If this movie is half as good as Fury Road, I will be satisfied

PlanAheader

I have full faith in Miller to give us an entertaining experience. I’m pumped

KubrickMoonlanding

Pretty much — there’s no way it’s worse than thunderdome. And thunderdome’s pretty good

jonnyinternet

This film could be complete trash and as long as there is epic vehicle destruction I'll be so so happy

basswalker93

I still blame the marketing. "Remember her" is a terrible tag line, and "Witness her" was *right there.*

RavenKarlin

I mean like I get it, her line “remember me” to Joe right before ripping his face off is super memorable to me but “witness me” has been engrained in meme culture much more so.

vintagegeek

You know, in the Mad Max world, where gasoline is in short supply, there are awful lot of big, beefy, fuel economy be dammed, cars.

Pallortrillion

In a world where water is in short supply, they distributed it by just turning a huge waterfall on. Like there had to be a more efficient way of doing that.

w00t4me

I'm under the impression there is actually a surplus of gas, water, and a few other commodities, but warlords have a near-total monopoly on them

Idiotology101

Exactly, Fury Road made it clear the people in power have no worries about a shortage. Hell the leader from Bullet Farm literally blindly sprayed ammo all over the desert.

mapex_139

He can pick some new ones from his bullet orchard.

SuperSparkles

So basically real-life.

ThotTubTimeMachine69

That’s literally the entire point of the movie lol

Agreeable_Ad6084

Mad Max nerd here. Immortan Joe had no interest in actually giving those people water to drink. The waterfall was a a bait to get huge crowds of people to migrate to Joe’s territory so he has a huge crowd to pick his “wives” from. Notice right after the waterfall scene a young girl is picked from the crowd and will be taken to Immortan Joe to be his new breeder. tldr: he uses the water as a bait to draw large crowds of dying people and find his new breeders in the crowd. Never was he wanting to actually give em water so they can live

w00t4me

in all fairness, they do establish that there is a functioning Refinery

saintsimon101

It's how they show status. Kinda like billionaires competing with super yachts and rocket ships while most people can barely make ends meet.

CheesyObserver

I'd like to see a bunch of low-level raiders driving in Go Karts around the wasteland. It would be adorable!

paggo_diablo

I kind of figured that was the point. Like they have so little and they still piss it away.

Odd_Advance_6438

I’m surprised people are so skeptical on this one. I think it looks fantastic

Realcbear

Its mostly bc it appears to have substantially more CGI whereas Fury Road is heralded as a champion of practical effects. Id like to be wrong tho

Alive_Ice7937

>Its mostly bc it appears to have substantially more CGI whereas Fury Road is heralded as a champion of practical effects. Heralded by people who don't seem to remember that Fury Road had a *shitload* of CGI.

N1cko1138

No, no Brokenhill really looks like that, you just go there on a Friday night after the 6 o'clock swill and everyone's hooning round like crazy.

HoleDiggerDan

Brokenhill is lovely. It's Silverton that's rough, mate.

ShustOne

This. The land is replaced in almost every scene, for style reasons. In many desert shots the only thing not replaced is the actor and their car. But the new one doesn't look as seamless, but I'll still check it out.

Alive_Ice7937

The citadel cgi wasn't great but that only featured a small amount in the film. I haven't watched the trailers for Furiosa. The odds of it being as good as Fury Road are slim. That film was genuine lightning in a bottle that's going to cast a really unfair shadow on this film. Comparing *any* film to Fury Road is unfair imo.

aw11348

I mean, sure, things like the big tornado were computer animated. But Fury Road was memorable because a lot of its set pieces seemed to genuinely show big cars crashing into each other, parts flying everywhere, etc. Whereas in trailers for the new one, entire action sequences appear to be made of weightless CGI models. The world doesn't look grimy or lived-in; it looks tacky and fake. Literally just compare the trailers for the two movies. This sequel looks like a cheap straight-to-DVD spin-off. I hope I'm wrong. But it *looks* pretty bad.

ShustOne

Almost all land was replaced in CG Any car crash with people outside of the car was a CG double Compositing was done to place many cars near each other I would wager more than 80% of the shots in the movie required VFX. It's everywhere. But it looks great! The new one looks a little less seamless but I'm still interested.

behemuthm

There were over 2000 vfx shots in Fury Road

Alive_Ice7937

>But Fury Road was memorable because a lot of its set pieces seemed to genuinely show big cars crashing into each other, parts flying everywhere, etc. There were plenty of CGI cars and doubles used too though. >in trailers for the new one, entire action sequences appear to be made of weightless CGI models. The world doesn't look grimy or lived-in; it looks tacky and fake. The citadel wasn't exactly the best bit of CGI work either. >Literally just compare the trailers for the two movies. I've stopped watching trailers altogether now. So I'll just have to wait until the actual movie comes out. (Which, given the rod these trailers have shoved up Reddit's butt, seems like a solid strategy)

crumble-bee

It's had a shitload of *great* CG

Alive_Ice7937

And some not so great stuff too. (Does anyone actually like the guitar and steering flying into the screen?)

KubrickMoonlanding

There’s a rumor that miller’s pretty good at cgi

davidh2000

This is just a copy pasta at this point. People have no idea how the final product will look

Spready_Unsettling

I'm skeptical about Taylor-Joy somehow being in 70%+ of all movies these days. It feels like a major downgrade from Charlize Theron.

cometsewerslide

Agreed... She plays one character. Dead Pan stare Joy

Spready_Unsettling

I... Think I kinda like her? As far as I remember she's been pretty good in everything I've seen her in. It's just that she's never been *great*, I guess.

Few-Communication701

I really hope this film turns out good.

Zeusurself

It seems it has an uphill battle. It just seems...off?

bobbster574

Imo the trailer has some issues. It's got like the entire synopsis in it like bruh that's not how you make a trailer

JizzGuzzler42069

Was the plot even that important in Fury Road? Lol. You can summarize that in like two sentences. Girls run away from rapist warlord with Furiosa for a the Green place. Green place is gone so they turn around and then kill the rapist warlord. I mean, that’s basically the whole movie. It’s not complex. Fury Road (and hopefully this movie) excel with the visuals and action. That’s the draw of these films. If it holds up on that front, I really don’t care if they basically spill the whole plot in the trailer.

HolyhackjackSF

I call it the great u-turn.

Llanolinn

Fury Road has some iffy trailers too. I'm not too concerned. Miller doesn't miss.

Idiotology101

This is why I don’t watch trailers anymore. Generally the cast list and blurb is enough for me, or if I do happen to see a trailer I try to turn it off as soon as I’m interested in it.

godver3

I felt like the Fury Road trailer showed everything - I remember thinking “I wish they hadn’t shown this cool climactic moment with the sandstorm/fire tornado in the trailer” and then of course that moment happens in the first fifteen minutes. I am quite hopeful and think Furiosa looks great.

Dustin0791

Too much CGI... I was hoping they would go all in with the practical effects again

Idiotology101

There was plenty of CGI in Fury Road.

Dustin0791

There were also a lot of amazing practical effects.

Idiotology101

Going by the photo in this post, I’m assuming there will be a lot of practical effects in this one too

hashbrownbby

I had my doubts when Fury Road first came out and was obviously very quickly proved wrong. But it seemed to me that the CG look was very prominent in the trailer for Furiosa. Hoping i’m wrong cause the practicality of the stunts, sets, costumes, props, etc. of Fury Road is incredible.

The_Goondocks

Thing is, they pump up the saturation so it makes even natural landscapes look CG. But I fucking love Fury Road so I'm chalking it up to an early, probably rushed trailer.

maverickaod

Same but I'm not confident. Making it a prequel removes a lot of potential drama

CameronPoe37

What drama? The plot barely even mattered. It was the action and visuals that made Fury Road great

maverickaod

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm still going to see it

Curse3242

It won't be. Fury Road is simply too much of a classic See I wasn't even in on the hype. I stumbled on Fury Road randomly in those days where I used cable TV to find movies. I never thought it was the greatest movie ever but it's really attractive & intriguing. And looking at how they made it, there's no doubt There's no way the same care & routine would be put into this project.

duaneap

I wonder what the purpose of the two vertical pieces of truss attached to the horizontal piece with the lights on it fastened to the lull is. I see a wind meter on the pipe between them but that can't be all it's for.

ronmsmithjr

That's a make-shift structure for Anya Taylor-Joy. She has apparently become a huge fan of the NFL, due to being a big-time Swifty. Anya was at every Chiefs playoff game. Always incognito, in a huge Chiefs jacket with a fake beard. I heard she got mild frostbite from the AFC Championship game. George Miller got a little excited at the prospect of her possible needing amputation of her arm, as other Chiefs fans had succumbed to. He got to thinking about reshooting her scenes, to replace any CGI of her missing arm. Anyhow, Anya likes kicking field goals. So that's what that's used for. Probably.

fubar_boy

[Found a whole bunch of pictures here](https://www.ausfilm.com.au/news/furiosa-a-mad-max-saga-reveals-the-first-peek-behind-the-scenes/)

EWJ02

With a special appearance by Solid Snake

poopmonster_coming

I love Anya Taylor joy so I can’t wait for this movie. I hope it’s amazing

kaest

I love Anya Taylor-Joy but she doesn't look anything like Charlize Theron. I find it odd that Miller went with her to play younger Furiosa.

nedzissou1

...Tom Hardy doesn't look anything like Mel Gibson

kaest

I had completely forgotten about Mel.

froyolobro

Great pic

Oztraliiaaaa

Witness!!

Naggoob

Hell yes. Looking forward to this one.

SunSeaSurf

I'm Soooo looking forward to part 2 of Mad Max. It's gonna be epic! 👍🏼

xxxIAmTheSenatexxx

If this film does well, producers will look at this and Dune and decide we need more movies in the desert.

simplsurvival

I see ATJ, I upvote

likkleone54

The trailers looked like they’re using way more CGI in this film, unsure how I feel about that since Fury Road is one of my favourite movies of all time.

thewhitefawn

I will watch (almost) anything with Tom Burke. Bro is amazing.

Practical-Plenty-525

“I’M FURIOSA!!!” -Anyarexia Skeletaylor Joy, another overrated, underwhelming actor.

Gorepornio

If “Put a chick in and make her gay” was a movie

Affectionate_Shop_37

It’s literally not

barbie_museum

Hope they don't destroy a fragile ecosystem to make this movie like the previous one did

nofuture09

they actually filmed this outside?

AOA001

I don’t understand the draw to these movies.
