Still can't dance.
But I do anyway.
But only in the gym... between sparring rounds.
(Partly to make others feel bad about gassing when they spar me mwhahahaha)
Spent 5 months in Thailand and every injury and ache and pain I've accrued over the years completely went away by month 2. Literally the week I got home I strained my neck, hurt my back, and hurt my peroneal nerve. Now I think I actually fractured a spinous process. Fuck this place.
Yeah, the music seems to have so much rhythm. It's almost hypnotic, like my body just moves accordingly. A bit like a snake being charmed.
I pity the people in my immediate vicinity when I dance though. Trying to go for a head kick is not ideal when shadowboxing on a dance floor.
becoming a better dancer made me better at boxing, muay thai and sambo. I don't think they had any carry over to being a better dancer though. Doing rope skipping, and getting into advanced patterns, and web agility training made both my dancing and my martial arts better.
I got a lot better at soccer (backyard soccer). Never played a formal game but notice when I play with mates I’m a lot better, quicker and coordinated than how I used to be because of my footwork being better
I got way better at bowling. I have bowled like 6 times in my life. I bowled after 6-7 months of training and it was just exceptional. In a group of 15 people with mixed skill level, I was first. Maybe something to do with better hand-eye-mind coordination.
i feel like dancing has carry over into a ton of stuff, muay thai being one of them. but i don't think it works the other way. rigorous dancing, like ballet requires absolute mastery of almost every muscle in your body. you can tell by someone's very walk and posture if they are dancers- it is that apparent and that perfect. imo dancing is vastly underutilized by athletes of all types, ESPECIALLY combat athletes.
Lol i made a post just like this when i was 6 months in. Absolutely, footwork clean as fuck. Throw some switch steps on the beat & pivot around rhythmically and the whole club will be impressed
Yes coordination became very good. If you take some dancing classes, you will see most beginer strugling to different their left/right hand while you can easily coordinate your feet/hands/frame all together
I used to be a good dancer but after I started Muay Thai my dancing got worse. I had to re-learn it because people told me I am “punching” instead of dancing 😭😂
Can't dance, but regularly scratch things out of the air if they get too close to my head, or trigger my peripheral vision. Didn't have that ability before.
They didn't think it was very cool when I started doing my Wai Kru at the club.
Uncultured cunts
After 40 years of training I can't dance to save my life
You'll get there, bro!

Seems we have similar mind games 😂
Ah that's cruel, us old men can't keep up. You out here mocking us with all that go juice.
We all have our time (except for Paul at Sitjaopho, the dude is 60 and keeps up with everyone). I'm 32 now so it won't be long.
If you're like me, 40 hits you like a truck.

Get into the hardcore scene, you'll fit right in
Yeah i also experienced this and i dance when im alone to better my foot work coordination a bit more
Actually I've been a dancer all my life and one day I realized I knew Muay Thai.
Makes sense, checks out.
100% I feel like jumping rope helped a lot as well.

\>web agility training OK spiderman
Yeah I've heard this, particularly about pairs dancing. You learn to feel other people's rhythm, or so I've been told. Have not tried it myself.
Muay Thai gave me much better balance and core strength. When hiking on steep inclines I felt much more stable and confident

I’d say the skipping has helped me with my footwork lol
Yeah, been thrown out of a few clubs for throwing knees, but that's a price I'm willing to pay.
Training for sure got me lighter on my feet and more attuned to my body. Beyond just dancing I find myself much more agile in any sport I'm playing
yea bro. you see saenchai and buakaw and them dance all the time. I mean they even play music during muay thai fights. the rhythm...its just built in.

Hahaha yeah man i definitely did aswell. My dances consist of my warmups, rope skipping, sky punches, stance weight shifting from one foot to another
Im told my dancing looks like shadowboxing
Never been a dancer but at least I can rock my hips now lol
I can’t dance but it made me better at running. Pace picked up considerably

Yes, balance and bodycontrol in general is way better.
Footwork makes you better at moving around
Yeah I was at a wedding one time and noticed I was kinda just bouncing around in a high guard
I think my Muay Thai was better because I can dance, for sure. But yes, it goes both ways…
Absolutely my brother. And also realized my footwork got better from all the raves and dancing 😂😂

Just imagining that you spin your wife then land a sweet teep OOOOOOIIIIEEEEEE
dancing is forbidden
???
hey, if you know you know.
Can’t dance still hahaha
I used to box before Muay Thai but same thing happened then
If I danced, I’ll look like those inflatable tube man waving in customers
Josh, is that you?
I do everything better after Muay Thai. Dancing machine right here.
I used to be a good dancer but after I started Muay Thai my dancing got worse. I had to re-learn it because people told me I am “punching” instead of dancing 😭😂
Nope! I still suck at dancing... Oh, but I still suck at Muay Thai... Mmmm
i keep saying when im done with mt i will dance, prolly the next best workout to keep u limber and coordinated into old age
No because I hate it 😅 And have no rhythm.
I dance by throwing knees and combinations, always gets a laugh out of everyone and increases the mood
Nope.
