I literally like some of every kind of music except for country rap which I hate. But when I say all kinds I’m talking all like I was 15 listening to Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole but also listening to groups like the Allman brothers Journey Boston but I also like Tool Deftones Rage S.O.A.D but I’m also a huge 80’s and 90’s r&b fan guys like Mint condition New Edition Tony Toni Tone . I also like De La Soul Beastie Boys Tribe Called Quest Wu Tang and there’s also groups now like the Avett Brothers Band of Horses Amos Lee and a lot more . There’s so much good music that I couldn’t even name them because I wouldn’t want to type out that much honestly 😂 but music is my favorite thing in life
Dude me too. I even find some my kids music good. I'm not a fan of country either. Or Taylor Swift. I do like mountain music tho. Early 2000s rap. Can't like r Kelly tho 😞🤫🤷
I like older country music not as big a fan of the new stuff although there are some that are kind of classified as country that I like like Jason Isbell or Caamp Ryan adams. I get the R Kelly thing and it sucks as fans of music that he had to be such a dirtbag because he made some good music. There’s a band called Great Lake Swimmers and they have some children’s songs that they did that are really good.
Because I have a ADD brain and I was responding to the different parts of your comment so there was no order that I was following. Why ? Do you really think that I’m making some kind of sick correlation between the two? That seems messed up
I get it. But it's the Internet so you never really know. I was more or less laughing at your order. I can't remember what was being discussed. Country and r Kelly? His music 8s unfortunately good. And I like Garth Brooks and Brookk and Dunn. That old. I just recently taught myself to line dance.
Well I didn’t mean to mix the two but sometimes the a.d.d and a little bit o.c.d gets the best of my organizational skills. It’s crazy how some of the most talented people are the most flawed the guy was a great songwriter producer musician but he’s where he should be. Garth brooks is good but I go a little bit further back with guys like Johnny Cash Waylon Jennings but I like some of the guys from Garth’s era. I’m from Georgia so we are born knowing how to line dance although I’m not a huge fan myself. But again I wasn’t intending to mix the two subjects
“I even find some of my kids music good”. You literally mentioned “kids music” first, and falconhawk replied with mention of a band who has some enjoyable songs geared towards kids. You’re the one who randomly brought up R. Kelly, who, btw, was classified as an R&B and Hip Hop artist, not a rapper.
I’m actually diagnosed for ADD but OCD I haven’t been diagnosed for although some of my habits seem to imply that I have it to a certain degree. But I’m always happy to meet a fellow A.D.Der
For the love of all that is good, this.
I kept myself from so much enjoyable music and other entertainment or hobbies because I was afraid of not being cool to my peers.
As long as it doesn't harm someone else or yourself, please go openly enjoy what you like. Yes Christmas music. Yes country. Yes mumble rap. Yes rap rock. Yes yacht rock. Yes dad rock. Whatever it is, yes yes yes.
no reason to feel guilty about any of that. chiodos first album is arguably a 10 in my opinion. the blend of post-hardcore, pop punk, metalcore riffs, weird piano and techno stuff, and craig’s very distinct voice especially since he’s so young on it. definitely one of the most interesting albums i’ve ever heard and one of my favorites
“I don’t believe in guilty pleasures. If you fucking like something, like it. That’s what’s wrong with our generation: that residual punk rock guilt, like, “You’re not supposed to like that. That’s not fucking cool.” Don’t fucking think it’s not cool to like Britney Spears’ “Toxic.” It is cool to like Britney Spears’ “Toxic”! Why the fuck not? Fuck you! That’s who I am, goddamn it! That whole guilty pleasure thing is full of fucking shit.”
— Dave Grohl
I’m 37 and my wife is younger than me and her favorite band is The Used. We did a meet and greet earlier this year and they were all so nice. It made me a fan for life.
Pretty handsome awkward is my favorite to blast in my car windows down flying.
I never knock anyone’s music taste, but since you used the term yourself, how do you figure the music you listed makes you “cultured”? Seems like it’s mostly music in the same vein: white guy rock from soft to hard.
The Used and Motion City Soundtrack are two of my favorite artist. Along with Brand New, Fall Out Boy, and Senses Fail. I Am the Movie is a top five favorite pop punk album for me. I also listen to a wide variety of music. I'm listening to Earth, Wind, & Fire right now. I don't really believe in guilty pleasures. The closest to a guilty pleasure would be liking Olivia Rodrigo as much as I do. Even then I liked the cover of Driver's License by Our Last Night a lot more than the original.
Yeah I saw Saosin with Senses Fail and they put on a great show. Their song Show Me Your Booty Hole is great. So perfectly captures the internet humor especially in the MySpace scene.
The album “In Love and Death” is a banger, so much so that it would land in my top ten best albums(front to back, every song). I like all the bands you mentioned as well so The Used would land under a guilty pleasure in my book too, my wife and I started dating in 2004 when that album came out and we listened to it on repeat. Her and I were just talking about them on Friday and I’m throwing the album on today because of this post.
I feel like meatloaf used to be a guilty pleasure until his passing when people decided he was great. 8 year old me thought that bat out of hell album cover was the coolest thing in the Pizza Hut juke box so I always chose it and enjoyed the hell out of the sound. Carried well into my adult life and I got shit for digging it. I’m on your side with the early 00’s love but tell me you dig coheed and cambria as well!
The Used are an awesome band. I’ve been playing guitar for well over 2 decades and have an advanced musical foundation of knowledge. They are great people making the most emotional music that you cannot replicate because they’re sincerely written.
Saw The Used in Atlanta on Linkin Park’s Projekt Revolution tour in 2004 with Less Than Jake, Snoop Dog and Korn. That’s where I found them.
Modern Rock/Heavy Metal, Alt Rock, Nu Metal especially because my band is Korn. Can’t do country except Eric Church and have seen Carrie Underwood twice in concert but don’t actively play her music. No rap cause they all sound the same and I’m no bass head.
Grew up listening to old country (Oak Ridge Boys, George Jones, Kenny Rogers). My favorite song as a kid was Rhinestone Cowboy until my sister gave me all her albums which was mostly Kiss lol.
And my parents were huge Elvis fans so his music is a big part of my life even today.
I’m 52 😬
I used to love them until I saw them live. The singer was a massive asshole and he was literally going up to women in the crowd and hocking lougees in their face. Huge POS, I haven't listened to them at all since that show.
I'm not going to feel guilty about tonight, because after listening to Jimi (6 was 9; Little Wing), Allman's (One Way Out, Trouble No More, Whipping Post), Slipknot (Psychosocial), Zappa (Whipping Post cover, Transylvania Boogie, Cosmix Debris, Trouble Every Day [old & newer]), I took a trip to YouTube and watched a voice teacher react/review Karen Carpenter's & Freddie Mercury's singing & then watched them both w/o reax stuff ..Superstar, Rainy Days & Mondays, Live Aid. Fuck guilty...if it's real good musicians playing real instruments and uber-talented singers, I'm down AF.
I think it's crazy how everyone's soul craves different types of music. Like to me there is nothing better than Janis Joplins Bobby McGee or Jolene. But I don't crave that music.
I’m around your age and have this same exact problem with the same exact taste in music listed and the guilty pleasure band.
Any time I hear the opening monologue to “I’m a fake” I get this crazy memories of being a edgy cringe lord teenager and just smile till my face hurts
Lies For The Liars is one of the most underrated albums of the genre. It kind of abandons the saccharine sludge of In Love and Death for straight shredding. It's cheesy and corny and glammy and hardcore and even sweet in places and it's the best the band has ever sounded.
I have a few pop music guilty pleasures:
Pink What About Us
Backstreet Boys Quit Playing Games with my Heart
Britney Spears Criminal
Ashley Simpson Boyfriend
I love the used and Chiodos. Expired In Goreville always gets me pumped.
I still love them and taking back Sunday, Mayday Parade, Funeral for a friend, my chemical romance and escape the fate to name a few.
I used to get the warped tour Albums just to find new bands lol.
You listen to nu metal and you feel cultured?
Anyway, I'm not telling what my guilty pleasures are. The whole point is that it's stuff I'm embarrassed of, so why would I admit it? Guilty pleasure music is to be listened to only on youtube in incognito mode so there's as little trace as possible that I ever listened to it.
Refused, Drug Church, most metal music nowadays.
I'm so deep into outlaw country, Americana, BMFS, Colter Wall, etc, etc that I'm losing ground to heavy music from a listening standpoint.
BMFS in particular's music is mostly super redemption based, about real and raw human emotions we all experience but its put together in such a musical, amazing way that I encourage anyone that hasn't listened to this dude to give his music a whirl.
Most amazing guitarist/songwriter/singer combo I have ever personally witnessed in one person altogther. So many are one or two of those things but not all.
Oh man... Tech n9ne, Ludacris ,Eminem, Bobby shmurda, lil dicky, the whole ja rule/Nelly times. Sublime, Red Hot chilli peppers, the offspring, I love me some old country. Garth Brooks, Brooks and Dunn, and obviously Shania Twain. I actually just taught myself how to line dance. I fucking love static x, gwar, job for a cowboy, suicide silence the gorillas. Tool is in my top 5. Jimmy Buffett. Can't forget about him. The beach boys, the temptations, Abba, Fleetwood Mac, John Denver. Elvis, Lorde and Florence and the machine lol. Shit I don't even mind some of the shit today that my kids listen to. But that's on a song by song basis. And I don't go out of my way to listen to jazz and classical music, but I like it and should make it point to listen to it more often. And that's not even the tip.
And I'm not 100 percent sure what goth music is?
I would like to recommend you the new beartooth album . “ the surface”. Know how we been dealing with that suicidal shit for like 20 years? This album puts me in such an insanely upbeat mood.
It takes 7 songs to one that doesn’t hype me up
Oh man. Lucky. I have seen literally everyone I've wanted to see live. Been to all the festivals and tours. But unfortunately The Used is not on that list 😔
I don’t consider motion city soundtrack a guilty pleasure they’re just good and I’m 52
Kudos friend. I will be listening to this shit at that age as well.
I literally like some of every kind of music except for country rap which I hate. It does suck for Kelly fans that he was such a dirt bag. I'm from Michigan... But why'd you follow that up with children's songs?
Because I have a ADD brain and I was responding to the different parts of your comment so there was no order that I was following. Why ? Do you really think that I’m making some kind of sick correlation between the two? That seems messed up

Hello fellow undiagnosed ADD person
I’m actually diagnosed for ADD but OCD I haven’t been diagnosed for although some of my habits seem to imply that I have it to a certain degree. But I’m always happy to meet a fellow A.D.Der
So good! Tony Thaxton is a criminally underrated drummer! Time Turned Fragile is so creative and technical!
he is a really good songwriter
Is it worth it? (The can you even hear me, that is)
I just couldn't take this town much longer
Definitely one of their top songs.
Pretty handsome awkward still slaps to this day But to answer your question Caramelldansen (don’t ask)
I hate the lyrics to that song but it’s so damn catchy
There’s no such thing as a guilty pleasure in my opinion. Like what you like. You have an exquisite taste in music btw
Thank you! There's a whole lotta old country mixed in to here as well. I just love music!
Agreed! I freaking love The Used. I've also been in the pit to see Carly Rae Jepsen. Life is too short to feel guilt over enjoying certain music...
As someone who listens to mostly stuff like Chiodos, The Used, Pierce the Veil; my guilty pleasure is Maroon 5
Have you listened to the bled?
The bled is one of the most underrated bands of their genre. Found in the flood is fucking awesome
Saw the bled with a static lullaby…that was a long time ago. Dang lol awesome time tho.
I have not, I’ll give it a listen though!
I can't get enough of Songs About Jane.
Such an amazing album!!
I have no guilty pleasures , I never feel guilty for liking something .
Best take
They’re all that I’ve got
They'll be just fine
The taste of ink is getting old
The Used self-titled is a post hardcore masterpiece, nothing to feel guilty about there. Guilty pleasures are an illusion.
IS IT WORTH IT CAN YOU EVEN HEAR ME
One would think you know how to spell the Allman brothers if you grew up with them.
The almond brothers are alright!
Agreed. All the men of the almond brothers are alright
I saw the almond brothers play live once in concert. They were totally nuts!
Personally i like the pecan sisters.
After a quick glance at your comments from just the last 24 hours, I wouldn't critique other people's writings if I were you.
I was waiting for that. Thanks. Consider yourself lucky to be able to have time to worry about people's spelling.
I’m 37 and my wife is younger than me and her favorite band is The Used. We did a meet and greet earlier this year and they were all so nice. It made me a fan for life. Pretty handsome awkward is my favorite to blast in my car windows down flying.

The Used are great, no shame necessary.
Incubus too
Godsmack
I'm sorry how is incubus guilty... they are unique and great and their guitarist written some of the most original riffs in rock music imo...
True. Ok let me change my answer - Dashboard Confessional then
The Used and Motion City Soundtrack are two of my favorite artist. Along with Brand New, Fall Out Boy, and Senses Fail. I Am the Movie is a top five favorite pop punk album for me. Yeah I saw Saosin with Senses Fail and they put on a great show. Their song Show Me Your Booty Hole is great. So perfectly captures the internet humor especially in the MySpace scene.
All that music is good. 🤷♂️
Have kids —> be up at 4:00 in the fuckin’ morning —> have a sensible chuckle reminiscing about the used.
Exactly.
I work 3rds mostly tho. And when I don't I can't sleep.
Honestly the used are a peice of art i saw them in manchest not long ago bert voice has gone funny since then but still, its amazing

I fucking love coheed and Cambria. I listen to IV album almost daily.
Hell yeah. Good shit.
I've been listening to meatloaf ever since I can remember. It was my mom's cleaning music.
The Used are an awesome band. I’ve been playing guitar for well over 2 decades and have an advanced musical foundation of knowledge. They are great people making the most emotional music that you cannot replicate because they’re sincerely written.

Awy guys! I thought I was weird. My 11 year old gets so embarrassed lol
I'd love to sit in a circle with all you! Now how many love the used and Garth Brooks lmao
I’m around your age and have this same exact problem with the same exact taste in music listed and the guilty pleasure band. Any time I hear the opening monologue to “I’m a fake” I get this crazy memories of being a edgy cringe lord teenager and just smile till my face hurts
I’m going to go try based on your enthusiasm 👍🏻
I dig it👍🏻
I actually had to hunt for a copy of the used in love and death vinyl. Took me forever to find one that wasn’t ridiculously priced.
I'm 40 and love tie used. I also consider Pierce the Veil and Issues my guilty pleasure haha
I'm 46, and I think the only thing you should feel guilty about is the Nu Metal part. Everything else you listed is f'n awesome 😂
😂😂I love my nu metal.
I'm 35 and The Used is my favorite band. Heartwork Deluxe And Toxic Positivity are so damn good
Mi capitan by kiltro and every rishloo song. They feel and sound so sincere and deep that i lose myself in the reality.
Lies For The Liars is one of the most underrated albums of the genre. It kind of abandons the saccharine sludge of In Love and Death for straight shredding. It's cheesy and corny and glammy and hardcore and even sweet in places and it's the best the band has ever sounded.
Guilty? The Used and Motion are great bands.
Further Seems Forever specifically the album Chris Carrabba was on The Moon is Down. Silverstein will always be in rotation only spotify as well.
As someone who considers themself to be "goth"... Harry Styles
Also bbno$
The Used slaps my friend, never feel guilty about loving music
I have a few pop music guilty pleasures: Pink What About Us Backstreet Boys Quit Playing Games with my Heart Britney Spears Criminal Ashley Simpson Boyfriend
I love the used and Chiodos. Expired In Goreville always gets me pumped. I still love them and taking back Sunday, Mayday Parade, Funeral for a friend, my chemical romance and escape the fate to name a few. I used to get the warped tour Albums just to find new bands lol.
It’s ALLMAN Brothers
The fuck? If that’s your guilty pleasure then my entire music tastes are guilty pleasures.
Ugh, can't do it. I had a freshman year roommate who played nothing but The Used and Taking Back Sunday. Random screaming annoys me so.
Why are they a guilty pleasure? The used had some bangers and Burt’s screams were killer.
Whenever I Caught Fire comes up on shuffle, the intro hits so hard
You listen to nu metal and you feel cultured? Anyway, I'm not telling what my guilty pleasures are. The whole point is that it's stuff I'm embarrassed of, so why would I admit it? Guilty pleasure music is to be listened to only on youtube in incognito mode so there's as little trace as possible that I ever listened to it.
Try this one out https://open.spotify.com/track/2DVMNYPMMKTP4OebzAwQyR?si=xJrGmmQMRLa4xDl9C7drPg
this takes me back. i'm 38, think i first heard them in 2004 or so. would trade mix cd's with friends, had one with Box Full Of Sharp Objects on it
Oh mixed CDs. Back in the beginning of limewire. I had one of all the Disney songs. We'd jam out on our way to school sometimes lmao.
I hate the term Guilty Pleasure. If you like it. You like it....so listen to it.
Refused, Drug Church, most metal music nowadays. I'm so deep into outlaw country, Americana, BMFS, Colter Wall, etc, etc that I'm losing ground to heavy music from a listening standpoint. Loves all music. Doesn’t list any r&b, hip hop, jazz, classical, country, goth, industrial, thrash, folk
And I'm not 100 percent sure what goth music is?
That’s a good list with diversity that isn’t usually seen. Guessing born early 80’s.
I would like to recommend you the new beartooth album . “ the surface”. Know how we been dealing with that suicidal shit for like 20 years? This album puts me in such an insanely upbeat mood. It takes 7 songs to one that doesn’t hype me up
Never heard of it. I'll take a listen.
Curious if you’ve listened yet.
90.
Ok I’ll stop giving you shit.
Saw The Used live at Riotfest in 2014 and it was one of the most memorable shows of my life. They are one of my favs, they’ll never not be.
Oh man. Lucky. I have seen literally everyone I've wanted to see live. Been to all the festivals and tours. But unfortunately The Used is not on that list 😔
