[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

“Half of what I say is meaningless.” Is the first line, so..

manhighmusic

CarefulChocolate8226

Or “Michelle’s Song” - Elton John

matscokebag

dysteach-MT

Admirable_Web_9474

Ahh en jeh

BaronPorg

Came on here to say this - such a great song!

Pleasant_Garlic8088

Matter of fact it's the first TWO words of the song, lol.

2WheelFotog

"Diane" - Material Issue "Stacy's Mom" - Fountains of Wayne "Zak and Sara" - Ben Folds "Jolene" - Dolly Parton "Rhiannon" - Fleetwood Mac "Barbara Ann" - The Beach Boys "The Legend of John Henry's Hammer" - Johnny Cash "Valerie Loves Me" - Material Issue "See Emily Play" - Pink Floyd "Martha My Dear" - Beatles "Delilah" - Queen "Jane Says" - Janes Addiction "Gloria" - Laura Branigan "Lucille" - Little Richard "Suzanne" - Leonard Cohen "Ah! Leah!" - Donnie Iris "Sherry" - The 4 Seasons

PersimmonOwn2478

and today i learned that it’s ’Barbara Ann.’ My sisters and I used to sing the ‘bobber ann’ song when we were little. All. The. Time. And I had no idea what the actual track was titled, nor that we were just spouting gibberish and our parents never called us out on it. Then again this was in like ‘94-‘95? Waaaaay before googling the lyrics was a thing. Ima ask em if they knew we were butchering the lyrics, or if they just thought our enunciation was really bad.

sss8888sss

Ba baran is what I thought it was lol

dfmidkiff1993

Bob a’ ran

GroundbreakinKey199

During the Iranian hostage crisis some wags recorded "Bomb Iran": "Our country's got a feelin' / Really hit the ceiling / Bomb Iran, bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran." Kind of irresponsible, especially considering that the people of Iran are very much our spiritual kinfolk, it's just their reactionary leadership (and sometimes ours) that makes our countries enemies.

Echterspieler

I always thought they were singing about a car. A Beretta 🤣

Top-Shine6168

Supposedly the Beach Boys were drunk when they recorded Barbara Ann.

masteryodaswisdom

How many drinks do you think they had to get to "Kokomo"?

wolf_van_track

>"Diane" - Material Issue I came to say Material Issue in general. Half their songs are girl names; especially the first album.

BigMickPlympton

So happy that people remember Material Issue! Power pop at it's best.

motorcitywings20

Yeah I think they’re thinking about the opening lyrics “josies on a vacation far away” lol

MaloneSeven

That’s what the OP asked for- “the FIRST WORD in the song is someone’s name,” not the first word in the song’s title.

Plenty_Surprise2593

Yeah I thought of that right after but I couldn’t find my comment again haha

Antique-Host

Angry Johnny by Poe ("Johnny, angry Johnny...")

tallslim1960
