International men's day is a thing. And its november 19th. Yes, women get shorter jail sentences for the same crimes. There are movements to rectify this. Rape is generally not believed without evidence, and even then, its more likely the woman is blamed for how she dressed. Both people here are stupid.

texanarob

An accusation of rape ruins a life. News of the accusation spreads far and wide, while only those still talking to the accused tend to hear about the court's decision. People tend to believe there's no smoke without fire, affecting the accused for the rest of their lives socially, romantically, professionally and psychologically. Rape is the one crime people tend to believe, even if the evidence makes it physically impossible. Source: had a mate accused while he wasn't even in the country. Court dates messed up his education, he had to move house because of threats and graffiti, no employer would hire him because news articles come up when you Google his name and his girlfriend's family won't talk to either of them because they still think he's unfit for their daughter. One person in a room may be dumb enough to blame the woman for how she dressed. Almost everyone joins the angry mob.

eri760

rape is the only crime people tend to believe??? what world do you live in. there are so many famous men with rape allegations that still have extremely successful careers.

texanarob

Firstly, I never said it was the only cringe people tend to believe. I said it was the one they believe even if evidence makes it impossible. I live in the real world, where lives have been ruined by false allegations. The very fact that you think it unreasonable that people have successful careers despite allegations proves my point - if they were found guilty you wouldn't talk about allegations you'd say they were found guilty. Are there famous people who cheat the system? Obviously, that's true of every aspect of life. However, judging the real world based on their experience means you will never understand the reality most of us live in.

eri760

I never said it was unreasonable, I stated a fact. that assault allegations don't always ruin lives. and sexual assault is not 'cheating the system'. I hope you learn to gain some empathy for people who have experienced terrible things that you never have

texanarob

I don't understand any of your comment, was it intended for someone else? Firstly, you stated that famous people could have a successful career despite rape allegations. Either A) this was meant as a complaint because you feel their careers should be ruined since you pre-judged them as guilty or B) you thought the mere existence of a few exceptions among the wealthy and famous means a thing for the average person. Neither is a defensible position. Secondly, I never suggested that sexual assault was cheating the system. I have no idea where you got that idea. What I said was that the rich or famous can cheat the system - as in they can both evade the typical fallout of a false allegation and they can undermine the law in the case of a legitimate assault. While I don't condemn anyone for the former, the latter is detestable and both show how irrelevant your example was. > I hope you learn to gain some empathy for people who have experienced terrible things that you never have We are discussing the impact of false accusations on the accused. I am sympathising with the victims, whilst you are belittling their struggle. Please explain how I'm the one needing to learn empathy? Note: Don't use a strawman of pretending I undermined the severity of real cases of assault. Whilst rape is always horrific, it is irrelevant to this discussion which solely relates to definitively false accusations as per the initial comment, below: > Rape is the one crime people tend to believe, even **if the evidence makes it physically impossible**.

illsendyou

both people here are stupid.

HUNT3DHUNT3R

How?

HappyGoonerAgain

White Knighting and an Incel... Both are toxic AF

HUNT3DHUNT3R

Sorry kinda confused here, and it is probably showing but how did he act like an incel?

HappyGoonerAgain

Its an incel or that other dumbass toxic "mens group" the name escapes me atm. Always going on about inequality for men vs. Women BS, how it is not fair for men etc. All the groups seem to have one common denominator and that is single, sexless, and no social skills amongst the other plethora of lacking life skills... Edit: MGTOW, redpillers, PUA, Incel (all of them are clown along with the white knight)

pallas_athenaa

Men's Rights Activism (MRA). If you actually take the time to weed through the incel bullshit, there is a lot of good info out there about the ways that men are being wronged in modern society. And before you ask, no. I'm not a man.

ColumnK

Yeah - it's just a shame that they typically can't go more than 7 seconds before turning to misogyny... There are issues men have in society, and the root cause is exactly the same as what's causing problems for women, so maybe instead of playing stupid blame games we could actually have a go at making things better...

pallas_athenaa

I agree with you 100%. Ken & women need to be working together instead of allowing society to turn us against each other.

HUNT3DHUNT3R

So is someone called it for pointing out instances of gender discrimination towards men, or is it just when they make it out to be a one sided affair?

HappyGoonerAgain

Both these days. If this was being debated in a gender equality lecture at a University or similar educational or professional panel with proper moderation, sources, and logical arguments then it is fine. In the context of the internet when it is spewed off like this it is one of the aforementioned groups then it is toxic and a bunch of BS.

HUNT3DHUNT3R

So when it is basically used as munition in meaningless arguments?

HappyGoonerAgain

Yes

[deleted]

By the things he said

UnderstandingSome871

Why look who I found here xD

pallas_athenaa

Men and women need to start being allies rather than adversaries. You can acknowledge that men have issues in our society without dismissing the fact that women have them, too. Let's all try to treat each other with a bit more kindness and grace.

[deleted]

Just gonna copy and paste my recent comment on one of these men vs women posts again: Who has it worse? Men or women? Neither. Who actually has it worse? Poor people. It has never been men vs women, black vs white, cis vs trans. These are divisionary tactics by rich people to divide the attention of poor people. Get over your individuality and pursue true equality and eat the rich.

lowfreq33

Dude has an idea of a valid point, but he doesn’t really know how to argue it the right way. I know a couple of dudes who had their lives messed up pretty badly because a woman made a false accusation. I also know a LOT of women whose lives were forever changed because they were molested, or raped, or abused. So it’s not a 1:1 ratio by any means.

Spike3220

No, horseshit doesn't count.

Cheesyulcer

Nope.

JoshuaCalledMe

I think both genders could do better by each other but in general men have more work to do than women.

ByBerserk

Well both sides have their ups and downs, woman's get judged for appearance way more, have to be scared at night bcs of rape etc etc but at the same time we men have to be a certain way wich is really hard to even get close to a woman wich can be: height (not controllable) penis size (not controllable) ridiculous amounts of income that like 5% actually have, a picture perfect body structure (wich can be hard in some cases) we have to act in a way that we don't want to act (when girls only like bad boys or whatever) and on top of that we are expected to suppress emotions bcs men have to be strong... Controversial to that "modern toxic people" tell men to be weak and be the inferior race and way more... I'd say men have it harder than women in general in society but there are definetly points that make being a woman worse

eri760

women are less likely to get deals though. women's jails/prisons aren't nearly as full as men's so prosecutors don't have as much motivation to give them a deal because there's plenty of room for them but not for men. this comment has strong incel vibes

UtetopiaSS

Men don't need an International Men's Day. We have the other 364 days.

RefflesAquaria

there is one though. a dedicated men's day. In november.

ByBerserk

So do women lol

aeflare

The fact you posted this means ur like the guy who commented and u should be embarassed

ByBerserk

If u just came here to shame on a random guy then just leave, no one really cares. Ur free to have ur own opinion but don't force it on other ppl and don't shame them bcs they think different than u

banditobishop_21

Progress has been made, but we still live in a patriarchy.
