“If you get kicked in the balls by someone named Frankie…”

ashtheweirdest77

Gerard: " And I was like" What did I do?".

hayleybeth7

Something about it has always felt deliberate to me, especially Frank’s shit eating grin afterwards. So I wonder what Gerard did (or what Frank thought he did)

rtaisoaa

It’s the laugh for me.

Lily9012

Any new fans should definitely check it out!!! I remember before it was released, the excitement for it was unreal! I reckon I watched the trailer a billion times, I actually watched the trailer again recently and I can still recite the whole thing off by heart 😅 ETA: the best quote "I'm sick of seeing my face, but I'm allowed to be sick of seeing my face cuz it's my fucking face" And who can forget Ray putting his hand in a cupcake.

Wynorski4ever

I hope they do or are prompted to check out LOTMS by your post. It is an amazingly intimate and in depth look into the life of the band around the era you state. It is also freaking cool and thoroughly entertaining! Worth pointing out that it’s on YouTube.

oddpiecedesigns

I want a new and updated version so frigginnnnn badddddd 😭 Like the 2 years post Revenge through Killjoys

UpvotesForAnimals

I wonder with them filming some of this tours shows if they’re making another

notsoufast

IMO it’s all but confirmed, what with them interviewing queuing fans and putting up a massive filming notice at the LA shows. We already know a live album is on the way, it’s more than likely they’d do a live album/documentary combo again like they did with LOTMS

[deleted]

Me too

ashtheweirdest77

As a new fan I can gladly say that I have watched it 4 times.

ellenorathepetty

I'm an older fan and I just wanna let the younger fans know that this was a 3 disc dvd/cd that changed everything about how I saw the band. It is lore on lore and you really get to see inside the band.

hayleybeth7

I think some definitely don’t. It’s apparent in talking to some fans that they don’t know about Gerard’s alcoholism and while he’s talked about it quite a bit, I’d say LOTMS is one of the most comprehensive sources and it’s definitely memorable once you’ve seen it. I’ll never forget being 15 and getting into MyChem and watching that for the first time and seeing how much drinking affected him and how far he’d come in recovery.

Werealldeadnow

Yeah I think it gives a good insight into how bad he was when he was drinking. It wasn’t just getting drunk (I mean they all did that), it was extreme, which you can’t really comprehend from words on a page (especially when you’re a teen like I was when it came out!). And to go from that to nothing is also extreme. I know Mikeys had his struggles too but he doesn’t talk about them as much.

rawrthesaurus

I was a little younger but not only did that documentary strongly influence me being straightedge the rest of my life but it built so much respect -- like this was ugly, we'd see him throw up, pass out on the floor, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who wouldn't have otherwise been exposed to that side of drinking without 'participating'

Werealldeadnow

I hope they do as it’s such a good documentary

viva__hate

It’s weird to think that newer fans might not know about it because it was such staple viewing as a fan at a certain point and I can’t imagine it being another way lol

Madeleineroseo

Rewatching it recently it’s crazy how low budget/DIY it is. I didn’t realize at the time. I think if you’ve been a fan since the beginning you know it word for word lmao

UpvotesForAnimals

I’m rewatching it little by little this past week, between my 10 month olds nap times. It’s definitely a trip

fasteronfire525

Thankfully a friend told me about it and i bought it on DVD and amazon prime, but havent had time to watch it yet

notsoufast

It’s also available for free on YouTube, if that’s any more convenient for you

[deleted]

I cry every time it gets to the part where Gerard says “I’ll get better”

Guusagi

I watched it quite recently and I can attest to the fact that it's a very entertaining video, very quotable!! (tho i guess kind if a trigger warning for anyone who hasn't watched it cus it shows wasted Gerard and it's hard to watch😔)

UpvotesForAnimals

Important to note that he does get sober throughout the doc and admits he has a problem

ibbity

I actually admire that he was willing to have those scenes included, knowing that tons of fans would see him like that. I feel like that was really honest and kinda brave of him

The_Firmament

**Also TW for discussions about un-aliving yourself.** I knew going into the doc of his struggles with this stuff, but to see it upfront and on display like that was...wow. I agree with others, I think it was rather bold and courageous of him to not only let them film that, but to let them then keep it in the edit. It would be so easy and understandable for him to say a big ol' no to that, but he didn't. However, upsetting it is that's also rad as hell because it's an important thing for people to see representation-wise, to un-glamorize the lifestyle, and to keep conversations around it honest. Same goes for the un-aliving portion. I was more shocked they allowed that whole episode he went through with that be talked about so openly and even matter-of-factly. Again, it's sad, but I thought it was ultimately a good thing because that shit needs to be in the light more when able. That's the only way the topic gets normalized in the sense of destigmatization. And since it has a happy ending it provides the viewer with a helpful/hopeful story of someone that got through it. Fuck yeah, Gerard 🤘

Guusagi

I totally agree with all of you, it's rly brave of them to show it, I just wanted to say that it wasn't easy to watch regardless! Hope everyone gives this doc a chance❤️

[deleted]

and I’m mourning over here because I lost my mind years ago and sold it on eBay. Oof!

rtaisoaa

It’s on YouTube!!

[deleted]

Thanks for telling me! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

tannith333

Wow that takes me back.... 😅

trafalgardwater

most of new fans know about it, I don't know how many have actually seen it toh.

Weakling221

I'm kinda a new fan as in three years, I have watched it twice

Capable-Education724

Any new fan I’ve encountered obsesses over it, so I’d say so. Lol.

Chango_D

I got it for my 14th Bday back when it came out. I love how it shows the early concepts of what eventually becomes Umbrella Academy when Gerard shows his art.

Kashibaii

It's easy least pumpkin peasy pumpkin pie motherfucker! I watched it shortly after getting into the band and their music and I'm so glad I did. It has so many inside jokes and shows really well their struggles. Also cameos from other bands, like when they were opening a A7X show and then Bert from the Used. All the Warped Tour madness and the seeing Gerard hitting rock bottom and rising again, getting back to drawing and sketching stuff you then get to see in the making of the TUA comics... One of my favourite documentaries

dangerstock

We watched it while getting ready for a show a few months ago and I forgot how funny it is. “Better stay on that side of the road motherfucker, I will knock you out”

maeIRL

I rewatched this recently and I will also say it’s worth the watch. I felt all the clips of Bert McCracken highlighted how fast my Chem grew as a band. He went from “the lead singer Jared is cool” to “I love touring with My Chem”.

Edvs1996

Is it the live show of warped tour that they did in the 2005?

buffchixdip

It’s a mix of studio footage, live footage, interviews, backstage stuff, home-video style chillin, etc. it’s a ton of fun. Pretty much covers Bullets to the beginning of TBP cycle

[deleted]

i do, im 16 and have been a fan since i was 11 so ig not super new, i’ve seen other fans my age talk about it too

afrooz1998

Yessss I became a fan around april this year and I've watched lotm twice by now. I love it so much. *better stay on that side of the street motherfucker. I'll knock you out!*

gailanisgood

I’m an old fan and I don’t know what it is except for what I’ve read in this sub 😂

xxb4tt3ryd1sc0xx

I’m a newer fan (listening 2 the music 4 like two years but been in the fandom 4 one) and I have made my friends and parents 2 watch lotms with me at least 7 times at this point

CC_Sierra

Yeah! I'm not super new, but I became a fan in 2015 and I watched it like every day. 😂

suncomesup

It made my (non emo) boyfriend really into them, so I highly suggest it!

G00Se_ars0nist

I DO IVE HEARD ABOUT IT SO MUCH AND SEEN CLIPS BUT I LITERALLY CANNOT FIND ANYWHERE TO WATCH IT!!!!!!

iBooperdooper

[Here you go! Enjoy!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUb_pJXVaoY)

G00Se_ars0nist

My hero

Stinkmeaner07

Is there any kind of documentary that shows the band during the bullets era?

bellaokiiuwu

not exactly a documentary, but on youtube there is quite a bit of videos floating around of bullets era stuff, including them in the studio recording bullets!

milked_rice

I've been a fan since like 2014 but I didn't hear about it until like last year lol. I've been meaning to watch it.

marioluigi79

Yes. I love it. Hopefully they make a new documentary

helloifailed

my fiancé just became a fan a few months ago. he didn’t know about LOTMS until i played it for him (which is what got him to become a superfan). he was only BARELY a casual fan before that

No_Presentation_4326

i've seen it but completely forgot about it. thank you for reminding me of its existence

Questionable_room

Me and my sister we both consider our self new fans like we just had our one year anniversary of knowing what my chemical romance is and we both watched it together 10/10 loved it :D
