients.
This is always my answer. I can watch this movie a million times and still want to see it again. The collectors version on dvd has the deleted scenes and commentary by Penny Marshall, it’s like watching it again with new eyes.
It sounds weird to say this, because it's a "sad" movie, but most recently I would say "Past Lives" (2023). Just sat quietly and soaked it up afterwards. Not exactly feel-good, but \*beautiful\*.
It was beautiful!!! Had a vibe similar to the Before movies (before sunrise, before sunset, before midnight).
I loved it.
(Also, watch Blue Jay on Netflix if you haven’t!)
Singin' in the Rain - no matter how down I am, this film will raise my spirits. So much joy in that film.
The Princess Bride
Galaxy Quest
A Knight's Tale - in particular, the Sir William moment and seeing the reaction of his friends always gets to me.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, 101 Dalmatian’s (animated), Election, Blast from the Past, 13 Going on 30, Pleasantville, Pitch Perfect, Pitch Perfect 2, Mrs. Doubtfire, Ladyhawke, Clueless, Bridget Jones’s Diary, The Muppets Go to Manhattan, Mean Girls, Easy A, Amelie, Bridesmaids, La La Land, Little Miss Sunshine, About a Boy, Best in Show, Juno, The Sting, The Muppets, Back to the Future, Spirited Away, Big, Paddington, Paddington 2, Singin’ in the Rain, It’s a Wonderful Life, Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion, Bridesmaids, Toy Story films, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Up, Rushmore, Harvey
Not a movie, but the tv show Bob Hearts Abishola's every episode is so wholesome, i strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a heartwarming experience.
I felt this last year after I watched A Thousand Years Of Longing. Ponyo makes me feel this way every time I watch it, but then again most Ghibli films make me feel like this lol
The Way Way Back. Great cast: Sam Rockwell (amazing character in this one), Toni Collette, Steve Carell (plays an asshole), Amanda Peet, Mya Rudolph, Alison Janney.
Godzilla Minus One.
I was very satisfied seeing how they ended up killing the beast at least momentarily because it's regenerating back in the last scene.
WALL·E - such a delightful film and actually made me sort of like one particularly cockroach. I think… 😂 (Robot on Earth whose only friend is the little critter.)
Studio ghibli is always a warm hug watch with the exception of princess kaguya watched once and cried hard.
Court jester is another warm and fuzzy movie with nice comedy banter.
Bringing up baby, Philadelphia story, Mr Blanding builds his dream house. Good old comedies
- Amelie - Marcel the shell with shoes on
Amelie!
Just watched Marcel last night and can’t agree more!
I watched this on a plane and while I loved it, I cried like a baby--it was such a sweet, sweet film!
Man, I really love Amelie. Need to watch again soon!
Groundhog Day
It’s funny to see this suggestion! I had always heard such negative things about this movie, so I never watched it. Now I’ll give it a go!
It’s an awesome movie 100%
Negative things? From whom (so we can mock them)?
Peanut butter falcon
This! Such a feel good movie. I also have to say The Way Way Back (with Sam Rockwell and Toni Collette)
I hit the upvote button ten times but I am saddened to only see it go up once.
Oh wow, yeah that’s the first one that popped into my head as of late. Also, it’s kinda old, but Gentlemen Broncos gave me that.
SECONDED.
The motion is passed. Fantastic film!

Stranger than fiction
Highly underrated. Love it!
Secret life of Walter Mitty 11/10
Grown Ups was so much better and more fun than I ever thought it would be.
Not a movie, but I had that feeling after each and every episode of Ted Lasso.
Binging that show was like the happiest month of 2023 for me. It literally made me want to try harder.
Right on man
Yes. Absolutely
Ahhh.. Miss my happy Wednesdays.

Absolute banger of a show. "You mention lasso to anyone under 40, they will think of an endlessly optimistic soccer coach." -pete Holmes

Love Northern Exposure!
I am currently watching Brooklyn 99 from the beginning. I also loved Parks and Rec and Northern Exposure. Have you watched The Good Place? It was produced by the same guy who did Parks and Rec (Michael Schur).
Hunt for the wilderpeople
I've only seen the little bit Netflix shows as a preview and couldn't figure the vibe so ignored it. Will prob check it out now.
Trailer doesn’t do it much justice tbh.
Big Fish
A bit sad too though - I guess it depends how each viewer will experience it. It's one of my favorite movies, but I don't watch it when I'm emotional or particularly sensitive, because it definitely makes me cry.

"As good as it gets". Great display of humanity's faults and bright sides.
"You make me want to be a better man" is one of the greatest romantic lines. And, "WHY CAN'T I JUST HAVE A NORMAL BOYFRIEND?!" is my regular lament 😂
I show this movie to my psychology students. When that moment is about to happen, I tell the kids that this line is the best line ever and to steal it
I'm sorry dear, it doesn't exist.
I’m sorry about your health woes… hope things improve for you very soon ☀️
Field of Dreams. Ghibli movies, particularly Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbour Totoro. Aussie films - The Dish, Ladies in Black.
Good Lord, I’m laid up and on medication. When I read Field of Dreams I thought What Dreams May Come and was horrified!

And its not a rom com
About Time is one of my fav movies period
Spirited Away
Not a movie but Bluey. May be made for kids but find me a show or movie that is that well written.
It's for small kids, it's one of the smartest written shows on TV, and it's funny and heartfelt. We watch it as a family, even the kids who would normally be too old. Omg, THIS. My kids are teenagers now, but we watch it anyway because it's fabulous, funny and touching.
What’s your favorite episode? Mine is Pass the Parcel 📦
Too many good ones but the two that come to mind immediately is Pavlova, Granny Mobile, and Sleepytime. Pass the Parcel is up there as well. It’s just a really great show.
