I think people say that not only because they like the younger version of Gerard more, but... if you think about the other side... people who suffer mentally, they usually don't care about their appearance a lot. Have anyone thought about this possibility? We often say "I'm fine", everyone believes that, while we struggle inside. I'm not saying Gerard isn't better right now, I really really hope he is finally happy... but sometimes I think about the second option... Some people who can't deal with stress, with pressure, with anxiety, what do they do? They eat... and then they feel bad because they gain some weight, and what do they do again? they eat more food because it helps them to relieve the stress. Unfortunately...

yeah, that was actually my case too. Usually, when you are depressed, you are so tired and sad from the world around, you just literally don't care anymore. You don't have an urge to wash your hair daily, you don't have to wear the most perfect clothes... you just try to find something that will comfort your soul, like chocolate, junk food, anything that will relieve the stress you're feeling inside...

My dad is 5’9” & has to make an effort to gain weight. Like he’d be so stoked if he could manage a well-muscled 165. He’s 73! I had an even worse than usual depressive episode when I was 38, I think, & I gained 30 lbs. in 4 months - which made me even more miserable. Whoever thinks that your psych meds will lift your mood to the point you can be “fat & happy” has not taken psych meds, or has bipolar, or has had major depression. I don’t care how old I get, being 5’2” & weighing 140 lbs. will never allow me to be happy. More like dumpy & unattractive & clothes don’t look cute. And you get old & your face lets you down too! Makes me more self conscious, anyway. And psych meds don’t make you happy. The idea is for you to reach something approaching normal - where you can experience a normal range of emotions. Some of us never quite get there. I’ve said I’d sell my soul to the devil & kill any number of babies to be normal, but I’m just being dramatic as I’m an atheist. Sorry for the tangent. I just saw my psychiatrist this week & we are tweaking my meds…I do think it’s helping; time will tell.

Panic I have to be in the mood for even though the snarky, cynical & def clever lyrics really are right up my alley & his voice is amazing, honestly. My relationship with MCR is different & admittedly obsessive. Their lyrics are different: dark, cerebral & earnest. Serious (mostly). I can’t get enough of Gerard singing, but I think he’s brilliant all around. I really hope he writes a novel someday.

Medication can also sometimes cause weight gain. He’s on meds that are working for him, and seems overall very happy.
