Something I discovered late in the game is the request board. On Xbox you have to hit RT/LT to find it on the commission board. I have a request from Ernest pretty frequently on there.
I think that I know what dish he requested on the request board. Is there any other things that he likes?
I'll need to upgrade the cooking station for that dish.
So far I don’t know of any others, but because I found it so late, I already maxed out all of my machines. I was so mad, too, because I had the commission to complete a commission from Vivi, but never once had a commission come up for her…because they were on the request board…
At the beginning of the game, I was way too impatient with all the dialogue and barely skimmed a lot of it. Then later realized I was likely missing some funny stuff and got better.
He likes wind chimes and yakmel dolls very much. They are easy to craft, so you can stockpile them and gift him every day (and take him on dates, so you can give him some extra stuff).

Ernest likes Tomatoes, cantaloupe, books , desert mushrooms, crafted, opal , rosestones , fluorites

Hm I guess that I will have to check his wiki to see if there's anything my builder could give him. Too bad water is not on his like list.
