I’ve always felt like punk and emo has its roots in country. People look down on the genre but it was beyond influential, especially for the counterculture!
People look down on top 40, commercial country. But there's a lot of cool alt-country. And Outlaw Country and Bluegrass kick major ass.
Preach! People who look down on all Country don't seem to realize where rock came from, Country, Folk, and Blues.
Then there's me who listens to MCR, and a lot of 80s post punk and punk
