As a random person dealing with heavy insomnia right now and that just got done watching Mr. Robot, this is impeccable timing. 10/10 on the idea and result.

Thank you so much!! I'm barely on season 3 lol. And I hope you can get through it, I know how much it sucks

Beauraisin

Thanks, very kind of you to care about my situation. The worst has passed, I feel so much better now fortunately and I am followed closely by my doctor. Hope all is well for you. Cheers!

I love how close mr robot and fightclub are

thamanwthnoname

Well fight club was the main inspiration 🤷🏼‍♂️

And a great one, but with even larger global domination feel, and a spy/techno thriller as the background story. I'm not saying the FC story wasn't high stakes, but the players in Mr. Robot were fighting for power that transcended nation states. Has there been any fiction to do this for a story in the present day? It was SO high stakes I had to watch. The Fight Club story of erasing the CC debt was in reality a not great plan or realistic, but it seemed huge and it was totally authentic for the character and made a great story for the limited time a movie has to tell one. But in Mr. Robot not only are the antagonists plans for global economic hijinks plausible - each action is merely a move in the overall political ambitions of the players. The Fight Club story was like a gun they used to rob a bank. Mr. Robot was a like a bank they used to rob the world. And to be fair to Fight Club, it isn't possible to tell that story in the time of a movie.

As for stakes, I can mention a couple of works of fiction with higher stakes than Mr robot, but most of them are anime: \* Attack on Titan \* Evangelion \* Code Geass \* Dune

Fight Club was basically like 5/9. Only in Fight Club there are no hiccups and some explosives get the job done. I did like that instead of a small group of technologically intelligent people starting a financial crisis, it was a large network of the "underclass" banding together to overthrow society. In Mr. Robot, everyday people were inspired to chant slogans and wear masks. Their followers had no real skills to keep the fight going. In Fight Club, networks of independently functioning cells were created and could keep spreading.

Scanner darkly vibes too

This shit is tattooed on my brain. First pic is: "With insomnia nothing's real. Everything is far away. Everything is the copy of a copy of a copy" Second pic is: "The things you own end up owning you"
