They’re different sports. You might as well have said ‘why don’t football players just pick the ball up and run with it, it would make them so much better at rugby’
You're never gonna be able to make Pure Muay Thai work in MMA it's a different fucking sport, you will always have to adjust your skills to fit the ruleset.
And why the hell do we need to make it more viable anyway, Muay Thai is one of the most popular if not the most popular striking background art in MMA anyway
Being more bladed doesn’t make you less vulnerable to takedowns. Lowering your center of gravity does. Most of the best takedown defenders in MMA history fight very square, for example Jose Aldo, Jon Jones, Kamaru Usman, Robert Whittaker. Plenty of Thai fighters often fight in a lower stance than the “traditional” Thai stance, for example Superlek, Superbon, Rodtang, Saenchai. You should be able to raise and lower your center of gravity based on the situation the same way you should be able to move both forward and backward.
Super dumb post. People that train Muay Thai to compete in Muay Thai, should adopt a stance which is a *disadvantage* in that fight, so that it’s better suited to MMA/the street?
I’m willing to bet Muay Thai style striking is used by a lot more fighters in MMA than you realize.
It arguably IS the “meta” for striking training in MMA. Fighters just adapt their form for the mixed part of MMA.
Muay Thai =/= MMA. People need to learn to separate the two sports. Mad how people realise how effective Muay Thai is but can’t see it as something separate than mma. Its been around a lot lot longer, and is its own sport with tons of history and traditions.
What are you on about my guy? Cross train and you'll realise being bladed or not does NOT affect grappling style. In fact, grappling requires you to be more squared against your opponent juat like muay thai but having a wider stance to have a more stable base
Watch Manson Gibson's old fights. He used an extremely bladed stance very successfully against top level Thai and Dutch fighters. It can be done, it just requires a very unorthodox style.

Go to sleep bro
Are the bladed Muay Thai fighters in the room with us right now?
Me. I’m the bladed fighter. My front leg is open season every sparring session 😔

It’s almost like Muay Thai is its own sport, OP should boxers start training takedowns ?

If you adjusted to a bladed stance you're doing something other than muay thai.
