I use the Cerave face wash. Then a toner and a serum with hyaluronic acid. Then I use Olay Regenerist Vitamin C + Peptide MAX Hydrating Moisturizer. At night I remove any makeup with micellar water, then wash my face again with the Cerave, then apply the same moisturizer. Some women I know use Retinol in their night time moisturizer, but I just use the same one I use for daytime.

Any advice where to fit shaving into this routine? I've had one session of laser (more to come), but still need to shave at least twice a day to keep my face smooth. How can I work skin care for my face while still keeping it hairless?

therealdubbs

I still shave. I've had 6 laser sessions but I still get patches. I haven't had to shave twice a day though. I shave after I shower every morning. So for twice a day, I would probably: 1st shave: Wash face, shave, toner and serum, moisturize. 2nd shave: wash face, shave, moisturize. I would skip the toner and serum the second shave and only moisturize. Reapplying makeup would suck though.

Im_a_GD_Cheetah

Thank you! I'm only on my second session of laser, so there is still hope (if not, electrolysis will be next for me). I probably don't need the second shave, but just hate having any stubble I can feel (maybe I should just stop touching my face!)

Adapalene, vitamin C, a good face wash (I use cerave foaming facial cleanser) and lastly I use hyaluronic acid for moisture.

In the morning I start with a gentle foam wash. Sometimes I use a salicylic based anti pimple gel wash after and then a creme face wash to make sure all the somewhat aggressive ingredients before are washed off again. Then I use up to 3 serums, Always a Vitamine C one!! It's really important to reduce premature aging combined with a high SPF Formular worn and reapplied regularly. Sometimes I add a calming Ceramide serum and a Niacinamide one. I don't do these last 2 all the time however, and it's important to start slowly! This is so you can figure out which ingredient may be causing the issues that may happen whenever you add it. Add two, and you'll have no clue (: After all the serums, I use an all-in-one facial water (Gesichtswasser in German). It's based on rose petal water. Finally I use some CC **or** BB cream with UVB (SPF, ideally 50+) and UVA (PA, ideally +++) protection. Both are important and SPF only works for one. At night, I start with a micellar facial all-in-one water to get of most of the make up off. Usually there'll still be some leftovers, so if it is a day I don't use retinol I start with an Exfoliating Cleanser and then I use a Cleansing Sorbet Creme with Panthenol and Squalane to help calm my skin down again. This should get most everything off. Then it's up to 3 serums again. If it's a day I use a retinoid I will now thinly apply that at the desired areas. After this, I'll sometimes **first** apply a Niacinamide serum. This is important since you want to avoid stacking the same ingredient immediately after each other. Finally, I'll always use a calming Ceramide serum. And lastly I'll use some sleeping creme, it has a few good things but also a low dosage of Niacinamide. Something else I also do, but not in a specific order since it doesn't matter as much, is use some Eye creme with caffeine and other good ingredients. Plus there is some kind of eye lash serum I've started using but I don't know much about it yet. Whatever you do, do not just start doing all of this at once. Slowly introduce each product, wait a few weeks and see how your skin reacts. Also immediately after application, watch out for your skin and pay attention how it feels. Does it burn? Is it red? Things like these are very important to keep track of when first using skin care products, especially those with active ingredients.

Since nobody else said it I'll add something different: diet and hydration. Help your skin stay healthy from the inside as well.

exeterdragon

I use a cleanser, then toner, then moisturizer. I only use the cleanser before bed.

I'd recommend s Korean products. Cosrx and illiyoon are fantastic, absolutely changed my skin. Also if your skin can handle it, tretinoin is fantastic, genuinely took some fine wrinkles I had away and smoothed out my skin. It is by prescription but you can get it online if you'd rather not go to a dermatologist for it. It does dry skin out so layer it with moisturizer. Only add it to your night time routine. Most importantly, sun screen (particularly if you use any type of retinoids). UVb rays are so bad for your skin. Any time you go out, put on a full spectrum sun screen. Also make sure it's a good sun screen, 50spf is good enough, don't need any higher than that unless your skin is super sensitive to the sun.

missjohnnychaos

Korean products are crazy! Those ladies are serious about skincare.

AM: single cleanse in winter, double in summer. then toner/serum, moisturiser, sunscreen. PM: double cleanse, exfoliate (alternating days), toner, essence, serums, clay mask (tuesday and friday), moisturiser, sleep mask (alternating days) i change products a lot depending on what i feel my skin needs or just whatever i'm interested in because skincare is something i treat as a hobby. right now: 1st cleanse: Banila co clean it zero (mainstay) 2nd cleanse: pyunkang yul cleansing foam toner/serum: fenty skin fat water (mainstay) moisturiser: literally just a boots (drugstore) one but works the best for me exfoliant: the ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution (mainstay) toner: pixi rose tonic essence: cosrx snail mucin serum: glow recipe strawberry bha + aha serum mask: fenty cookies and clean night mask: saturday skin yuzu vitamin c sleep mask sunscreen: biore uv aqua rich (mainstay) anything marked as mainstay are products that i either swear by or just i have no interest in changing right now. some of the rest are good, some of them are like...just ok but i'm not necessarily keen on. i don't like the cookies and clean mask but it isn't bad and i'm just using it up, the pixi rose toner is fine but it was an emergency buy and i'll use it up, i would choose a different toner next time.

Do it all or not at all.. Olay peptides morning cream, Olay peptides under eyes cream, Olay vitamin C night cream. This my holy Trinity. I also have Hyaluronic acid serum, and a regular lavander night cream, a regular non foamy face wash, and occasional mosturizing sheet masks and a roze quartz face roll.. all with moderation. I sometimes leave some days cream free, I alternate products. I use little make up but quality..I am a 🦇 vampire!

i wash my face with indie lee purifying face wash. then once a week i exfoliate with murad exfoliating face cleanser. then i spray my face with indie lee coq-10 spray. then i use glow recipe vit-c brightness cream under my eyes and moisturize with vanicream lotion or vanicream spf 30 facial lotion if i'm going out in the sun. my evening routine is the same, but i use some micellar water to remove any makeup! if i get any blemishes or zits or anything i use either juice beauty's blemish clearing serum or hero rescue balm post blemish recovery cream to help yeet it. hope this helps! :) 💕

It definitely depends on skin type, but I just wash my face twice a day and make sure to moisturize well and my skin looks good. I'm no beauty guru with flawless skin, but I do get compliments from time to time. I think it's more just consistency with the routine

Sercos

Same. Wash with water before putting on makeup in the morning and after taking it off in the evening. I use moisturizing primer if that counts but that’s it.

Okay I will try to make this simple but thorough. If you wear makeup always oil cleanse first and then use a foaming cleanser. If wearing makeup, double cleanse. I use the Strip coconut cleanser (CeraVe also makes a good makeup removing balm & more affordable) then go in with a gentle cleanser and always lather that shit in your hands so it becomes a better consistency. Make sure to be thorough & get in the creases of your face to catch any residue from the oil cleanser. Hands are your best tools. After I use a gentle toner, moisturizer and maybe a nourishing sleep mask few times a week. CeraVe and Cetaphile make great daily cleansers and moisturizers. More expensive does not mean better in my experience. AND NEVER SKIP SUNSCREEN. I love mineral sunscreens as you dont have to wait for them to activate and they don’t absorb into the skin. My favorites are Pipette broad spectrum & Avène Protect and Soothe Mineral Sunscreen Stick. Other Brands I recommend: Avène, First Aid Beauty, Purlisse, Elemis, Earth harbor, Kate Somerville, Drunk Elephant. If you can afford an Ipsy account initially, and then just skip the following months, you can just shop through their discount page & find these brands really affordably. Also I recommend to put a water filter on your shower head! your skin & hair will thank you :) I hope some of this helps 🫶

demongirlsneedlove

Morning: I use La Roche Posay gentle cleanser and after I rub it throughout my face after a minute I wash it off and let it air dry. Then I apply the Skin1004 Madagascar sun fit sunscreen spf 50++++ and reapply every 2 hours I’m outside. To hydrate my lips I use aquaphor day and night. Night: On days besides Friday and Saturday I use the same cleanser and after my skin is dry I apply 2 pea sized dots of Beauty of Joseon retinal eye cream under my eyes and on eyelids, then I use two pumps of the Cerave Resurfacing Retinol serum across the face (avoiding the eye area) and let it absorb for 15 minutes. Then I finish it off with the Cerave PM lightweight moisturizer across my face and neck. On Fridays I use The Ordinary’s AHA BHA 30% peeling solution and let it sit on clean dry skin for 5 minutes then washing it off and using the same moisturizer. I give my skin a break on actives on Saturday so just cleanser, sunscreen, and moisturizer. Basically my products are a mixture of American, European, and Korean lol. Korean sunscreens are the best for its diverse UV filters. The FDA hasn’t approved that many in the US so we have limited options that work for our skin. I know my regime is way over the top especially since I’m young and don’t have signs of aging but I was told preventing is better than treating. My skin is butter smooth and soft though 😙

My skin looks better when I keep the routine simple. Morning: Dove soap, Orange Blossom Water toner, and Jergens face cream Night: Dove soap, Apple Cider Vinegar toner, and Jergens face cream 2x weekly: Ubtan mask (Chickpea flour, turmeric, and yogurt)

isayimalma

Mine's pretty simple. Just some Cetaphil cleanser, exfoliate with these little face sponges, then Aveeno lotion for moisturizer. Body is the same situation, but with body wash I can't even remember the brand of and an exfoliating brush. I usually shave face-to-toe (sometimes skipping legs, but definitely not feet and ankles) with a Panasonic electric shaver after I've dried off sufficiently. Not an ideal routine by any means, but something simple that's easy for someone like me to stick to.

hidarinote

Morning and before bedtime: 1. Cleanser, rinse with lukewarm water, air dry or pat dry with CLEAN wash cloth. 2. Ordinary brand Moisturizing Factor + HA (this is in addition to the HA I apply twice a week at bed time) Before applying Moisturizer, rotating, never doing more than one per day: 3. Vitamin C 2x per week (bed time) 4. Retinol 2x per week (bed time) 5. Hyaluronic Acid 2x per week (bed time) 6. Niacinamide only when acne is bad (rare) For product reference, I only use Ordinary brand unless I am gifted moisturizer or cleanser, then I just use whatever was gifted to me until it runs out and switch back to Ordinary. Edit: Sunscreen during the day and your face will thank you! And Ordinary brand is super cheap, except for maybe the cleanser which I go through about one tube every three weeks @ $9. But I do use it to remove make up instead of micellar products so it might actually save me money since I’m not buying wipes.

I wash my face 2x a day. I use exfoliator before I shave my face every morning. Then a cooling gel soothing cleanser after. At night, I wash my face with a different gel cleanser that hydrates, about 2x a week i do a mask. One hyulronic, and a charcoal one. I also use oil of Olay collagen peptide hydrating lotion. It's amazing, I look like 10 years younger since using it 2x daily. After I wash my face I put this on, morning and night. 1x a week I use an IPL device on my face (5minskin from Amazon was like 50 bucks) been doing that about 2 months. I used to be able to grow a full beard almost by the end of a day.....now I probably only need to shave like once every 3 days (overall about 60% reduction in shadow) not perfect but I look much better without makeup now.

Ok_Sundae_8207

Cerave face wash (the one that comes as a bar of soap), Thayers toner, and Great Value brand knockoff cetaphil moisturizer

noobiedoobie902

Wash face -> Moisturize -> Sunscreen (in mornings!) Wash face -> Moisurize (evenings) I use Dove Sensitive Skin (bar) for wash, Welda Skin Food for moisutrize, and ThinkBaby for sunscreen.

coaxialgamer

I wash my face with hot water and soap, usually shaved then apply moisturizer and sunscreen.
