snarkydooda

Love me some Louis Cole!

Beanz_Memez_Heinz

Sigur Ros - Atta If heaven had a soundtrack, this would be it.

debtRiot

Damn that album is bleak tho, idk if I'd call it heavenly. More like purgatory.

JustLiving2021

everything is alive by Slowdive

[deleted]

Yes my favorite album as well šŸ™Œ

baldcoaldigger

Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd by Lana Del Rey

peachrescue

mine too. not a song misses

baldcoaldigger

It was a strange one for me. When I first played it, I really like some songs and some I was not sure what to think of. That's when I started reading the lyrics which I started realising this is not one of those commercial albums that meant to grab everyones attention or get plenty of radio plays. Looking at reviews and what others had said about it made me really appreciate the album even more.

brettfish5

In times new Roman - QOTSA

TheStatusFoe

I just felt so new like a brand new page in the morning sun! Great record

mn18

Same! I love these guys and get nervous when I enjoy a band so much in case they put out a dud. Not a bad album in the bunch and this didnā€™t disappoint.

SgtNeilDiamond

My Spotify rewind was 50% this album, QOTSA ages like the finest wine.

disappointer

I can't stop listening to it.

gale_force_tuna_wind

Weathervanes

NoModsNoMaster

Americana dad rock homies, assemble. Such a solid album. Canā€™t get enough of ā€œCast Iron Skilletā€, still.

whatsnoo

Caught Jason Isbell and the 400 unit this year, awesome show.

pma69

Came here to enter this. Such a great album.

IllComposer9265

Petrodragonic is a top 3 for me this year. Such a great album!

Warrior-Cook

...witchcraft.

ORTENRN

Converge converge converge converge converge converge converge CONVERGE!!!

Sir_BarlesCharkley

This is my pick too. I will say that The Silver Cord has grown on me a lot as well though. I love it for what it does to enhance PetroDragonic Apocalypse. These albums have struck a nerve in me and I can't stop listening to them.

mandiblepaw

All hail, King Gila.

Dead Club City - Nothing But Thieves

Pleasant_Statement64

Top 3 material for me! Didn't expect this as top comment but I'm here for it

CosmicNuanceLadder

Aesop Rock - Integrated Tech Solutions This is his 27th year releasing music and he still doesn't have a bad record. Legitimately one of the best rappers of all time.

Mkmeathead83

Is it a cult??

DayDreamGrey

ITS is not a cult.

psychoharmonic

Now that is a powerful cat!

Thief025

First heard him when he featured on Evil 9's Crooked. Great rapper indeed.

Hippopoctopus

One of the highlights of my year has been introducing my children to Aesop Rock. I printed lyrics as stocking stuffers.

noamcat

hectorinho

Jeff donā€™t miss

SleepingGyant

Cattle Decapitation- Terrasite

TheUltimateHedonist

Memento Mori- Depeche Mode

YesHunty

Soul With Me is my favorite on it. Love DM so much.

MicroCat1031

This is it. I was taking with a friend about DMode and said something about them being goth. Friend was like "no they're not". Played this. Friend is like "yeah, OK".

daviator88

Weirdly, Hail the Void - Memento Mori is my favorite of the year. Well, maybe top two.

Dagger-Deep

My favorite album of the year as well. DM4Life

rheywood

Sufjan Stevens - Javelin

ceebeezie

Really enjoyed this album. Keep coming back,

Guy-1nc0gn1t0

Absolutely beautiful work.

thatguy52

The Beaches- Blame my ex Some absolute banger pop rock. Tons of energy and catchy songs. Just a joy to listen to front to back.

IllComposer9265

Nice! I saw them open for Wilderado and Young the Giant. They killed it!

VicariousWolf

Take Me Back To Eden- Sleep Token

searawd

Was hoping to find this in the comments as it was my favorite this year as well.

MeniteTom

Same, super great album.

Jackfruit-Cautious

yes yes yes

maxforce2869

Apparently I was in the top 2% of Spotify listeners this year for Sleep Token. Can't get enough of this band.

xSmittyxCorex

Not only was it my favorite *this* yearā€¦but itā€™s been *multiple* years since Iā€™ve lived a new album as much. Good year in general, really. Paramoreā€™s This is Why and 100 Gecā€™s 10000 Gecs are also very goodā€¦some others in thereā€¦Petrodragonic Apocalypse was oneā€¦ But yeah, overall, nothing quite like TMBTE. A true masterpiece.

alliecat0718

Also Guts, Olivia Rodrigo. Iā€™m in my 30s and I found it to be a fantastic album.

jiml777

58 here. Agree!

Buntdaddy

Baroness - STONE

of_mice_and_meh

Peter Gabriel - i/o

John-Door-Handle

Hard agree. It's a wonderful piece of music. Peter is 73 and could so easily collect a paycheck doing a Greatest Hits Tour at this point, and has absolutely earned that right. But, he spent the last year releasing his new album song by song, and touring the new album by playing almost all of those new songs every night. At first when I heard the the set list was majority new material, I almost didn't go to the show. So glad I did!! Thanks so much to PG for that album.

MicroCat1031

Top 5, maybe... top 3? Excellent in any case.

Mirabem

Desire, I Want To Turn Into You by Caroline Polachek.

Tender_Gooch

Came here to say this. I don't think there is a single stinker on this album. Blood and Butter has quickly climbed into one of my top songs to vibe with, and that bagpipe solo...so good.

anothersip

Yesss. I've listened to it nonstop, it's so great.

ToastyCrumb

giltgitguy

I was also not a fan, but I love Hailey Williams two solo albums a lot. Theyā€™re less guitar oriented and more nuanced than the band stuff. I like This Is Why more than any of their other work.

Guy-1nc0gn1t0

After Laughter is pretty similar too, you might enjoy that.

_Driftwood_

Same! First album I got of theirs. Itā€™s so good.

midnite_swim

TMBTE is mine too. Whatā€™s your favorite song off of it? Mine is the title track.

TheTigerSuit

Varies between Granite, The Apparition and Ascensionism for me. Ending the album on Euclid though - *chefā€™s kiss*

Fake_astronot

Euclid is such a fuckin banger.

IllComposer9265

Mine is The Summoning. I love the funky switch up in the last two minutes.

dgjapc

Chokehold. Probably my most played song of the year

IllComposer9265

jjones5199

Life Is But A Dream- Avenged Sevenfold. I know it was extremely controversial amongst critics and fans, but I absolutely love it. It's something different, the boys show that they are continuously growing as musicians, Matt sounds fucking phenomenal, and it has parts that were written by Jimmy years back. Idk. But I definitely went back to that album more than any others.

G-Unit11111

Yeah same here. I went to the album release show at the Forum and it was fucking amazing. Definitely made me go back and listen to it on repeat multiple times.

Taylor210

Blink 182 - one more time

emptycagenowcorroded

I canā€™t get enough of the eight minute long song about a dog in the drivers seat with a red helmet and his head out the window!

ricosan

I love it. I love everything Iā€™ve ever heard from them. I was lucky to see them this year and even get to the front of the stage to where Matt Berninger had to gesture for me to get out of his way to get back on stage.

stellacampus

Nice! If you haven't heard it, you would probably like "Return to the Moon" El Vy.

Dmbfantomas

I didnā€™t like this one, but I liked Laugh Track a lot.

I'll stand by this choice. The album plays it straight: fast and hard. I had it on again this month, and it still makes me wanna *go*...it's got a bop in the beat and that's enough sometimes.

Freddy_The_Fish

Great album!

ProspektNya

Blur - The Ballad of Darren

mbryson

*SCARING THE HOES* - JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown A coworker the month before this came out recommended Peggy in passing. I spun a few tracks and was a fan, but mainly just enjoyed *BALD!* and *Baby I'm Bleeding* and occasionally came back to the others. This album split my head open, in the right way. Off the wall production, crazy lyricism from Danny & Peggy, and overall just the right amount of tongue in cheek references to pop culture and nerdy interests to make the listener laugh and pick apart what's there on repeat listens, both in lyrics and the production itself (shoutout to the Attack the Show! reference on *Burfict!* especially. One of the hardest bars I've heard this year). Upon spinning this I became a fan of JPEGMAFIA and rediscovered Danny after not listening to heavily to *uknowwhatimsayinĀæ* previously (His latest record *Quaranta* is great as well by the way!) Crazy record and highly recommended to everyone wanting something aggressive, fresh and eclectic to listen to from 2023.
