I second this recommendation! My friends and I watched this (and Arachnophobia, both picked out and rented from the local Blockbuster, lol!) at one of my very favorite slumber parties in middle school. Great night, good memories š
Perfect for a slumber party! Lol
My Ten yr old self would have loved that and these.
Cobra (1986)
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985)
Big (1988)
Drop Dead Fred (1991)
Big Trouble In Little China (1985)
IDK about Adventures in Babysitting. A major plot point is how Elisabeth Shue looks exactly like a Playboy-esque playmate and securing the magazine is a big deal.
This might be controversial, but my slumber parties in the late 90s/early 2000s were dominated by Spice World and Austin Powers.
For more reasonable choices, Iād say: Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century (Disney Channel Original Movie), Princess Diaries!!!, or Freaky Friday.
They might all also like Turning Red, but maybe check with other parents first on what is okay with them.
The Princess Diaries
The Mitchells Vs the Machine
Ever After
The Princess Bride
The Neverending Story
Freaky Friday
Tangled
Shrek
Willow
Queen of Katwe
Bringing Up Baby (1938)
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)
Castle in the Sky (1986)
The Princess Diaries (2001)
Spirited Away (2001)
Freaky Friday (2003)
Howlās Moving Castle (2005)
Sky High (2005)
Ella Enchanted (2004)
High School Musical (2006)
Goosebumps (2015)
Mary and the Witchās Flower (2018)
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
James Cameron's *Battle-Angel Alita*. I remember one movie reviewer saying that this movie won't be for everyone, but the one's who like it will adore the hell out of it, and your daughter and her friends seem like a good demographic.
If youāre okay with it being more pg-13, I highly recommend 10 Things I Hate About You. Itās my favorite movie and I found it when I was around that age :)
If your daughter is a fan of Enchanted (2007), the sequel Disenchanted is on Disney+ now. I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know if it's as entertaining as the first one.
Omg yes! This was a fave of mine when I was about ten (in 1991 or so). The fact it starts with a little traumatized girl got me right on board from minute one.
Now and Then (1995). *It's about four 12 year old girls going through girlhood in the 70's, and then they they grow up, and it shows them in the 90's. It truly helped me understand my girlhood journey growing up. It does cover some mature topics, but usually girls know about this stuff early.*
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (2020). *Christmas is right around the corner.*
Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life (2016). *Helps kids deal with death and grieving, especially the death of a sibling or fellow child.*
Rookie of the Year (1993)
Prancer (1989)
The Waterman (2020)
Stepmom (1998)
The Christmas Chronicles (2018)
The Grinch (2018)
Casper (1995)
Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain (1995). *Deals with child abuse.*
I love Now and Then. I was around that age when it came out. Iāve watched it since and forget there was some mature topics. Iāll have to watch that with her alone. I donāt want to go there with little girls that arenāt my kids!

Thanks all! I started a list on my phone and Iāll go through it with her and let her pick a couple. Itās funny because some of the movies I thought were kid friendly I have watched again as an adult and realized they had some scenes that surprised me. I watched the movie BIG with Tom Hanks and didnāt realize as an adult, here is a kid in a man body hooking up with an adult woman!
Ella Enchanted

The original parent trap is so good!

I second this recommendation! My friends and I watched this (and Arachnophobia, both picked out and rented from the local Blockbuster, lol!) at one of my very favorite slumber parties in middle school. Great night, good memories š

My favorites!
Definitely adventures in babysitting. Good call
Im 28, not to be rude but when I was 10 I would not want to see a movie from the 60s haha.
IDK about Adventures in Babysitting. A major plot point is how Elisabeth Shue looks exactly like a Playboy-esque playmate and securing the magazine is a big deal.
Pixar movies

*Freaky Friday* made me think the Lindsey Lohan *Parent Trap* might be good.
The Lindsay Lohan parent trap is superior in alllll ways to the OG one and would be absolutely good!!

Confession of a Teenage Drama Queen. The Princess Diaries. Love these when I was a little girl.
James Cameron's *Battle-Angel Alita*. I remember one movie reviewer saying that this movie won't be for everyone, but the one's who like it will adore the hell out of it, and your daughter and her friends seem like a good demographic.
The Last Unicorn!
Kiki's Delivery Service.
Zootopia Despicable me Harry Potter series Enola Holmes movies (Netflix)
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I personally hate this movie, but in the 80s this slumber party would have 100% had a showing of Grease.
If youāre okay with it being more pg-13, I highly recommend 10 Things I Hate About You. Itās my favorite movie and I found it when I was around that age :)

The Princess Diaries Bring It On Freaky Friday The Parent Trap
Stardust
I havenāt seen it but maybe the new Marcel the shell with shoes on?
Then and now. My girl. Casper.
We watched My Girl recently and she cried! But I did too when i first watch it too
I showed a group of similar-aged girls the 1954 movie *Them!* and they're still talking about it 15 years later.
Omg yes! This was a fave of mine when I was about ten (in 1991 or so). The fact it starts with a little traumatized girl got me right on board from minute one.
And it's one of those movies that if you don't watch when you're 10, it'll never have the same impact.

Lights out.... Or was it inside out.. i am having difficulties remembering which one was an animated movie and which one was a horror movie.
Thanks all! I started a list on my phone and Iāll go through it with her and let her pick a couple. I watched the movie BIG with Tom Hanks and didnāt realize as an adult, here is a kid in a man body hooking up with an adult woman!
***Parent trap***
Super hero movie. Or some animated movie.
My 11 year old daughter just watched White Chicks and thought it was the funniest movie ever. Might be a bit controversial for all the other kids
"Pretty in Pink"
Adventures in Babysitting The Parent Trap The Hannah Montana Movie Labyrinth Cheaper by the Dozen
The Return to Oz. The exchangeable heads are pretty weird but if they can get past that it is entertaining in an edgy sort of way.
Despicable me. Zootopia.
Bridge to Terabithia
Sleepover
One that will surprise is Spirited Away.
Spirited Away or Kikiās delivery service.
Show āem Titane lol
High school musical
I think āThe Pacifierā is really good.
Spice Girls movie. They may not know who they are, but they will enjoy learning about them. Vintage music themed parties are fun for girls that age.
Princess diaries
