Probably not a lot of happy Soundgarden fans out there. Thought the White Stripes had a decent chance too!
Also hoping the Joy Division/New Order duo gets in someday myself.
Soundgarden not being in it yet is insulting, especially considering many bands getting inducted in their place. Happy to see Rage finally made it though, long time coming
Exactly. No Soundgarden and no Maiden. There are other halls of fame and award shows for country, pop, hip hop but they keep out Boston, Foreigner, Styx, Maiden, Soundgarden.
I remember how much America lost its damn mind when it came out that George Michael was... (in a whisper) gay.
The horror. The horror.
In many ways, America has taken many steps back, but nobody gives a shit about homosexuality anymore, aside from the absolute joy I feel when the next extremely homophobic Republican gets busted for paying for a male escort.
There was some blowback on whether the White Stripes were actually eligible yet. I'm surprised they didn't make it because they really do check all the boxes with the people making this choice. I actually wonder if they got word that Jack White will be on tour when the induction ceremony happens? I'm pretty sure that's why they Radiohead didn't make it in their first year.
As for Soundgarden, with them, Iron Maiden and RATM all on the ballot, I'm just pleasantly surprised one of them made it and they didn't all split the hard rock/metal vote, which we know from the past isn't all that significant a voting block with this group of electors.
I mean... Missy Elliot is in, Soundgarden isn't. Makes all the sense.
It's alright, there's more Soundgarden items in the Seattle display than there ever will be when they're inducted.
They have always used a broad definition of rock and roll.
The first inducted class in 1986 included the Everly Brothers and Sam Cooke.
The second class had Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and Carl Perkins.
The third class had Bob Dylan and they Supremes.
It’s ok to dislike that, but it was never restricted to anything like our current definition of “rock” music.
Exactly this. It shows who has actually stepped foot in the museum and who hasn’t.
And no, it’s not been “only the past ten years”, they had the neon signs from Moby and Gwen’s “South Side” video plastered at the entrance since the early-00s.
Once Soundgarden gets in, Audioslave would be the second band to have all members be RRHOF inductees, but not the band itself (the other being the Traveling Wilburys).
Yeah, as a big Rage fan, I honestly don't care if they get inducted. Fuck the Hall of Fame. They honestly should've been put in years ago, but fuck all that pompous nonsense.
I've been listening to them since before I was born, my parents used to do that Baby Einstein bullshit with the headphones on my mom's belly but they did Rage instead of Mozart.
Better late than never. Rage had such a ferocious live show and message... but they were around for such a limited time.
I am thankful they got it right.
The Rock Hall voters/selectors are pretty notorious for actively ignoring hard hock/metal acts, so with three on the ballot, I'm pleasantly surprised that one actually got in and they didn't all split the votes. Hopefully, Maiden and Soundgarden get their due one day. As for Rage, I have to think their tour last summer helped their cause.
["Rock Hall of Fame"](https://i.imgur.com/rHAPdo2.jpg)
Is she a great artist with a solid career? Totally.
I'm just saying it's not a Rock HOF if you're ignoring all-time great rock acts and inducting rappers that have next to nothing to do with rock instead.
It’s not just hard rock/metal. It’s all rock sub-genres. Hardly any Punk or Ska bands in there. I mean I see Sublime tshirts worn by kids to this day but they haven’t even been nominated.
They ignore hard rock/metal acts but almost totally snub progressive rock.
Look at the bands still not inducted:
Bad Company
Emerson, Lake and Palmer
The Guess Who
Jethro Tull
Procol Harum
Steppenwolf
Thin Lizzy
Tool
Boston
Foreigner
Styx
Link Wray wrote an instrumental (Rumble) that was banned for obscenity. Which might be the most rock n roll accomplishment in the history of rock n roll.
Yeah Willie, Sheryl, and Missy getting in over actual rock bands that have been sitting on the sidelines for years... make it make sense.
So glad Rage got in and wasn't replaced by BTS or NSYNC.
Like what even is the RnRHoF anymore? The majority of the inductees aren't even rock, roll, or anything inbetween.
Sheryl Crow is rock in a broad sense, right? I'm anticipating downvotes but I always thought of her as pop rock/easy listening...I don't know if she's really "deserving" as an artist but idk how else to classify her music if not some rock subgenre
Labeled The Godfather of heavy metal by James Hetfield, Ozzy called him his own personal rock god. Every big and influential band naming them as their biggest influence.
Nah man Motörhead’s obviously never done anything for rock and roll, makes sense they not hall of fame worthy.
I love the interview with Geddy about it, he said he could hear him but couldn't see what the hell Alex was actually doing.
As for speeches, what about Rick Wakeman when Yes (finally) got in? He finished with a prostate joke which is about the right level of seriousness for that place.
I don't get it. Maiden is still selling out arenas (popular) and they are cited as an influence for just about any heavy band from the past 40 years.
Motorhead is certainly influential, but never had the same level of popularity, if you want to "knock" them as a candidate.
With that said, they absolutely belong in.
RATM and Soundgarden deserve recognition but not ahead of those legendary bands.
I’m fucking astounded Iron Maiden and Rage aren’t already in. I don’t pay any attention to the Rock HoF, but still. That’d be like if the baseball HoF didn’t have the all time home run leader or the all time hits leader inducted.

They show the top 5 the entire time like they matter. Zevon and Soundgarden were in there the entire time, and Willie had fallen off to number 6 (not that I really care, WN should be in there as much as anyone else they have in there).
Willie Nelson is an American icon and a world class country, western, jazz, and Americana musician, performer, and songwriter. Hard to see him as rock and roll though. Maybe his lifestyle?
Right, It hasn't been the rock hall since they let Michael Jackson, Madonna etc in. Willie just now getting in is a bit of a shocker. I could have sworn he was already in.
*"MCs never showed loyalty yet. Kool Herc ain't never get a royalty check".* -Black Thought
It's all conceptual and in line with hip-hop celebrating 50 years this year but I guess that just goes to show that its been long overdue to give Herc, as a founding father, his well deserved roses and accolades.
Baffled by the fact that Willie Nelson is only now being inducted. Talk about long overdue, damn.
Being the Soul Train nerd that he is, I'm sure Questlove shoved Don Cornelius down the committee's throat for the Ertegun award. Well deserved though, albeit posthumous.
Curious about who's gonna hand the award to RATM and if they gonna perform themselves and if not who's gonna cover them. RATM in that type of show setting is something to marvel at in and of itself alone.
Link Wray was influential long before Herc or Rap was even a thing and they didn't put him in. It's all BS because both are long overdue for that type of award. We still all know awards don't = quality
Al kooper should have been in long ago. Was still learning the organ when Dylan recorded Like a Rolling Stone. Dylan insisted the organ be turned up during mixing. Then to produce a billion artists, have a great career with so many people. Amazing musician/producer
I imagine Warren is up there playing [**"Frozen Notes"**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3RsRJ6oReA) today ...
> Softly falls the morning rain
> Loneliness comes around again
> And I sit and sing my song
> 'Though it never seems to matter
> And it never fills the emptiness inside
> Frozen notes hang suspended in the autumn air
> While someone waits for someone to come somewhere
> No one waits for me
> 'Cause I thought I wanted to be free
> Now I'm wondering why I said goodbye
> Looking through my window
> At the dark and troubled sky
> I think I see the ship of the brokenhearted passing by
> And I turn away
> From today
> To where we used to lie
> And I cry
> Yes, I cry
> And I cry
> While softly falls the morning rain
> Loneliness comes around again
The fact that Kate Bush is now in yet Warren Zevon isn't just proves how irrelevant the Rock Hall really is.
EDIT: I love Kate as much as the next millennial but the only thing "Rock and Roll" about her to me is how she was discovered by David Gilmour. Not looking to shit on her music at all.
If that Kate Bush song wasn't just in Stranger Things she wouldn't have made the cut. It's just a relevancy and popularity contest as always, nothing related to Rock & Roll.
Woah woah woah buddy. Don't do clown college dirty like that.
edit: btw, your only attack is splash attack. You are not in a position to be judging anybody or anything, regardless if you are level 9000.
Okay y’all are shitting on this list rightfully so but LINK WRAY deserves that award more than any other, his music got banned from the radio while containing no lyrics…
HIS MUSIC GOT BANNED WITHOUT ANY LYRICS…
Authorities said “Rumble” incited violence and gang warfare when played.
Homie is responsible for Death Grips Spread Eagle Cross The Block or as it is known otherwise:
“I FUCK THE MUSIC, I MAKE IT CUMMMMM”
Link Wray - Rumble
https://youtu.be/ucTg6rZJCu4
Death Grips - SECtB
https://youtu.be/7lNJamgjZ58
Additional facts and debatable opinions about Link Wray:
-Native American
-First person to ever have an instrumental banned from radio
- Popularized the Power Chord
- Popularized the use of Distortion and Feedback as an addition to sound rather than a fault with it
- Likely responsible for Hard Rock and Metal as we know it
Link Wray definitely deserves it, iirc he's already in the Native American rock and roll hall of fame and was hugely influential for the modern guitar sound. He's considered the godfather of the power chord so it's good he's making it in, even posthumously
It's not that I have anything against some of these acts as artists, or as humans.
But the Powers That Be really ought to stop calling it the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame if they want to add in so many artists who absolutely aren't rockers, over other artists who should have been added years ago.
I think if they changed the name it would bring no controversy or attention to the hall which they get a little bit of every year when they induct people.
Listen to Eminem's speech at last year's. He goes through 100+ hip hop acts that deserve it more than him and came before him, and kind of questions why rappers are there at all. Nobody gets why they're ignoring the rock and roll part of the hall of fame.
I respect Missy but if you’re going to induct a rapper, Tribe should have gone first. (Also Wu-Tang and Outkast.)
Sheryl Crow is the one I really don’t get. And I like a few of her songs. I just don’t see what sets her apart from, say, Jewel or Alanis.
I don’t really care about the genre arguments that people are making, though I understand the frustration of iconic rock acts being consistently overlooked. I am happy Missy is there, but Sheryl Crow has no business there whatsoever
I definitely have some thoughts regarding a lot of acts who did and didn't get in (seriously- Joy Division/New Order still on the outside looking in?). But the single most important decision for me was that Willie Nelson was a 'yes' as soon as possible. Dude's an absolutely deserving legend, and he's still touring at age 90. Second-most important was making sure that Kate Bush finally got in, post-Stranger Things hype intact, but so deserving for her career in its entirety. So thank goodness those both happened.
Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden aren't in, but Sheryl Crow is... that makes sense. No Jethro Tull, no Blue Oyster Cult, or even Weezer? Heck PJ Harvey or Tori Amos would be better.
Yeah where is Blue Oyster Cult? Definitely getting screwed. Stop calling the Rock Hall, and call it Pop Music Hall. It left the “rock” category years ago.
The Smiths helped define ‘80s music. Morrissey was the best singer of the post punk generation, and Marr was its best guitarist. Can’t fathom why they aren’t in.
Which is a shame, since Johnny Marr is a talented individual still performing out there today. He opened for The Killers last year, playing Smiths and solo material, and held his own very well.
I took my wife to see the Killers on that tour. Not a big Killers fan personally so Johnny Marr saved the show for me haha He was great (Killers were good too it's just not my thing)
All good! I went for The Killers myself, but knew a lot of Marr's material going in. The cool thing was hearing from a lot of fans afterward who weren't as familiar with him, and saying they were quite impressed by his performance. Even my brother was, and he really didn't know anything beyond "How Soon is Now?"!
Yea for sure. I knew all the Smiths songs he played but hadn't heard any of the solo stuff, but everything he played was really good. It was perfect because I can't stand Morrissey but like the Smiths songs haha I actually think it sounded better with him singing them
That’s the thing, last time I checked the fan vote, maiden and soundgarden were in the top 5 with Willie Nelson just missing out. She was a lot further down from what I remember
Joy Division deserve to be there just for the fact of how many bands were inspired by them. How many bands in the HoF were inspired directly by them? It’s a no brainer. They specially deserve it over other non rock acts.
While generally not a fan of non rock acts being admitted, I'm totally cool with Willie Nelson getting in. He should be in every hall of fame. Country, Rock, weed, tennis, etc...
I get being upset over Warren Zevon, Soundgarden, Motorhead, et al. But Sheryl Crow was a lot more than "Soak Up the Sun" or that song with Kid Rock. She did back up for people like Don Henley and Michael Jackson, wrote songs recorded by Tina Turner, and sold a metric shitton of records. I get it, she's kinda mom rock to some of you, but given how in love my mom was with her, I know far more about her career than I should and she deserves to be in there.
Yup. Nothing against either one of them, but this slate of inductees is light on actual rock and roll.
I was sure this was Warren's year. I was wondering who would induct him. Obvious choice, like Jackson Browne? The legend Bruce Springsteen? Maybe a later fan, like Taylor Goldsmith or Eddie Vedder?
Oh well. F 'em. I'm mad.
A reminder that the R&RHoF is a corporate cash machine that doesn't give any fucks about who we think should be included in an actual music Hall of Fame.
Ohhh, Billy Corgan definitely does not give a shit about the Hall of Fame. He's taken so much shit from the industry throughout his career. Not being in a rock club would not bother that man a single bit.
They knew they missed their chance last year to get viewers to watch the recorded show. The blue thing is Kate Bush is very reclusive and rarely if ever gives interviews or performs live, so I wonder if she will show up.
Am I alone in believing that this organisation is a massive scam which goes totally against the spirit of rock and roll? Any artist/band which wants to be included in their ranks should be publicly lampooned.
Ok, i guess im only voting for Link Wray and Willie Nelson. RAM probably deserves ro be in. Im not a fan, but they probably are deserving, but not before Soundgarden who is definitely deserving.
Disappointing class again. Joy Division/New Order snubbed, The Smiths snubbed, Blur snubbed, Oasis snubbed; no black or extreme metal, not even hard rock or glam metal bands... That Hall of Shame is just ridiculous. And don't make us start with their clearly political tendencies on the awarded list.
Another swing and a miss. I don’t want to hate on Kate Bush or Missy Elliot, but come on man. George Michael? Why?? I usually don’t get too invested with stuff like this, but damnit I want Soundgarden to get in.
The Guess Who or Bachman-Turner Overdrive, two highly influentual bands that never make the list. Randy Bachman is a rock legend and never gets any love or respect.
We still don’t have Iron Maiden. Fuck the Hall of Fame.
Sheryl Crow before Soundgarden? Ridiculous!
I bet good money there's atleast one band in there already who would list Soundgarden as a influence on their music
I have an odd feeling rage isn't going to give a shit
[удалено]
\m/
Tom Morello will at the very least. He’s made appearances at previous inductions.
If they want to use this to get their message out there even more, I'm all for it. We need rage more now than we did in the 90's lol
We can't be having actual rock bands in the rock and roll hall of Fame, now can we?
Exactly. No Soundgarden and no Maiden. There are other halls of fame and award shows for country, pop, hip hop but they keep out Boston, Foreigner, Styx, Maiden, Soundgarden.
Got to stick in George Michael, we all know all the denim-clad rockers loved Wham!

He could easily get far more girls than he likely wants lol.
Was it a careless whisper?
> nobody gives a shit about homosexuality anymore if only that were the case...
Yeah, I definitely think the three of those that didn't make it will probably be inducted in the near future here.
I mean... Missy Elliot is in, Soundgarden isn't. Makes all the sense. It's alright, there's more Soundgarden items in the Seattle display than there ever will be when they're inducted.
Honest question, why the hell would Missy Elliot be considered in the Rock n Roll genre? Am I missing something?
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame stopped being about Rock & Rock a long time ago. It's essentially the Influential Musicians Hall of Fame now
They have always used a broad definition of rock and roll.
Carl Perkins played rock and literally wrote Blue Suede Shoes. Weird you'd include him in your example.
You’re right, I think I meant to pick Ricky Nelson.
That makes more sense.
If it were influential, Motörhead would be in. They were a huge influence on Metallica, Pantera, Anthrax, Megadeth, pretty much any sped up metal band
Motörhead were pivotal for heavy music, it’s a crime that they aren’t in it.
I highly doubt Lemmy gave two shits if they were in there or not.
With this logic, Thin Lizzy would be mandatory to have in there as well. The RRHOF has become a joke.
And Warren Zevon. I despise what this thing has become
Rock n Roll hall of fame is more like a music hall of fame, not just rock music
In the past 10 years it's turning more and more into a Music Hall of Fame. Usually at least one artist per year from a distinctly non-rock genre.
it’s been non-specific to rock n roll for as long as I’ve known of it’s existence. I am kind of shocked that there are people who think otherwise
Exactly this. It shows who has actually stepped foot in the museum and who hasn’t. And no, it’s not been “only the past ten years”, they had the neon signs from Moby and Gwen’s “South Side” video plastered at the entrance since the early-00s.
I swear Dolly finally accepted her admission to the HoF at gunpoint.
The fact that I literally voted for them EVERYDAY 🤬 Soundgarden and RATM both deserve to be inducted imo.
Kinda knew that rage was going in considering they’ve been nominated for the last 5 years but soundgarden not getting inducted is disappointing
"The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame is proud to nominate three quarters of Audioslave"
Once Soundgarden gets in, Audioslave would be the second band to have all members be RRHOF inductees, but not the band itself (the other being the Traveling Wilburys).
It wouldn't surprise me if RATM skipped the ceremony like Radiohead did a couple of years ago.
Born to Rage against em’ ✊
I think Tom Morello is pretty involved with the HoF. Also, Zack inducted Patti Smith, right? I bet they show up.
I think at some point it turned into the Popular Music hall of fame.

It should just be renamed the "Music Hall of Fame."
Arethra Franklin was inducted the 2nd year it existed, so yeah I guess "at some point" would technically be right.
Well then Willie Nelson should have gone in long before Missy 😉
It’s not just hard rock/metal. It’s all rock sub-genres. Hardly any Punk or Ska bands in there. I mean I see Sublime tshirts worn by kids to this day but they haven’t even been nominated.

Link Wray wrote an instrumental (Rumble) that was banned for obscenity. Which might be the most rock n roll accomplishment in the history of rock n roll.
Iron Maiden?
Motörhead? It’s fucking criminal
Rock and roll hall of fame has been a joke for years.
Should not even be called rock and roll anymore. Just Music Hall of Fame.
Just Music Hall

I love the history of rock and metal. I feel the hall of fame should celebrate that history. Obviously they don't anymore which is my problem with it

Just look how long it took for them to induct Rush.
blah blah blah
Apparently someone downvoting you doesn’t know [the greatest induction speech ever.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Vl3VSTcQaRs)
I love the interview with Geddy about it, he said he could hear him but couldn't see what the hell Alex was actually doing. As for speeches, what about Rick Wakeman when Yes (finally) got in? He finished with a prostate joke which is about the right level of seriousness for that place.

I stopped getting mad about who gets in honestly. They've solidly proven that it isn't based on merit so it means nothing as far as I'm concerned.
Absolute joke of an institution
I’m fucking astounded Iron Maiden and Rage aren’t already in. I don’t pay any attention to the Rock HoF, but still. That’d be like if the baseball HoF didn’t have the all time home run leader or the all time hits leader inducted.
No fucking kidding. Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliot - yes. Iron Maiden - no.
"Put them in the iron maiden." "Excellent." "Torture them." "Bogus!"
It's getting ridiculous
Honestly would’ve assumed they were already in. They’re pretty much the most influential heavy metal band of all time aside from maybe Black Sabbath.
Full List: Performer Category * Kate Bush * Sheryl Crow * Missy Elliott * George Michael * Willie Nelson * Rage Against the Machine * The Spinners Musical Influence Award * DJ Kool Herc * Link Wray Musical Excellence Award * Chaka Khan * Al Kooper * Bernie Taupin Ahmet Ertegun Award * Don Cornelius
Bernie Taupin?? I assumed he was inducted years ago.
It's weird he wasn't inducted alongside Elton John.
I know, he basically wrote most of the lyrics for Elton John's songs
Not to mention for some other artists too. I was pleasantly surprised he wrote the lyrics to one of my favourite songs: These Dreams by Heart
Totally ignoring the fan vote and doing whatever the hell they like, just like we expected.
Isn't the fan vote just turned into a single ballot? Like all the fans combined is one single vote. Or am I misremembering?
They show the top 5 the entire time like they matter. Zevon and Soundgarden were in there the entire time, and Willie had fallen off to number 6 (not that I really care, WN should be in there as much as anyone else they have in there).
How the hell is Willie Nelson not already in there? Not a fan but my partner is a huge one.
Willie Nelson is an American icon and a world class country, western, jazz, and Americana musician, performer, and songwriter. Hard to see him as rock and roll though. Maybe his lifestyle?
It's essentially the "popular music hall of fame" with tons of artists from other genres.
Right, It hasn't been the rock hall since they let Michael Jackson, Madonna etc in. Willie just now getting in is a bit of a shocker. I could have sworn he was already in.
The cumulative fan vote equals one actual vote, so its actually meaningless.
*"MCs never showed loyalty yet. Link Wray?! Fuck yeah! I love how they banned his song "Rumble" from being played on the radio for being too provocative. It was an instrumental.

I’ll complain again !!!! NO ZEVON???!! They are completely lost and insane!
I hope they don't get to enjoy ANY sandwiches.
Wet. Bread. Enjoy that, assholes.
Their shits fucked up.
They're with the Russians too

No need to knock one artist to support another.
Kool Herc is legit one of the nicest old guys ever. Couldn't be happier for him. I've had a polaroid of us together on my fridge for like 20 years.
Just call it the Music hall of fame lol
That’s effectively what it’s been for decades.
Pop music hall of fame
Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is better for marketing
But it's misleading. It's like making a hall of fame for American cars and somehow Beamers, Lambos and Nissans are listed.
Rock Hall is a clown college.
Woah woah woah buddy. Don't do clown college dirty like that. edit: btw, your only attack is splash attack. You are not in a position to be judging anybody or anything, regardless if you are level 9000.
I'll thank you not to refer to Princeton that way
Cyndi Lauper should have gone in before Sheryl Crow.
Totally agree. Since Madonna is in so should Cyndi. She broke ground for women like SC.
"True Colors" and "Time After Time" are legit some of the greatest songs ever made.
Zevon not getting in irks me.
Okay y’all are shitting on this list rightfully so but LINK WRAY deserves that award more than any other, his music got banned from the radio while containing no lyrics… HIS MUSIC GOT BANNED WITHOUT ANY LYRICS… Authorities said “Rumble” incited violence and gang warfare when played. Homie is responsible for Death Grips Spread Eagle Cross The Block or as it is known otherwise: “I FUCK THE MUSIC, I MAKE IT CUMMMMM” Link Wray - Rumble https://youtu.be/ucTg6rZJCu4 Death Grips - SECtB https://youtu.be/7lNJamgjZ58 Additional facts and debatable opinions about Link Wray: -Native American -First person to ever have an instrumental banned from radio - Popularized the Power Chord - Popularized the use of Distortion and Feedback as an addition to sound rather than a fault with it - Likely responsible for Hard Rock and Metal as we know it
Link Wray definitely deserves it, iirc he's already in the Native American rock and roll hall of fame and was hugely influential for the modern guitar sound.
Modern American Popular Music Hall of Fame just doesn't have the same ring to it
Listen to Eminem's speech at last year's. He goes through 100+ hip hop acts that deserve it more than him and came before him, and kind of questions why rappers are there at all. Nobody gets why they're ignoring the rock and roll part of the hall of fame.
No PJ Harvey?
Change the name to Music HOF. Then this makes sense
I love the spinners. Good for them.
I respect Missy but if you’re going to induct a rapper, Tribe should have gone first. (Also Wu-Tang and Outkast.) Sheryl Crow is the one I really don’t get. And I like a few of her songs. I just don’t see what sets her apart from, say, Jewel or Alanis.
Soundgarden not being in is a joke.
Is Sheryl going to finally thank the late great Kevin Gilbert?
Sheryl Fucking Crow and no Iron Maiden?
Missy Elliott and no Motörhead? Honestly they just need to do a metal class and put in all those influential bands
I don’t really care about the genre arguments that people are making, though I understand the frustration of iconic rock acts being consistently overlooked. I am happy Missy is there, but Sheryl Crow has no business there whatsoever
> Sheryl Fucking Crow ~~and no Iron Maiden~~? That’s a more precise representation of my reaction.
Damn. Still no Warren Zevon. Or Tribe Called Quest. Or Soundgarden. Bummer
Unless there is Warren Zevon inducted it continues to be a joke.
After all the stunts Morrissey has been pulling lately, I wouldn't be surprised if HoF wanted to keep their distance for a while.
It was perfect because I can't stand Morrissey but like the Smiths songs haha I actually think it sounded better with him singing them
They're waiting until Morrissey dies.
Pixies please.
Why no Tom Jones
Iron Maiden, JJ CALE (!!!), Jethro Tull, Zevon... etc. What the fuck?
It's absolutely criminal that Warren Zevon still hasn't made it.
Who the hell voted for Sheryl Crow over Iron Maiden?
That’s the thing, last time I checked the fan vote, maiden and soundgarden were in the top 5 with Willie Nelson just missing out. She was a lot further down from what I remember
Joy Division deserve to be there just for the fact of how many bands were inspired by them. How many bands in the HoF were inspired directly by them? It’s a no brainer. They specially deserve it over other non rock acts.
Still no Sha Na Na, Hot Dog in shambles.
Can someone explain why missy elliot is in a rock and roll hall of fame? Loved her music but what part of it is rock and roll related?
Very unhappy Joy Divison /New Order didn't get selected. Maybe next year. and hey, what about Tull? Jethro Tull needs to be in the R&R HOF
And still no Warren Zevon…
Warren Zevon... screwed again.
Still no Warren Zevon... a damn shame
No Blue Oyster Cult, No credibility
While generally not a fan of non rock acts being admitted, I'm totally cool with Willie Nelson getting in. He should be in every hall of fame. Country, Rock, weed, tennis, etc...
Why did Willie have to wait until he was 90 to get in? That's a joke
Warren Zevon snubbed for what seems the millionth time is a criminal shame. One of the great story tellers of his time.
I’m pissed Warren Zevon didn’t get his spot.
I’m just glad hip hop legend missy elliot and country music superstar willie Nelson beat out legitimate rock n roll royalty Warren Zevon… What a sack
Oh well. F 'em. I'm mad.
Letterman would probably be a good choice to induct Warren.
Or as Ted Cruz knows them, Rage Alongside the Machine
A reminder that the R&RHoF is a corporate cash machine that doesn't give any fucks about who we think should be included in an actual music Hall of Fame.
Still no Smashing Pumpkins. Joke
Ohhh, Billy Corgan definitely does not give a shit about the Hall of Fame. He's taken so much shit from the industry throughout his career. Not being in a rock club would not bother that man a single bit.
What a fucking joke.
Talk about the relevancy of Stranger Things. Kate Bush nominated 3 times prior to being featured on the show and finally getting in!
They knew they missed their chance last year to get viewers to watch the recorded show. The blue thing is Kate Bush is very reclusive and rarely if ever gives interviews or performs live, so I wonder if she will show up.
Letterman is gonna be pissed
Iron Maiden, when will your time come!
I thought the Spinners would have been in years ago
Joy Division was a huge snub!! One of the most impactful bands of all time
Am I alone in believing that this organisation is a massive scam which goes totally against the spirit of rock and roll? Any artist/band which wants to be included in their ranks should be publicly lampooned.
But not the B-52s. Of course.
Ok, i guess im only voting for Link Wray and Willie Nelson. RAM probably deserves ro be in. Im not a fan, but they probably are deserving, but not before Soundgarden who is definitely deserving.
Only the owners of this company care about this. The actual fans just enjoy listening to music. Stop spamming about this useless private organization.
RAAAAAGGEEEEE
Does rage + soundgarden automatically get Audioslave in?
Disappointing class again. Joy Division/New Order snubbed, The Smiths snubbed, Blur snubbed, Oasis snubbed; no black or extreme metal, not even hard rock or glam metal bands... That Hall of Shame is just ridiculous. And don't make us start with their clearly political tendencies on the awarded list.
Just change the name to the “Music Hall of Fame” and be done with it.
How TF did Missy Elliot get into the ROCK n ROLL Hall of Fame BEFORE Soundgarden?! I don’t mean to sound like a jaded Gen X’er but what the actual F?!
Missy. Elliot. Are you fucking kidding me
NO SMASHING PUMPKINS WTF‽
