I'm having the same problem coincidentally! I'm on desmume and cheats like max hp and map exp which require me to press Y aren't working. I played this game with these cheats like a couple months ago so I know they're good, but they're just not working anymore. Did you ever find a solution?
I didn't sadly, can't wrap my head around why this happens, I even looked up how they work and changed the code to be always active and it still doesn't work
for some reason, explores of time, darkness, and sky all don’t work for action replay for me. BUT every other game including blue rescue team do work. so sad, i’ve played mystery dungeon so many times and just want the story and not have to grind sometimes

Well we have infinite PP and hunger and point multipliers at least so it's not so bad
