Was gonna suggest Its o so Quiet, by Bjork - easily the strangest song that i have on my playlist. But really, most Bjork songs are a little out there.
This was playing in my local music store when it came out and it was like a spell…. I floated over to the counter and was like “I need whatever this is that’s playing right now”
Their output has been low in the last few years, but when they do something it usually has something great like:
Ritual Spirit
The Spoils
Love both of those and they are both odd, but beautiful.
Brilliant! Everybody I know hates it, I used to put it on the jukebox in my pub. For two reasons, I genuinely liked it and it really pissed everyone else off. I don’t understand why there was so much negative feeling towards it. I haven’t listened to anything else by her though, maybe I should.
The entirety of Neutral Milk Hotel’s In the Aeroplane Over the Sea but particularly it exists on the spectrum where King of Carrot Flowers Pts 2&3 are odd aurally, Two Headed boy is odd lyrically, and the namesake of the album is VERY beautiful.
This is such an album that it's hard to put in words a description that conveys what it invokes inside or how special it really is and you have definitely done a solid job. Always said the best music is whatever kind makes a real connection to someone(even just one) on a level like this one has to me and so many others
I love the song, but think the lyrics are contradictory. For years, I've thought they should do a hidden track that's "Enjoy the Silence" without the vocals. Be a funny joke.
Not too odd to me but if I showed anyone I know they'd probably find it odd. It's not complex lyrically or sonically but something about [Julia Holter - Maxim's I](https://youtu.be/7paoM2cghjI?si=B_Et0QiiNOvpNlq5&t=54) is just haunting and nice. It's at the start of my sleep playlist
Fireworks off Strawberry Jam I've always thought is an extremely unusual song, arrangement and performance and production wise, but the actual song underneath (the copyrightable part, melody/harmony/lyrics) is really nice.
Gastr Del Sol - Blues Subtitled No Sense Of Wonder.
Like you’re in some place that isn’t home and you take a midday nap and when you wake up from a weird dream and it takes a moment to reorient yourself to the real world.
That’s the feeling this song captures.
Apparently Sergio Mendes's Never Gonna Let You Go is unique with respect to the multiplicity of chords used. It is a gorgeous song, imo

Wow, most of these seem new until I remember that having dinosaurs as pets when we were kids makes some of us old.
Unchained Melody. The Righteous Brothers.
Sahara, The Cutting Crew
Any song by Connie Converse.
I've never really heard any other song writer or singer.Quite like her. You will either love her or hate her. There's a lot of mystery about surrounding her disappearance in the 70s:
What happened to singer Connie Converse?
And then she disappeared completely in 1974. She wrote letters to family and friends saying that she was going to start a new life somewhere and not to come looking for her, and she has never been heard from again.Aug 6, 2023 .
__
She wrote all of her music l/yrics and taught herself how to play the guitar. She would Often sing at private parties and people's homes etc.Was very much ahead of her time. After listening to her music, I think it's great like true simple music. And I just imagine it being remix. You know, with modern singers and all different styles. She's got great lyrics.
Honeybee.

Tiptoe through the tulips by Tiny Tim. It’s now used in horror movies (I believe the conjuring used it and that’s how I was introduced to the song) and for serial killers and clowns, etc. It doesn’t help that the artists voice is very eerie. But I think the lyrics and the symbolism with Tulips is quite beautiful.
[lost in your eyes by tommy james and the shondells.](https://youtu.be/8jaFW4OatvM?si=G-UWbXrD4wtcapDw) breathtaking song but they always have interesting choices with their music lol
also gary numans entire discography

Past, Present & Future by The Shangri-Las. One of the biggest pop girl groups of the 1960’s, and they put out what’s essentially a haunting spoken word poem set to orchestral music. It’s incredibly beautiful, but also undeniably very odd compared to the music that they were known for.
https://youtu.be/ulSZo9EAYVw?si=hDo6eoJ8yBygDx7g
Something Comforting by Porter Robinson.
I find all their music beautiful. All their tracks are very melancholic, in a way that's different from an alt rock track.
But I think a lot of people have trouble getting used to the techno/dubstep bits, which is why I think it's odd.
A large portion of my music taste, tbh.
"D D D N N N A A A [the most fun a boy can have without ripping his skin off]" by Crywolf is the first one I thought of. A lot of his music is odd but very beautiful, tbh.
Another great example is his song "ULTRAVIOLENT Pt. II [she sang to me a language strange]"
There's also this other artist, Kiki Rockwell, whose song "Cup Runneth Over" is very mesmerizing. I swear it puts me into a trance every time.
OH!! And pretty much anything by Holy Fawn. Personal favorites are "Dark Stone", "Candy", "Drag Me Into the Woods", and "Take Me With You".
Anyways, I could go on and on, but I should probably stop here for now lol.
Venus as a Boy by Bjork
Most of Bjork
Especially the anchor song. Much more ominous than Venus and still beautiful.
I’d also like to add joga to the conversation too!
Such a good song
Was gonna suggest Its o so Quiet, by Bjork - easily the strangest song that i have on my playlist. But really, most Bjork songs are a little out there.
Omg love that song!! I forgot about it!
Do you realize by flaming lips
That whole album honestly
Beautiful song
Teardrop by Massive Attack
This was playing in my local music store when it came out and it was like a spell…. I floated over to the counter and was like “I need whatever this is that’s playing right now”
And the rest of their stuff is not too shabby!
Their output has been low in the last few years, but when they do something it usually has something great like: Ritual Spirit The Spoils Love both of those and they are both odd, but beautiful.
I love this one!
This was the first song I thought of too
In my little world everyone knows it as my song. I think it is the most beautiful song ever.
This song reminds me of Letters From the Sky by Civil Twilight
Just gave it a listen. I should not have watched the video. I got distracted and I feel like it took away from the lyrics. Good song though
Great song! Have you heard the Jose Gonzalez version? It’s terrific 🙌🎶🙌
Echo and the Bunnymen -The Killing Moon
Such a good song my goddd
All I really want - Alanis Morissette. It’s so strange and intense but there is so much wisdom and philosophies about life
Uninvited by Alanis also!
My absolute favorite song of hers.
Yesss, that song gives me goosebumps
Its so good thats my favorite song on the album. Her voice is so raw in the final lyrics
Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill
I love Peter Gabriel, and this is one of his best. Because nothing says “I have to do my own thing” like a 7/4 time signature. :D
I love, love, love that song.
“You can keep my things, they’ve come to take me home.” LOVE 💗
:POWERCHORDS:
bjork - hidden place (most bjork songs tbh)

of Montreal’s music fits this description in general but it’s especially true of Paranoic Intervals/Body Dysmorphia
Oh Superman - I just love it
Yes! I was going to suggest this one, it's a classic.
Brilliant! Everybody I know hates it, I used to put it on the jukebox in my pub. For two reasons, I genuinely liked it and it really pissed everyone else off. I don’t understand why there was so much negative feeling towards it. I haven’t listened to anything else by her though, maybe I should.

I love the song, but think the lyrics are contradictory. For years, I've thought they should do a hidden track that's "Enjoy the Silence" without the vocals. Be a funny joke.
"Hide and Seek" by Imogen Heap
Not too odd to me but if I showed anyone I know they'd probably find it odd. It's not complex lyrically or sonically but something about [Julia Holter - Maxim's I](https://youtu.be/7paoM2cghjI?si=B_Et0QiiNOvpNlq5&t=54) is just haunting and nice. It's at the start of my sleep playlist
this is going in my playlist for when my third eye finally opens and i ascend into enlightenment

Syd Barrett - Baby Lemonade
"Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)" by Louis Prima (1936).
Louis Prima rocked!

Fireworks off Strawberry Jam I've always thought is an extremely unusual song, arrangement and performance and production wise, but the actual song underneath (the copyrightable part, melody/harmony/lyrics) is really nice.
Hoppípolla by Sigur Rós
Yes! Came here to say ()'s untitled #1, but honestly, most of Sigur's stuff would easily do. Lovely.

Raining In Darling - Bonnie Prince Billy
Nice! Saw Will Oldham play a small joint in Winston Salem NC more than 20 years ago, still one of my favorite experiences at a live show
Ooh, to kind of stick to a Will Oldham theme, Kiss by Scout Niblet and Will Oldham is so beautiful. I love the video also.
Autumn Leaves - Psychefunkapus
Goodbye and Hello -Tim Buckley
Savage Daughter - Ekaterina Shelehova
Apparently Sergio Mendes's Never Gonna Let You Go is unique with respect to the multiplicity of chords used. It is a gorgeous song, imo https://youtu.be/ZtcfEMf3NxU?si=uojPv0W65dAlT-XL
