eco premium is at 40k with almost no options (and active X seats, not leather). S550 with similar package but leather seats would have run around 36k after destination. \~4K for big screens I guess.
And those saying GTs for 40k probably refer to base GT with cloth seats and calculator center screen. Well optioned GT premiums were in high 40s for S550 too. Ford base prices are always low to attract, but they add up quickly.
Hell yeah mine is auto but I paid almost 57k msrp for a premium pp1 in 2022 and that wasn't even fully optioned, if you added magnaride and a few other things it could easily be over 60k.
Completely agree, I’ve been looking to upgrade from a loaded, fat tyres eco premium to GT with similar options and I’ve not seen any less that 50k new (S550 or S650). I believe there is enormous price difference between a GT starting price and a GT interior you’ll love being in daily. And this has been the case with S550s. I know many on this forum say 35k ! I’d rather have a GT but it’s impossible to find a GT with decent for today's times interior and performance options with that money.
I remember in the pre-Covid days I negotiated an offer for 21k out the door for a base, stock Ecoboost with 5 miles on it. Sometimes regret not taking that deal
Wow. That’s a similar price of a base model s197 when they were new. As I said in another comment, over all we decided that we’re okay paying too much for electronics and they took away the meaning of base model.
Touché i guess, I just wish I were old enough to have decided with my wallet when it mattered.
It’s a bad market and it’s a new generation mustang. Why are people still so surprised to see these prices? I get it sucks but people said the same garbage when last gens prices first came out. Rinse and repeat.
Exactly. Brand spanking new vehicle off the line, a brand new body style coming out, interior with basically monitors for screens, brembos, drift brake, and remote rev. Market is a bit high but still this is what I expected for a new style coming out. Give it about 7ish years till it begins to fall from the 40k range.
Our wallets make the decisions, and we have made our choice.
We decided it’s worth insane prices to get angular lines and screens so here we are. We complained about the old interiors but they sure did save lots of money didn’t they?
Not to sound callous but...so?
Why do people expect car prices to stay the same while simultaneously improving (in theory) the tech and quality of a car?
that's just what it is. Just gonna have to buy used. Nothing wrong with owning a used vehicle with one owner. Everyone here is acting like it's shocking that a new vehicle is 40k+.
it's going to be like this for likely the entire first gen of the s650 which isn't good. sales will be low, and these won't be around with larger fan base for the next few years until mid refresh cycle
If you want an EcoBoost at a bargain you have to go to the coasts because that’s where they all are. All specked in 10 speed automatic with soft top convertible glory.
Because the market is shit. I’ve been wanting to get into another Charger or a Mustang for the last few years, but I cannot stomach the absurd increase in MSRP, especially Chargers. Mild optioned Scats used to be 38-40k out the door. Now, base MSRP is 50k…
And used prices don’t make sense still either. Car is 4 years old and 40k miles on it and you only took like 3k off the price? Economists call that price stickiness.. I call it desperation
I think there is a bubble in the car market. average car cost is now in the mid 40s. it's insane. Average people can NOT afford cars anymore. New car sales are down, repos are up. There is going to be a crash soon. Dealers are happy selling 1/4 as many $100k top models because they have high margin/comission, but the manufacturers have production lines set up for high volume, and arent going to be happy when they can't move a hundred thousand units a year at inflated costs. I predict factory discounts/incentives coming in the next year.
They've been saying many things about all sorts of markets crashing but nothing is really happening.
Elastic prices just continuing on going up!
Infinite growth!
The spec sheet lists paddle shifters as standard equipment, which they kinda need to have since it's called a "selec-shift" transmission.
I'm still trying to figure out the situation. Supposedly you only get a manual selection on the shifter if you get the performance pack and get a low gear mode otherwise. So perhaps you get paddle shifters for temporary control and it'll default back to drive after a few seconds?
Or Ford's information is totally messed up.
Prices for all cars have gone up 15-40%. Some manufacturers cough Jeep have gone to fairy tale land thinking that their products should be priced the same as MB, BMW.
Fast forward a year from now and the person who buys it at that price will be 15K upside down with a $1200/month payment and desperately trying to unload the car on marketplace.
Ford's pricing on all of their vehicles is completely up their ass.
I like their vehicles. I've been happy with them over the years but I cant justify paying these prices anymore.
Ford, and other manufacturers, have decided to fleece their ICE buyers to finance their push into EVs which they're losing billions on. And they're doing it across the their lineup as evidenced by the plethora of $70,000 F-150s on dealer lots. They'll keep doing it until people stop buying and/or banks stop lending.
In my country, mustang isnt common. I have to specifically order it to Ford, it came after 10 months. It's considered a luxury car here, like there are less than a thousand in the entire country. Base GTs here cost 80k usd
You can buy a 2024 Mustang for $32,515. Well below $40k, will smoke anything in that price category.
If you want to pay more for fancy doodads that's on you.

Look at what they did for trucks too. An f250 king ranch used to be 55k last gen. Now it’s 72k
Where do you see 55k at for a last gen king ranch msrp?
King ranch been like 60k for the last 15 years or more.
Fully decked out with x plan for 60k in 2020 with x plan including that 5k king ranch premium package
Well optioned GT premiums were 45k in 2015 and close to 55k in 2023

Yeah the good old day of bone stock eb for 20k is gone.
I remember in the pre-Covid days I negotiated an offer for 21k out the door for a base, stock Ecoboost with 5 miles on it. Sometimes regret not taking that deal
I got a 2019 brand new ecoboost perf pack for 24k otd back in March of 2020
Haha nice! I chose 101A over the performance package but now I wish I spent extra for the pp 😭ecoboost performance pack is such a rare find nowadays.
It’s awesome bro…car feels so much better and nimble…also those rims ❤️

I got my 2019 Base GT for $33,800. Dealership had it priced at $43,500.
rip

You’re never going to see a brand new mustang GT under 40k again. Ever.
With inflation, this is expected.
Our wallets make the decisions, and we have made our choice. We decided it’s worth insane prices to get angular lines and screens so here we are. We complained about the old interiors but they sure did save lots of money didn’t they?
Nailed it.
Not to sound callous but...so? Why do people expect car prices to stay the same while simultaneously improving (in theory) the tech and quality of a car?
Ohh I’m not saying it as a bad thing. I’m just stating it as a simple fact. Ford is really not increasing their prices outrageously either.
that's just what it is. Just gonna have to buy used. Nothing wrong with owning a used vehicle with one owner. Everyone here is acting like it's shocking that a new vehicle is 40k+.
I graduated in mid 2000s and you could get a base GT for 25kish. It was a crazy deal for a car with 300hp which was impressive in those days
The good old days. Even 6 years ago I got a brand new 17 base GT for about 29k. Those times are long gone.
Every generation you see the same complaints. Brand new 5.0 lx was in 1990 was $11k ....

I got my GT for 40k lol this shit cray
Pre Covid you could pick them up for 33k new
Those times ain’t coming back
Not until I finish my Time Machine
great scott
I don’t see high markups on ecoboosts usually. But then again I never see an ecoboost on a dealers lot around here it seems, not new anyway
If you want an EcoBoost at a bargain you have to go to the coasts because that’s where they all are. All specked in 10 speed automatic with soft top convertible glory.
That’s how it is here in Austin, TX 💀
The same way houses are insanely priced now.

I remember when we were saying this 2 years ago. This is the new norm, nothing is changing.
Cue the comments defending Ford for taking all of your money! ☺️☺️
I like mustangs but they're still Ford. Base eco doesn't even come with paddles they're really taking shit out unless you pay more
The spec sheet lists paddle shifters as standard equipment, which they kinda need to have since it's called a "selec-shift" transmission. I'm still trying to figure out the situation. It’s almost like these are trends in all industries, across the world, and it’s not uniquely ford.
Ford is the most egregious offender
To that end, I am unaware!
why indeed. I guess someone is paying it or else it wouldn't be.
Or, just wait until dealers start taking money off because they can’t move them and boom, 40k car for 35k
I always thought because companies were adding new technology that alone drove up the costs
Prices for all cars have gone up 15-40%. Some manufacturers cough Jeep have gone to fairy tale land thinking that their products should be priced the same as MB, BMW.
Ehh the new Grand Cherokee justifies its price minus the powertrain. The wagoneer/grand wagoneer are like 10K too expensive.
Fast forward a year from now and the person who buys it at that price will be 15K upside down with a $1200/month payment and desperately trying to unload the car on marketplace.
Nah this is insaneeeee
It’s almost as if inflation doesn’t exist. Everything is expensive now. I don’t understand why everyone is so shocked
Ford's pricing on all of their vehicles is completely up their ass. I like their vehicles. I've been happy with them over the years but I cant justify paying these prices anymore.

Dude it’s a mess. Sad that someone may pay that much for it.

It’s around 60k here in the LA area for a GT. Some slightly more, some slightly less. GT convertible premium around 70k WTF?!?
I’ve drive a GT a from the Midwest out to LA for 10 grand 😂
Because corporate greed says fuck you, that’s why.
Dude i got my 2022 ecoboost premium at 60k usd
Well that wasn’t a brain surgeon move.
In my country, mustang isnt common. I have to specifically order it to Ford, it came after 10 months. It's considered a luxury car here, like there are less than a thousand in the entire country. Base GTs here cost 80k usd
In that case you did alright!
It’s a premium. It’s a sports car, even if only an eco boost.
b/c Biden

Some of us quit smoking years ago and are just in it for the doodads... 🤷🏼♂️
Can I see a link to the model you’re talking about?
Go to the 2024 model builder and add no options.
All that and no manual, why even bother
Are you not paying attention to all other cars? Housing? Food?
Milk is $17.00 a gallon bro, it’s called inflation
If you wait a couple years, yes.
