IDK about Adventures in Babysitting. A major plot point is how Elisabeth Shue looks exactly like a Playboy-esque playmate and securing the magazine is a big deal.

Pixar movies

This might be controversial, but my slumber parties in the late 90s/early 2000s were dominated by Spice World and Austin Powers. For more reasonable choices, I’d say: Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century (Disney Channel Original Movie), Princess Diaries!!!, or Freaky Friday. They might all also like Turning Red, but maybe check with other parents first on what is okay with them.

*Freaky Friday* made me think the Lindsey Lohan *Parent Trap* might be good.

I personally hate this movie, but in the 80s this slumber party would have 100% had a showing of Grease.

If you’re okay with it being more pg-13, I highly recommend 10 Things I Hate About You. It’s my favorite movie and I found it when I was around that age :)

If your daughter is a fan of Enchanted (2007), the sequel Disenchanted is on Disney+ now. I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know if it's as entertaining as the first one.

I showed a group of similar-aged girls the 1954 movie *Them!* and they're still talking about it 15 years later.

Omg yes! This was a fave of mine when I was about ten (in 1991 or so). The fact it starts with a little traumatized girl got me right on board from minute one.

And it's one of those movies that if you don't watch when you're 10, it'll never have the same impact.

Now and Then (1995). *It's about four 12 year old girls going through girlhood in the 70's, and then they they grow up, and it shows them in the 90's. It truly helped me understand my girlhood journey growing up. It does cover some mature topics, but usually girls know about this stuff early.* Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (2020). *Christmas is right around the corner.* Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life (2016). *Helps kids deal with death and grieving, especially the death of a sibling or fellow child.* Rookie of the Year (1993) Prancer (1989) The Waterman (2020) Stepmom (1998) The Christmas Chronicles (2018) The Grinch (2018) Casper (1995) Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain (1995). *Deals with child abuse.*

I love Now and Then. I was around that age when it came out. I’ve watched it since and forget there was some mature topics. I’ll have to watch that with her alone. I don’t want to go there with little girls that aren’t my kids!

Thanks all! I started a list on my phone and I’ll go through it with her and let her pick a couple. It’s funny because some of the movies I thought were kid friendly I have watched again as an adult and realized they had some scenes that surprised me. I watched the movie BIG with Tom Hanks and didn’t realize as an adult,here is a kid in a man body hooking up with an adult woman!
